    It's a sound business model that makes everyone in their organization available for trade. Making someone available doesn't mean you have to trade him. All you are doing by not making everyone available is limiting your chances to improve.

    I don't think there are any factors to consider. The point of this thread is that Gray should be available for trade to anyone - IF THE OFFER JUSTIFIES IT! Making someone available at the trade deadline is good business. Buyers tend to overpay if they feel they can add the one piece missing that might help them win a World Series. If no offer comes in that meets the Twins' acceptance level, then Gray remains a Twin for the rest of the year, gets a QO, turns it down and the Twins get an extra draft pick.

    I'll add once again - complete the trade only if the return is better than what you lose. Sellers are in the driver's seat at the deadline.

    That's true but other also play well against good teams. The Twins are 9 wins under a 50/50 record against all other teams. Not really playoff material to my mind.

    I just did a quick look at MLB.com for players hitting .275 or higher. I found less than 15 regulars that are on teams that I think will be sellers. Four are 2B, one is DH only, and two were young players who are not likely to be traded. That leaves between six and eight players who might be available in a trade. What do the Twins have in assets to go up against the other 15 or 16 buyers in a bidding war?

    I cannot think of any constructive move that can salvage 2022 (and I'm not being snarky). You mentioned that the Twins need two elite hitters. That would be great. But what non-contender has even one that they would be willing to trade? And if you could find these two unicorns, what do the Twins have to offer in trade? Ergo (my high school Latin finally gets used), make every Twin available for trade, see what offers are made, haggle a little, and then decide whether or not to complete the trade.

    Between now and September 30th, the Twins have 3 games against both Kansas City and Oakland. Nine games over .500 against those two teams and nine games under against major league teams. That's not much to pin your hopes on.

    Nonsense. The Twins should give up on the idea that, if only they can sneak into the playoffs, a miracle might happen. They thought that last year, made several deadline trades that accomplished nothing, and in the process blew up the prospect list. So, let's do it again and hope it works this time. Nonsense. This team is multiple players away from being a World Series contender. Put every player that doesn't fit in the 2024 plan up for adoption by any other team, see what offers come in (if any), and make all the trades you can that might upgrade the 2024 Twins.

    Then he should retire and save his health for his golden years (which for Buxton, starts at age 30).

    The question should be who provide an upgrade to the offense than Michael A Taylor. Buxton remains in the lineup and Taylor sits. Wallner, Julien, Larnach can all upgrade the offense.

    I'm reading a lot of prognosticating about Wallner's and Larnach's abilities as major leaguers - both positive and negative. But right now, I don't believe anyone can speculate. It's time (actually long past time) to bring them and let them play themselves into a permanent spot on the roster or fail and be sent back to AAA next spring. And I would add Williams and Stevenson to the list also.

    My opinion is that regardless of whether you think Gray will retire, sign an extension, or opt for free agency, the Twins need to inform the other 29 teams that they are willing to listen to any offer for him. The Twins can always say "No Thanks" to any offer they don't like.

    MLB's latest top 100 prospects list (and 50 others who just missed) was released yesterday. Walker Jenkins was the only Twins' draft pick mentioned. A comp A or B draft pick doesn't guarantee a top 150 prospect.

    It is a weak schedule but the Twins are a combined sub .500 team against everyone not named Kansas City or Oakland.

    That's not the topic I was responding to. But since you asked, my opinion changes almost daily. The draft last weekend has me thinking "good job, boys. Keep it up". But then I see Wallner still in the minors and I think "They gotta go!". Overall for me, the positives from the draft are already fading and I leaning towards booting them.

    I think that the key statement in the article is "calling any of the contending teams (in the AL Central Division) a playoff threat would be lying ". So I will repeat, reiterate, and say once more - SELL! SELL! SELL!

    If you are referring to Steer and Encarnacion-Strand, they could hit before they left the Twins.
