Your wonderful audio interviews give all of us opportunities to hear and see the intangibles of the prospects who you interview.     Good article and good discussion in the comments. It is fun to be leading in the race for the playoffs. This is much better than what we experienced last year. Last year was brutal.

    MLB teams are cold and calculating profit making organizations. The movers and shakers of each team make their decisions based on multiple factors, all of which are ultimately based on this question: "How will the bottom line of profits for this organization be affected by this particular move?" This is contrary to the bottom line for us fans, which is: "Will this particular move help my favorite team to win now and/or in the future?" Team owners' ultimate goals and team fans' ultimate goals are apples and oranges. I do understand that these goals overlap sometimes. For example, winning more games can be a sub-goal for the owners, only because winning usually results in increased profits for the owners. However, the ultimate goal of the owners remains increased profits.

    You are just exhausted from years of watching the Twins. You have no control over their wins or losses. Something must have happened in your life 3 years ago. Think back 3 years ago. What was it? I'm Dr. Fraiser Crane and I'm listening.

    You hit the nail on the head. I would be disappointed in the trip, if the Twins lost. But it would be fun to be surrounded by 35,000 screaming Twins fans pulling together for the Twins to win. I experienced that in 1987 and 1988 when I visited lovely Minneapolis. I don't get to experience that in North Carolina. Thanks David, for helping me think more clearly about an October visit when the Twins will be the home team for 2 or 3 playoff games.

    Do I really to make arrangements and pay the money to fly from North Carolina to Minneapolis, stay two or more nights in a downtown Minneapolis hotel, spend hundreds, or possibly more than a thousand dollars, buying 2 or 4 game tickets, and then fly back to North Carolina... for a playoff game, because there is a chance I will have spent several thousand dollars, only to see the Twins lose a game like this one today? I know it is just one game, but really...!

    For the want of a nail, a shoe was lost. Michael Taylor's lackadaisical play in lazily fielding a single, which became a double, resulted in this loss.

    I respectfully disagree because Kepler just said a positive change in clubhouse culture was the reason for his amazingly positive turn around the second half of this season. Maybe you are saying the Donaldson "toxicity" rumors have been talked to death, but the Yankees just released him this week. For these 2 reasons, I contend this topic is timely. Thanks Squirrel, for allowing me to disagree with you.

    I'd like to rephrase that to say the Twins have the 10th best chance of winning the World Series out of all 30 of the the major league teams. Maybe even better odds than that, since all 3 of the 1st round of playoff games that the Twins play will be at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota!

    The Astros put on their pants just like the Mariners and Rangers. But I do understand what you are saying. I just wish we were playing the current Yankees team. I loathe the Yankees.

    By the way, the odds of scoring from 2B with zero outs is 61%, while the odds of scoring from 3B after a sacrifice bunt, resulting in 1 out, is 66%. This makes me rethink my yelling "BUNT" at the computer screen every time a Twins' batter comes to bat with a Twin on on 2B with no outs. Maybe I'll start yelling, "Hit the ball to the right side of the field" when a Twin is on 2B with zero or 1 out.

    The odds of scoring from 3B with 1 out is 66%. The odds of scoring from 2B with one out is 41%. Gallo was correct in how he handled the situation last night, only he fell down.
