  1. Wouldn't the Twins fit the definition of an "underperforming club" which is also willing to sell?
  2. Thank you, JD, for those encouraging reminders. You are correct, the Twins are pretty good, even with the problems which the Twins have had this year and help is on the way. I'm glad your glass is half full and thanks for sharing.
  3. "Is That All There Is" is a song made famous by Peggy Lee. It is about a woman, who is disillusioned with her life's unique events. When she was a child, she watched her house burn, later she was excited to go to a circus, and later she fell in love for the first time. All of these events left her disappointed and she asks, "Is that all there is?" It is a melancholy tune, full of sadness. But another person might view these same 3 life events differently. One's attitude can affect one's view of life. I try to be optimistic, especially about things over which I personally have no control. However lately I have found myself humming the tune to this song, after watching another lethargic series of poor at bats by Twins hitters with runners in scoring position, as the Twins' house smolders.
  4. Maeda should be willing to help the Twins any way he can at this point in his Twins tenure. He owes it to the Twins.
  5. I don't remember if it was Bremer or Morneau who told of Rod Carew asking a batter if the batter makes any changes to his approach when he gets 2 strikes on him. The batter said he chokes up a little and widens his stance, so he has a better chance of hitting the ball. Carew then said: "Why don't you do that for every pitch?"
  6. Jeremy, great article which starts with classic first and second sentences. Thank you for this series. It is very informative and well researched.
  7. Two aces beat one ace in poker. Hope Ryan wins tonight.
  8. "Oh Lord won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz. My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends."
  9. Great write up. I wish the national prognosticators ranked the Twins' prospects higher.
  10. Just pop the shoulder back into place and promote him. These are desperate times.
  11. The two critical walks by Pagan upset me more than the grand slam. Those two walks were inexcusable. I was a terrible high school pitcher on a terrible high school team, but even I could/would throw strikes in that situation. Having said that, even a high school hitter would know that Pagan was going to throw a fastball down the middle after two straight walks which tied the game. It was the walks that did him in.
  12. Seth, I must say that I like your selection and ranking of the top 30 better than the top 30 as selected by the process. But then, I'm not worthy.
  13. Seth, This is just an amazing article. The work and organization which you, and others, put into this is very, very impressive. You deserve a handshake from Paul Hollywood.
  14. I really like Correa's skip throw to 1B for an out. Trevor Plouffe said that an infielder does not lose any time using a skip throw to 1B. Trevor said he practiced it and timed it. It makes sense, because a skip throw is low, allowing the first baseman to stretch to the max to receive the throw low. The shortest distance between two points is a straight line, and in order for the first baseman to stretch to the max, the throw must be low.
  15. How close is Jose Salas to being on the top 100 on the prospect list?
  16. Junior hit a home run over a light pole in the OF at Elizabethton in 2018. The Elizabethton FO person who told me this, said he had never seen anyone do that before.
  17. I can't believe none of the commentators have mentioned Polanco's return to the lineup on April 21, 2023. That was approximately 3 weeks ago. Polo's good switch hitting and adequate fielding at 2B and his experience are additional keys to the Twins' success this season.
  18. All of Twins Nation is pulling for Royce Lewis to be healthy.
