  1. Great guide John. Will a similar guide be forthcoming to TD about Minneapolis to help us North Carolinians who have not been to Minneapolis since 1987 & 1988 (Mark Davidson invited me both times to see the Twins play some great baseball at the Metro Dome) when we come to town for the playoffs Oct 3rd?
  2. I would put Royce Lewis #1 (who will probably take over SS when C-4 moves to 3B in several years), Jenkins #2, Kirilloff #3, Julian #4, Wallner #5, Lee #6, Duran #7, E. Rodriguez #8, Soto #9, and Raya #10. Obviously, I am emphasizing potential more than Cody is in his rankings, and that's OK. The Twins need more high ceiling young pitchers in the system.
  3. Good game tonight. Duran needs to locate his curves off the plate and not over the middle of the plate.
  4. I contend the Twins were in need of an "ace-like" starting pitcher more than they needed a batting champion at 2B to benefit this 2023 team. I also contend the Twins have more promising young second basemen (Julien, Lee, Lewis) than promising starting pitchers (I challenge you to name 3 who are expected to be good enough to replicate what Lopez has done this year alone) in the Twins' system.
  5. Interesting proposal to put Buck at 1B. I don't recall having seen that proposal before. I am interested in reading the pros and cons of that move.
  6. Where do I order my playoff tickets?
  7. Kirilloff looks good at 1B. Lewis looks good at 3B. Polo does not look good at 3B. Gallo went 4 for 4 last night with 2 homers. Where did that come from? Where will Lee play next year?
  8. My grandparents lived in Washington, DC, where I was born. Although I moved to North Carolina when I was 5, I became a Washington Senators fan in 1954 during a visit to my grandparents' home in DC. Plus the Charlotte minor league team was a Senators farm team for years and we got the Charlotte newspaper. Who couldn't pull for Clint "Scrapiron" Courtney, Lyle Lutrell. Angel Scull, Wayne Terwilliger, Harmon Killebrew, Bob Allison, Jim Lemon, Camilo "Little Potato" Pascual, Pedro "The Yankee Killer" Ramos, Eddie "Walking Man" Yost, Roy Sievers, Cookie Lavagettoa and Chuck Dressen as managers, Chuck Stobbs, Little Albie Pearson, etc. And, as they say, the rest is history.
  9. Why would a manager bat the league leader in grounding into double plays immediately after the teams on base percent leader?
  10. For 2024, who is the weakest fielding infielder among Lee, Lewis and Julien? It is Julien. The other 2 can play major league shortstop. Therefore leave Lewis and Lee flanking Correa in some manner and move Julien to LF. It shouldn't be too difficult for Julien to manage playing LF. The Twins would have 3 shortstops playing 3B, SS and 2B. I like that infield with Kirilloff at 1B. Now about CF? I'm perfectly happy with MAT manning CF and Willi Castro at utility and designated runner and Solano at pinch hitter and utility. Farmer can back up at SS, 2b and 3B. Wallner in RF. Jeffers and Vasquez at catcher.
  11. All comments make very good points. Thank you.
  12. I live in the southeast (North Carolina) and I am thrilled that Joe Mauer played his whole career for my favorite tea, the Minnesota Twins. Joe Mauer was always an outstanding player and the epitome of a class act. It's too bad he is not running for president of the United States.
  13. Career against left handed pitchers BA - .262; OPB - .328; SLG - .449; OPS - .777. This year has been worse as expected. He can play 1B, OF and DH. Mancini's fielding is not as good as Gallo's but he would be an extremely low cost, RH hitter. Mancini, a survivor of colon cancer, was one of the first to reach out to Liam Hendricks, when Hendricks was diagnosed with cancer. A classy move.
  14. Last night's game spoke volumes about Polonco playing 3B. He was moved to 2B because he didn't have the arm nor the legs to play SS, Why should Rocco or the FO expect him to be able to throw accurately and with power from 3B? He was not charged with committing any errors last night, but he committed 2. Put Lewis at 3B. Leave Julian at 2B. Thank Polo for his good play in the past and trade him. The Twins have better, more useful defenders at each IF position, and at utility also. He could be useful at DH however, there is the problem of Buck needing to play DH.
  15. I may be the only one, but I am content with the Twins not making any trades before the deadline, other than Lopez. I still think this is a good team, waiting for the spark Royce Lewis will surely bring soon.
  16. I suggest the Twins keep calm and carry on. The vast majority of the bargains go to the Sellers. Any bargains close to the trade deadline are the young prospects which the contending teams (Buyers) give up in order to increase by a very small percentage the contending teams' odds of winning it all over the next 2 and a half months, at the expense of the Buyers' future.
  17. Yes to the question about another players only meeting. It helped before, it may help again. I suggest the players each be given a copy of this article and these interesting stats at this second players only meeting.
  18. Good luck to my fellow North Carolinian. In fact, I'm looking out the window at the Atlantic Ocean as I am thinking what to type next in this comment. My family and I are spending my two weeks in Jenkins' home county at Oak Island, NC. It is a beautiful oceanfront community that my family and I visit annually for vacation.
  19. The Twins' 2023 season reminds me of several quotes from "Gone With The Wind". Scarlett says to Rhett: "Where shall I: go?" As he walks out, Rhett says: "Frankly my dear I don't give a damn." And finally, the last line delivered by Scarlett: "After all, tomorrow is another day,"
