  1. “his UCL is only 60% torn. You promised us it was 75% torn! @!#%”
  2. Signing Correa to one-year options made sense last year. Correa is very good but I have performance questions about his time in Houston, and am worried he would be a candidate to really fall off at some point. We should give him the benefit of the doubt for his injuries, but there is a history there. Signing him to a lifetime deal makes me really uneasy. What happens to Lewis and Lee then? What am I missing?
  3. Don’t forget to select “Auto-renewal” on those podcasts, doc, cuz after about a week you’re gonna forget you ever subscribed, theyre gonna keep pushing you the product anyway, and you don’t want those nasty umpires sending you to collections after 6 months plus 90 days ?
  4. There are some nice suggestions in this article, but at this point, even Tommy Herr would be the first to tell you that only God can help this Twins team!
  5. I wonder if the Reds would have considered trading Castillo last winter for a package of Petty, Steer, and the other prospects we sent off at the deadline. Or throw in Rogers, since they seemed set on trading him, or throw in a Varland/Ober/Wallner since those guys are the new heartthrobs. And then the extension Castillo signed with the Mariners was in the ballpark of the Berrios and Wheeler contracts. From my point of view, the Twins usually pass when there are chances to get guys better than Gray.
  6. Brian Allmendinger's Ford Fiesta was parked next to Jim Anchower's Ford Festiva. That was not a cigarette he was smoking out there, to be blunt with you.
  7. Pressly have worked back to back days, so I imagine he is shelved for the rest of the ALCS ?
  8. I am glad you see the value of catching lightning in a bottle for one magical season, especially in this market, would elevate them to the status of Gods forever. Wrongly, in my opinion, but whatever. It would be a fun ride. I think where the front office needs to place their faith is in their very first real success story, drafting Royce Lewis as their future shortstop. and best case scenario, a potential star. That was the original long term plan, so if I were advising them, I would say their best bet is to go back to that plan. But if this front office is anything, it’s unpredictable.
  9. I think the much better time to spend would have been prior to 2018, 2019, and 2020, with Mauer coming off the books and the core entering its peak seasons of performance. That said, I would not be disappointed if they re-signed Correa.
  10. Luis Arraez has been compared to Tony Gwynn, but Gwynn wasn’t used in the super utility role like Arraez is (the good news is that moving him around the diamond doesn’t seem to affect his hitting). Gwynn, Carew, whoever, Probably some one will dig up some examples of great hitters who played various positions during the course of a season. That’s fine. I respect your posts highly but I would suggest that this front office get back to basics and start fielding a baseball team the proper way— with tobacco spit, nut cup grabs, choking up with two strikes, and everyday ballplayers. As for next year, I think they can use Polanco at short until Lewis returns.
  11. On the other hand, couldn’t you build a team the old fashioned way, and name Arraez as your full time second baseman, and work from there? My impression from reading Twins Daily is that Arraez is a below average fielder, but we’ve seen enough to know that he is plenty competent to play second, regardless of where his ranking sits on a given metric. Any flaws in his fielding record are more than made up by his hitting record. I think the best thing for the team is to pen Arraez into the lineup as leadoff hitter and second baseman.
  12. It’s ironic, given your screen name, because I don’t know if you listen to the games on the radio often or not, but Dan Gladden and Cory Provus routinely see deeper into the game than Rocco apparently does, and Gladden out-manages Rocco in real time on a regular basis. By the way, basically the whole radio team including Atteberry and the backups to him, everyone there sounds fed up with the starting pitcher usage. It’s not just some nasty people on the Internet who are questioning it.
  13. The radio guys, even Atteberry, were questioning the pinch running thing until the end of the broadcast. Lest anyone think this is just a bunch of fans whining on the Internet. What also bothers me about it is that if the game had gone to the 10th, or if Contreras had extended the inning, it would have been Miranda’s spot due back up, but with Miranda out of the game. (To add: in my opinion the top of the 8th when the home team still has two at bats is more often than not too soon to start making these types of substitutions, especially with the personnel the Twins have right now) There are going to be close low scoring games again in 2023 and game management must get better. In case no one has mentioned that yet this year.
  14. @Nate Palmer did you have any insights on Arraez’s status as a pinch hit possibility or on the pinch running situation in the 8th?
  15. Matt Garza was voted MVP of the 2008 ALCS. That was the year the Rays finally came out of nowhere with their analytical approach and went to their first World Series, after years of being the league’s door mat. I think other teams still don’t know exactly what they are doing right.
  16. I feel most bad for Kirilloff. That surgery sounds less than ideal.
  17. That these games do not have meaning actually makes it an ever better reason for Mahle to “be out there” as Wolfson says. The throwaway line in the Tweet about extending Mahle is what I will interpret as a bad joke meant to disrespect the fans, but the fans are used to it by now. I don’t check on Wolfson at all anymore so maybe it is sarcasm or a sideways comment on the original trade for Mahle, and if so I apologize. Anyway, bottom line is, if Mahle says he is feeling fine, if he wants to pitch, and the front office knows this, then the front office should have scheduled a start for Mahle this week against Chicago.
  18. At this point in time I think it makes the most sense to skip 2023 and rebuild for 2024 with Lewis, Arraez, and Brooks Lee I guess. Larnach and Wallner might fit at a corner somewhere. Maybe Kirilloff makes a full recovery. That would be a lot of offense. It’s still yet to be seen what their plan is for pitching, but maybe some of these young guys will be allowed to develop the way pitchers have always been allowed to develop, or at least since the 70s or 80s when the fireman came on the scene.
  19. In a nutshell, the quality of Twins commentary is going to reflect the team’s Win-Loss record and playoff success, regardless of platform or medium. Bringing in new baseball operations people, new coaches, will hopefully make the team better, send them deep into the postseason, and in turn improve the quality of the site and better discussion. Some of us see all of that as interrelated, the first part being the most important part that leads to the last part. Sure, as long as you are mentioning the quality of the site, I will also say that I think this site was better when it was more of a hobby for a few devoted writers, than whatever it is now. But there are still great things happening on here. Why completely jump ship here for Twitter?
  20. I did not see any vitriol in this thread, certainly none up to the point you posted this. If the vitriol you are seeing is coming from Twitter, from the outside, why bring it into to your website?
