  1. Almost impossible for a 5 round draft to be deep.
  2. Draft picks go bust all the time. The Twins got Wallner, Steer, Canterino, Headrick, Julien and Varland out of the 2019 draft which more than makes up for Cavaco. 2020 was a small draft but Raya makes up for missing on Sabato. I think they deserve some slack drafting based on a month's worth of data in 2020.
  3. If you look at his college numbers you wouldn't predict 140 strikeouts a season but that's what he's done in the minors.
  4. Donovan has hits like Luis Arraez
  5. Was hoping for more Sunshine Superman in the article. Husker Du Sunshine Superman - YouTube
  6. I've seen people say we don't want to put Canterino or Balazovic on the 60 day IL because we shouldn't pay a minor leaguer a major league salary to sit on the injured list. Isn't that exactly what they would be doing with Royce Lewis? Wouldn't it be even worse because they would be burning service time on their best prospect when they could option Lewis and burn service time on the older prospect Canterino (or the least valuable prospect Balazovic) instead? Isn't the service time more important than the $500,000 difference in pay?
  7. I see the battle for the last roster spot between Larnach and Kirilloff. Celestino is already penciled in at AAA. Solano is an adequate backup but I don't know how he fits into the lineup. He doesn't do anything better than someone else already on the roster.
  8. Nick Gordon for a reliever would be a good move for this roster.
  9. My rebound pick is Matt Canterino. Hoping he comes back from ligament replacement surgery strong in September.
  10. Greinke didn't strike out 100 last year. It will probably take until 2024 for him to make it into that club.
  11. It's hard to throw any movement pitch if you can't use your fingers effectively. It's impossible to be an effective major league pitcher without a movement pitch.
  12. Will he start the season at AAA? There isn't any room for him in the rotation if they keep Winder and Sands as starters. There are no expectations for Randy Dobnak this season. He's an afterthought.
  13. My guess is PECOTA is predicting a low run scoring environment for 2023.
  14. They paid a lot for Lopez. He's going to get as many chances as Colome.
  15. If everyone is healthy there isn't really enough room for everyone. Balazovic and Henriquez would end up back in Double-A to begin the season.
  16. Everything is so regressed in the predictors that you will rarely see an outstanding season or a terrible season.
  17. They can put players on the 60 day injured list as of a few days ago.
  18. If he's cheap enough to sign his mom might buy enough tickets to make it profitable.
  19. Upgrade the spot now and upgrade it again later if you want. There's no reason to leave 3 spots (Paddack, Lewis, Canterino) empty right now.
  20. The 5.66 ERA in AAA is more valuable when predicting this season. You can't count on everyone to be better than last year. As many will be worse as are better. I will go on record as saying that I think Winder and Sands should be converted to relief immediately. I'd still start them in AAA if possible.
  21. They should add SOMEBODY. There is no reason to have empty roster spots at the beginning of the season. That's a waste of a resource.
  22. I think they are doomed if they need to count on Dobnak, Balazovic, Sanchez, Henriquez, Sands or Headrick this season. That's 6 guys I don't want to see pitching for the Twins this season if they pitch anything like they did last season (which should be the default expectation). I'm not a big fan of Pagan, Megill or Coulombe either. I like the available free agents (including Hand) over that field. Their starting pitching depth is improved but the bullpen depth is terrible unless they eat their seed corn and convert the AAA starters into relievers. They moved Duran to the bullpen last year and now he's "too valuable" to move back to the rotation.
