  1. Thank you. I spent several days in Duluth 20 + years ago during Octoberfest. I remember Grandma's Bar and watching the drawbridge from the patio. A fun time.
  2. How do I edit my comments after I post them? I meant 99 %.
  3. Nice , thoughtful article Andrew. I enjoyed reading it plus 94% of the comments. Keep writing.
  4. Good article. I feel OK about the pen. In fact I am somewhat optimistic that the Twins pen will be in the top 5 in MBL........the American League...........the AL Central.
  5. I agree that signing Story would help tremendously, but we still need more pitching in order to win now.
  6. Merry Christmas, my TD friends.
  7. After reading this article and the ZiPS projections, I am really depressed. At least beginning today, the days are getting longer.
  8. The Twins, a last place team, are not good enough to be struggling to find a place for Miranda to play in 2022. The Twins should put Miranda at 3B or LF and find another place for Donaldson or whoever was supposed to start in LF, to play.
  9. What then do we believe in trying to decide whether this "plan" of building from within is working?
  10. The national rankings of minor league players are not as kind to the Twins' prospects, as we here at TD are. For example, the only Twins prospect pitcher ranked in the MLB.com top 100 prospects is Balazovic who is way down at 81. If these rankings are to be believed, and if the twins are building a pitching staff from this farm system, then the Twins are doomed to more mediocrity.
  11. Great article Nick. This question needs to be discussed and answered by Derek and Thad and they need to report to TD in writing by the end of 2021.
  12. I'd say it is a "partial rebuild" from what the Twins ended with last year. Ober and Ryan were part of last years rebuild, since they were not starters for the Twinkies at the beginning of 2021, but during the 2021 year, they became starters and were regular starters at the end of the season. Maeda and Pineda are gone and who knows who the 5th starter was when the season ended last year? I sure don't. So we can take Ober and Ryan as 2 starters from the end of last year and they shall be called, "Holdovers" and the other 3-5 starters for 2022 will be new, and therefore can be part of a rebuilt rotation, therefore they shall be called "Rebuildables".
  13. Based on this "not a rebuilding" plan, which I just read about here, I just called a bookie in Las Vegas and told him the Twins were not rebuilding this year, they were going for the gold, and I bet $5,000 on the Twins to make the playoffs and $1,000 that the Twins would be in the World Series. Thanks Derek and Thad.
  14. I must quote Roberto Duran and say: "No mas, no mas !". Thank you for your polite and decisive rebuttal to my comments about Josh Donaldson. Your informative rebuttal proved beyond a doubt what most TD readers already know, and that is that I don't know what the hell I'm talking about.
  15. The Twins are way over-paying for the production by our current third baseman. The Twins will continue to way over-pay for Donaldson as long as the Twins have to pay the inflated contract to Donaldson. I'm sure there exist statistics which show how the production received from Donaldson (both offensive and defensive) has cost way too much for this huge contract. There has been , and will continue to be, to little bang for the buck involving Donaldson. This signing was not a cost efficient signing. The money should have been spent to extend Berrios.
  16. If Miranda can play 3B, and 2B, then he can probably learn to play LF fairly quickly. The Twins need his bat in the lineup in 2022 based on his minor league stats. The time is now.
  17. Doc, I hereby nominate this post of yours for one of the top ten posts of 2021. I especially liked your part which mentioned his "determination and fire" being valuable to the Twins. I disagreed with Gardy every time after a loss he would be quoted as saying:: "It's a long season". The current Twins need some Kirby Puckett positive fire.
