  1. Great story about the formation of TD. For me, and many others, Twins Daily has become a community of friends. Even though I live in North Carolina, I have immediate access to all things Twins through this site. I was originally a Washington Senators fan due to my grandparents living in DC and the Charlotte minor league team (40 miles from my home) was a Senators' farm team. We got the Charlotte Observer when I was a kid. When the Senators moved to Minnesota, I transferred my loyalty to the Twins. I am big on civility, and because of TD moderators and careful planning, TD has achieved amazing civility. So I say "Thank you" to the founders. Congratulations on an amazing first 10 years.
  2. I've got tickets for Twins v. Yankees on Sunday March 6th, the Phillies and the Twins and the Red Sox and Twins that week. While there is life, there is hope that these games will be played. If not, I'll watch some minor leaguers practices and enjoy the Florida sun, visit Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge, visit an army buddy who lives in Florida, visit Thomas Edison's homeplace, eat some seafood, sit on the beach and enjoy spending time with my wife. There I've said it and now I feel better. *#%$&*#*^&%#$@#%#.
  3. Lewis, Martin and Buxton would be a terrific defensive OF. Now about the SS position....
  4. Strotman wasn't listed in this series of listings previously in the 11 - 20, nor in the honorable mention list, so I figure he will be in this list. Maybe I'm wrong. If Ryan is eligible to be part of this list, then I will be wrong about Strotman.
  5. #10, 9, 8 and 7 are all promising pitchers. And there are 6 more spots to go, which will surely contain three more pitchers (Strotman, Caterino and Balazovic). I like it. 7 out of the top 10 prospects will be promising pitchers. Plus, neither Ober nor Ryan are eligible for this prospect list. That means, my friends, that the Twins have at least nine young, good, promising pitchers...some of whom can really throw heat. What are the odds that 50% will pan out to be useful major league pitchers? What are the odds that 2 of the 9 will become healthy, long-term starters? This group of pitchers is what I was hoping for when Derek Falvey and Thad Levine were hired. Thanks FO. Plus Lewis, Martin and Miranda will all be productive major leaguers for years to come. I am very optimistic for the Twins future. Especially IF, and these are 3 huge IF's, Lewis can quickly become 1) an above average, major league fielding SS, 2) an average hitter and 3) a team leader.
  6. These statistics about high school pitchers are concerning.
  7. Good write-up. Thanks for this encouraging report.
  8. Based on this analysis, Polanco should be the Twins SS this year. I would rather have a top defender at SS and a below average hitter, rather than a top hitter and below average defender. I can see both sides of this argument, however this is just my preference. .
  9. With the shifts being used today, the Twins need 2 shortstops (like Houston with Bregman and Correa) to play SS and 3B. Rifles for arms, quick feet, sticky gloves, smart leaders, able to hit above ,250 with some power (20 HR's) and STRIKE OUT LESS THAN 25% OF THE TIME . (Note: Caps were intended to make a point that I'm disgusted with the lack of contact in may hitters today.)
  10. Any chance of seeing the minor leaguers play the already scheduled Spring Training Games? I'm going to Ft Myers March 5-12 and have tickets to the Yankees, Phillies and Red Sox games with the Twins.
  11. I am so happy Buck signed with the Twins. I felt the same way about Joe Mauer. They both are outstanding examples for young people to emulate, and for us old guys too.
  12. To the owners and the players: Quit whining, quit posturing and get a mediator and compromise or you will kill the goose who has been laying the golden eggs that you all have been enjoying. You have certainly affected my spring training trip and I don't appreciate it. And while you are deciding how to divvy up your millions of dollars, will somebody please reimburse me my 400 dollars for spring training game tickets to see the Twins play the Yankees, Red Sox and Phillies and reimburse me for my Ft. Myers Airbnb which I rented to the tune of a thousand bucks?
  13. Is the red line gross revenue or net revenue. And if net revenue, how was the net amount decided? What expenditures were figured? .Many costs have gone up. The salaries of the players are just a part of the total costs of running a baseball team. Do these figures take into account revenue sharing? Many other questions about these statistics. I don't have near enough information in these statistics for me to accept them as proving anything.
  14. You are not the Lone Ranger, my friend. My wife and I are still going and we will enjoy the sunshine and Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge, a day or two at the beach, the "orange store" with fresh orange juice, Mission BBQ restaurant, some good seafood at a place on Sanibel Island, I really do enjoy wandering around the different ball fields watching the workouts. Plus I'm getting together with an army buddy who lives there. But I doubt my already purchased tickets to see the Twins vs. the Yankees, Phillies and Red Sox will be used for their intended purpose. I think I will try to get some interviews and pictures for TD with some minor leaguers. Of course my "interviews" will not compare with Seth's outstanding interviews. Hey, if any of you TD writers and readers want to meet and greet, I'll be there March 5 - 12th. When I'm at the ball parks, I'll look for suspicious looking characters who may be TD writers and readers and I'm not shy about asking if strangers post or write for Twins Daily, I'll be the old guy walking slowly wearing an olive green Second Infantry Division baseball style hat. Just yell out Tarheel and I'll know you read this post. I hope to meet some of you there. Now that I think about it, this week in Ft. Myers will be better than going to work in North Carolina. So thanks, I feel better now.
  15. Good points. Both sides are to blame in my opinion. I have spent over $400 for spring training game tickets in March 2022 at Ft. Myers, plus I have rented an AirBnB for a week. I am not a happy camper.
  16. Can anyone please explain to me the value of not hitting where the shift is located? Is it because you get extra credit when you have high exit velocity, no matter where the ball goes. Is velocity > location on long fly balls against a shift? I'm not trying to make a point here, I just want to know why any player would not try to hit differently against a shift? Maybe they are trying but just cannot do it. I really don't understand it, which makes at least two things in this time of statistically preventable covid deaths, which I can not understand.
  17. Nice summary. Now I remember Ricky (cough Shoemaker, Nishi, Bang, cough) Nolasco. I had forgotten him.
  18. 3 good prospects. We shall see how they progress. Thanks TD for keeping up with the Twins' prospects better than anyone, except the Twins organization itself.
  19. Thank you for TD. A 10 year anniversary celebration is appropriate. Cheers.
  20. Thanks Ted for writing about a painful subject.
  21. Trade Sano now to an NL team for young flame throwers . Let Arraez and Donaldson DH. Put Miranda at 3B. I assume he has a good arm.
