  1. The Yankees mop up guy is better than most of our whole staff
  2. yep, four strikes is too many to give to a middle-of-order MLB hitter
  3. My first reaction is that he squeezes the strike zone, but I don't know. Could be something else. The game Berrios started in NY recently was painful to watch due to an umpire who wouldn't call strikes for Twins pitchers.
  4. I hope they carry Moya as a loogy. He struck out Gregorius in an earlier outing. I think it will require a 40-man transaction first.
  5. Hopefully we will not also be playing against the umpiring. Big Baseball will want the Yankees to win this game.
  6. I am looking forward to your game recap, and many more starting on Thursday that will follow!
  7. The Yankees wildcard opponent (the Twins) are literally an afterthought to this Fangraphs writer. Maybe he is angling for a job at ESPN or FOX
  8. Probably. Should be interesting to see who pitches Saturday.
  9. Pitching 3 times in 4 days, after clinching a spot, seems a little excessive, is all. Should be fine.
  10. I would have thought one or two days rest before Tuesday was ideal, but all of their good relievers appear to be pitching tonight and they are going with three days rest, I guess
  11. Kind of nice to give Berrios a chance for that ovation. Didn't think of that!
  12. Ok I kind of want Berrios to come out of the game now, Paul
  13. Elvis is IN the building* * on the mound, and at the plate
  14. I felt the Kintzler trade hurt their chances, but didn't kill their chances. It feels like 7-dimensional chess to think F & L knew that trading Kintzler would put the team back in the WC race. I like you did that research, by the way.
  15. They have been a tight clubhouse all year, and I think they did all rally together when the FO traded Kintzler.
  16. Good point. Instead of "fold", I chose to describe those competing teams as "didn't make a run" and I called it surprising that other teams didn't make a run, although I think the Angles did make a good run at it, until their schedule got difficult.
  17. Subtract the recent 6 game lose streak from the Angels 27-25 record, and I call that 27-19 record a strong run. You don't, I do.
