  1. They need to replenish the minors with prospects. Even if it's a few low level lottery tickets.
  2. Neither pitcher is anywhere close to being worthy of a qualifying offer. Are you seriously thinking either pitcher could command the offer? The 2022 qualifying offer was 18.4M. No way would either pitcher command that. I never wasted a second thinking about it because neither are that elite to command it.
  3. My guess is that Wacha is trying to secure at least a 2-3 year deal at close to 13-15M a year. His agent would stand firm now that he is the best free agent on the market yet to sign. I wouldn't be against it and then try to move Mahle or Gray soon after. May as well trade one of them now since they will both be free agents and then they won't get anything for them then. I wouldn't even mind if they only got prospects in return. They need to rebuild after trading away so many pieces.
  4. Teams don't trade away young pitchers under team control that cheap.
  5. At least Gallo is not a defensive liability. And I never listened to it.
  6. I guess your reading skills are a little slow today. There is quite a but of difference between 10 and 25. Also, most starters are getting closer to 600 AB so that also takes the number down with more AB. So try again...
  7. The "experts" claim banning the shift will account for 10 more hits. SO that's not that huge. Of course some could get more hits.
  8. I say not much. The Giants are still on tilt after getting lucky and losing Correa. They also overpaid for Michael Conforto who never played last year. They are just trying to do something to appease their fans.
  9. Boston would demand at least one prospect in the Twins top 3 prospects and a whole lot more than just "throw ins" like those 3. Besides the fact the Twins cannot trade for players with just 1 year of team control and Devers is like 26 or so and he will get a 12+ year contract after this season and most likely 35M+ a year. Teams like the Met, Dodgers, and Yankees to name a few make trades like this because they feel they have a better chance at resigning the player.
  10. None of the listed deals are even the best "bang for the buck" deals that happened this winter.
  11. Not even close for what Boston could get for Devers. Kepler & Arraez wouldn't be that attractive of trade chips for Boston. If you could merge the 2 into 1 player it would be great, A good hitting outfielder that is decent in the Outfield. Not sure why everyone thinks Arraez is so great. He is best used at DH. Then you have a DH without power. Still confused why he isn't just thrown into the leadoff spot to make the starter work right away and let everyone else see shat he's got that day. Set the table early and hope for an early run. Devers is also going to be a free agent and unless you can get a 24-48 hour window or so to try to sign a long term deal you just wasted "trade chips" for a rental. I wouldn't be shocked if he gets moved because you would have expected Boston to be trying to sign him long term now or trade him for valuable controllable players and prospects.
  12. I'm sure Boras called and said put up 10 years and 325 million and he's yours. The Giants dodged a bullet and Cohen is just an idiot.
  13. Hopefully the Twins lose their number. Way too many times they have traded away damaged goods and the other team gets burned.
  14. That's what teams do to pitchers on the last year of the contract. No point in saving them unless you really like the guy and want him back.
  15. If they get blown away of course they could trade either player. You also have to think of what a possible Kepler and prospects could bring back for a starter as well. Nathan Eovaldi, Jordan Lyles, Michael Wacha, and Corey Kluber out there as free agents. Not the sexiest names out there but there is potential at the right price.
  16. Sounds about right. Also, teams won't want to give up a draft pick to sign him to a 2-3 year deal with opt outs.
  17. So does it matter then? If Arraez is the only one that can hit and he doesn't have power or speed he is stranded on first. Also nobody will be on base so he won't drive anyone in. And the new metrics he isn't the leadoff hitter and he should be.
  18. Do Boras and Correa at least send the Twins a nice gift basket for making the Giants pay up?
  19. Sale is broken and I doubt he ever comes back any where near his top form.
  20. Just sign Jose Iglesias to a dirt cheap deal.
  21. It would be a 2-3 year deal with opt outs. That's the route I would take if i made the choice.
  22. As much as I like Arraez I have no issue trading a 1 trick pony for starting pitching. I never liked having a 1st basemen under 6 ft. SignTrey Mancini to a 1-2 year deal and figure out what to do about shortstop.
