  1. Now was absolutely the time for the Thielbar reclamation project. With 3/5 of the rotation on the IL, and the bullpen overused lately - thank goodness Thielbar gutted out nearly 3 innings to everyone else a rest day.
  2. The kid is certainly talented. Once he has a few weeks of video out there, teams will adapt to how they pitch him. Will he then make his own adjustments? If he can do that at age 22, and he can stay healthy, watch out!
  3. I look at Cleveland's outfield, and I believe Cave is far better than any of them.
  4. That's a way better lineup than Detroit, Baltimore, or Kansas City are running out there.
  5. 5-6 inning starters are fine if you have a great bullpen. And the Twins look to have a great bullpen.
  6. I love going to Kauffman for a Twins series. Very knowledgeable fans. Great people and a fun town. They need to trade their four or five top players to teams that will part with prospects. Lots and lots of prospects. They have to restock their farm system that they decimated when they "went for it" during their World Series years.
  7. Sal and Drew Butera Ron and Toby Gardenhire The Griffith family dating back to the days in Washington.
  8. The fact that Carew put Griffith's comments behind him says a lot about Rodney's character. Carew was always one of my favorite players, even after he was traded.
  9. Unfortunately for veteran players, teams are realizing that they can get about the same value from a young player at league minimum rather than overpaying an experienced player.
  10. If "cool" is calm and collected at all times, then Taylor Rogers is #1
  11. Per baseballreference.com, Bert Blyleven's career WAR, 7-year peak, and JAWS all surpass average HOF starting pitchers. Look at his career WAR! An easy HOF choice. JAWS Starting Pitcher (16th): 94.5 career WAR / 50.3 7yr-peak WAR / 72.4 JAWS Average HOF P (out of 65): 73.3 career WAR / 50.0 7yr-peak WAR / 61.6 JAWS
  12. I am currently reading cool of the evening. What an amazing book. If you are a twins fan or even just a casual baseball fan, you will enjoy this book immensely

  14. Kyle Gibson led the team in bWAR with 3.2, and Plouffe was second with 2.9
  15. Kubel in Arizona gear? That was tough because my family knew his family and had followed him throughout his minor/major league career.
  16. I saw my first major league baseball game at the old met in 1981. They were no-hit for eight innings by Jim Slaton of the Brewers. Man that was a bad Twins team!
  17. Baseball games with no fans in the stands? Tampa Bay has been doing that for years. Who knew that the Ray's were so far ahead of their time?
  18. I think one thing that makes this pitching staff so scary is not necessarily how good or deep the rotation is, but how good and deep the bullpen is. The starters won't have to go seven innings.
