  1. I'm "over" on all but Sanchez's homers. I think Kiriloff plays a lot of first base and Sano is the DH for a bunch of games. I am an unabashed homer, though, so...
  2. Openers and Bullpen games, friends. I hate it, but get used to it. We are going to see a bunch of them
  3. You can never have too much good pitching. Not sure this qualifies as such.
  4. Saw Hosken hit a 3-run homer in the 9th inning against the Brewers' Jim Slaton in 1981 at the Met. Slaton took a no-hitter into the ninth inning. Twins still lost 5-3 with Rollie Fingers closing it out.
  5. Great article! You need pitching depth. Sam Malone is retired and in a TV series instead of a movie. However, I think Dave Spiwak is available as a waiver claim.
  6. AAA depth. Guys on the 40 man roster can't play minor league ball during lockout
  7. That was just terrific. Thank so much for the outstanding look back!
  8. My favorite Jaime Garcia may be just now when I found out that he is working with a Christian organization to provide safe water to developing countries.
  9. You ranked Buddy Ebson way too low
  10. I agree. It's pretty obvious that they're going to role with the young guys in the rotation and probably also the bullpen. I'm not saying that's what they should do; I'm saying that's what they're going to do.
  11. I have met Tony a number of times over the years. He is always such a great guy to talk to. A few years ago my daughter met in concessions line at Target Field. She told him he was her dad's favorite player. He immediately had his picture taken with her to send to me. I am super happy that he was elected to the Hall of Fame
  12. Imagine if he could stay on the field for 4 or 5 of those seasons!
  13. I think where the bullpen is concerned, the Twins need a lot of guys with options left. This is especially true if their rotation is going to include young pitchers with innings limitations or scrap-heap guys who won't go deep into games. The bullpen will be forced to eat a lot of innings. The Twins will need a lot of bullpen guys on the shuttle back and forth from St. Paul.
  14. If they wanted to hit him, they should have sent Tortuga back out there the next day. How about a 43 mph lob to ribs?
  15. Unlucky? Yes. Playing extremely poorly? Yes. A ridiculous amount of injuries to key players? Yes. That's a bad combination. Offense? Bad. Pitching? Bad. Defense? Bad. AND at the worst possible time....the last innings of close games. Aside from all that, I think the season has gone quite well.
  16. With Buxton out - you know what that means. Large doses of Jake Cave!
  17. No more washed up vets? Shoemaker is on the hill tonight.
  18. Hated to see Maeda leave so early while pitching so well. Then the bullpen.... I'm just glad the offense kept tacking on runs
  19. Wouldn't a Snell, Darvish, Lynn or Sonny Gray have made a sizable difference in the team's outlook now? “I think I may have found a way for us to get Bonds and Griffey, and we wouldn’t have to give up that much.” - George Costanza
  20. Matt Capps is thinking of making a come-back as the Twins closer. "I was bad, but nowhere as bad as this guy."
  21. Did Rocco get dropped on his head? Early Alheimer's? "Game on line. Who should I bring in? The guy who loses the game EVERY TIME he pitches? Or any other pitcher? Hmm. I'll bring in Alexander the Great. I'm sure it will work out."
