  1. I've been trying to figure out what I'd do for some time (assuming he opts out). 1. Extend CC. I just don't see them doing that. They have Lewis and Lee ready by middle of next year, and they can sign a legit player at another position for less. (who/what position, unsure). 2. The real question, imo, is the timeline for Lewis' return. If he's projected back "early", I'm ok with Palacios/Gordon as placeholders. Early is May 1 or earlier. If he's projected back later than that, I try to sign a SS. Maybe even one of the expensive ones. I don't see THAT happening, but it is possible. I haven't checked the non-expensive list yet.
  2. Celebration thread. Sigh. Ok, look it up if you want to comment on it.
  3. You don't seem to be arguing the point at all. They didn't trade berrios until they were out of it in 21. Who says they weren't trying to be competitive this year? They didn't trade any veterans away at the deadline, which is the point. I am baffled at this reply.
  4. The Yankees can also just buy great players if needed. That context seems important.
  5. Perhaps that was my point. Kiriloff if healthy. Arraez ( not that young) or Martin or Gordon at second. Lewis at short. Miranda at third. Wallner and Larnach have looked legit. I'm not sure your point at all, frankly. What was your point? Mine was they have graduated a lot of top ranked rookies lately, which is why the farm ranking is dropping. What was your point?
  6. By graduation almost entirely. But not gutted, no. If they wanted, their entire infield could be rookies or second year players next year. Plus Wallner and Larnach in the outfield. The pitching staff could be sixty percent second year players in the starters. I think it's graduation that is effecting the ranking.
  7. The farm system isn't close to gutted. Not even a little. I think that last sentence indicates that you don't agree that risk is real, frankly. Of course the fans want a good team, so does the FO and ownership. Sometimes you take chances and they don't work. They spent weeks/months playing their 5-9th best OFers, often all three at once.
  8. I doubt they were suggesting a 1:`1 trade......
  9. He looks like he might be legit. We can hope so.
  10. I still think an auction system is the best idea, with the worst teams getting advantages. Never going to happen though
  11. But they didn't. So, given that, should they have done nothing? I mean, that's a completely different discussion....
  12. Imagine if they had done nothing! Paddock is different than Mahle, as they paid very little for him because of the risk. People seem to forget that
  13. The last two episodes of House of the Dragon were so much better than the first three, I can't believe it's the same show.
  14. I liked it. Going to be really annoying as they drag out the big secret. Not that I'm likely to keep watching it. But it's possible.
  15. Lee and SWR are the cream of those guys, but if Varland is a starter or reliver, is a great story That said, Wallner seems to adjust at every level, and has a pedigree. His ascent is very timely given the health of their projected OF.
  16. Strotman was always the extra piece. A lottery ticket.
  17. They've proven they can't win by winning the division twice.... I think the FO has two big issues. Terrible first round picks too often. Terrible bullpen management. An awful lot rides on the budget next year. They can afford a top SS. And pitching, though I think their best route there is dealing with Miami.
  18. I'd move Mahle and Maeda to relief, like two inning guys every four days or so. I'd likely bring back Sanchez, given the options. If Miami is really trading one of their good starters, I'm in. I'd certainly consider one of the elite SS, but I don't see it. I'd listen on Kepler and Polanco, but be in no hurry to move them.
  19. This. They need to put Martin at second or left or center and let him get comfortable, imo.
  20. That's a heck of a straw man. I was refuting the "fact" he was so bad he couldn't play on the majors. No place did I say he was Buxton.
  21. He was one of the highest rated defenders this year before getting hurt. By every site. Nothing in your post is factual.
