  1. Arraez reminds me more of a different player from the 1980's - Wade Boggs. Boggs was also a high average, low power player without speed.
  2. Can't these articles wait until the offseason? Enjoy watching a first place team. Worry about next season later.
  3. That's really the problem here. Almost no bullpen can give you 6 shutdown innings, plus they'll need at least 9 more innings from them in the next 2 games. I think I would have pitched Pagan instead of Duffey there but that still means they need someone to pitch at least one more inning and they still lose the game 5-4.
  4. I agree with this. I'm especially perplexed why he thought it was a good idea to use Duffey in back-to-back games.
  5. Cole Sands, Dylan Bundy and Chris Archer isn't going to get it done as a playoff rotation.
  6. I thought this was going to be about Kyle Gibson when I read the title.
  7. I think Kirilloff probably would have received the call instead of Contreras against the Blue Jays but he was sent back to St. Paul because he also couldn't enter Canada.
  8. Not really. I'd rather have Austin Martin in my farm system and get a middle reliever some other way. The league may be down on him but high end talent is worth taking a chance on. If he's ready to take Jorge Polanco's job in 2024 that's soon enough.
  9. Then you're not going to get much in return for him trading him now. Those are your options - trade him for a relief pitcher or keep him and see if he can tap into his talent.
  10. Don't sell low on Martin. That would be like trading Royce Lewis in the 2021-22 offseason. Sell high on Steer instead.
  11. Given how much playing time we have seen Nick Gordon get in the outfield and Gary Sanchez receive at DH I would say there are some at-bats available.
  12. Miranda has been in a groove in the big leagues for the past 2 weeks. He's hit .333/.358/.778. Why would you want to demote him?
  13. Canada also has universal healthcare. I'm sure they don't want unvaccinated people entering the country, getting sick and filling hospital beds there.
  14. Not according to the FDA's own press release. Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update: FDA Takes Key Action by Approving Second COVID-19 Vaccine | FDA
  15. Both the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines have had full FDA approval for adults since January and August, respectively. You can't say that for any other COVID treatments.
  16. I'd like to see Martin playing 2B and the outfield. Polanco and Kepler are both nearing the end of their contracts. He's not a shortstop.
  17. I'm a little surprised they added Megill to the roster a few days ago.
  18. I was one who wanted the Twins to pick up Miley off waivers during the offseason. He's only pitched 3 games for Chicago and he's back on the injured list. They have plenty of injured pitchers.
  19. Yeah, but they only get 40 roster spots. They're not going to cut the big leaguers and go with the rotation from Double-A until they're forced to do that. If someone else wants a call-up they need to get ahead of Sands in the pecking order. Devin Smeltzer was able to do that. Henriquez, Balazovic and Strotman have been terrible in AAA. Derek Rodriguez, Jharel Cotton and Chi Chi Gonzalez are 30 years old, they're not kids. The cupboard is mostly bare in St. Paul.
  20. Cole Sands pitched yesterday. He was not good.
  21. So he pitches poorly to the top of the lineup but can get the bottom of the lineup out.
  22. Perhaps. Archer might work best as a 3 inning opener to keep him on a regular schedule. I'm not sure Archer's arm can hold up to back-to-back relief work. Plus, Winder is probably limited to 100 more innings this season. They both seem limited in innings and need extended rest. Put them together and they could give you 7 innings every 5th game.
  23. He's not a great option but he's better than Cole Sands. With Winder, Paddack and Ryan all out there aren't any better options. Joe Ryan and Josh Winder should be back soon. That would temporarily make the depth chart Ryan / Gray / Ober / Winder / Smeltzer / Bundy / Archer. I am going to guess Smeltzer gets optioned or turned into a long reliever but I'd love to see Bundy and Archer moved to the bullpen. We could see Winder piggy-back with Archer again.
