  1. Miranda would be my starting first baseman. His bat is ready and his glove is LOT better than Sano's.
  2. For me this is a no-brainer. Play Sano at DH every day and play someone who can actually field at first base. Arraez is certainly a better first baseman than Sano. Look at the Fangraphs projections. Miguel Sanó - Stats - Batting | FanGraphs Baseball Sano is projected at -10 to -20 (!!!) runs at first base for 2022. Any mediocre first baseman is 1 to 2 wins better. That's huge, especially when you're trying to piece together a pitching rotation with a lot of question marks. Moving Sir Clanks-a-Lot to full time DH makes him MORE valuable - you can't say that for anyone else on the roster.
  3. That's Miguel Sano. A bat who can't play defense worth a damn. Replacing Sano at 1B with ANYONE ELSE (Arraez, Urshela, Kirilloff, Sanchez, etc) is like adding a gold glover to the defense. What's the point of having a platinum glove shortstop with Sir Clanks-A-Lot playing first base?
  4. I agree but I'm willing to wait until May to make that move. Austin Martin could be an All-Star in LF. He's not a SS.
  5. Gary Sanchez is better at playing catcher than Sano is at playing first base.
  6. Every time Sano butchers a play at 1B, so probably every other game.
  7. If Sano isn't the everyday DH there's going to be a lot of yelling at the radio in my house. The baseline for 1B defense (and left field) just went up with the introduction of the DH in the National League. The AAA depth players weren't there because they can't field, it was because they couldn't hit well enough to DH.
  8. An average draft for a team yields two major leaguers and one of those two isn't anything special.
  9. Duran is more suited to relieve but he's not a lefty. They're not going to find one better than Max Kepler
  10. I'd rather play Sanchez at 1B than Sano. Sano might be the worst first baseman on the team.
  11. Someone needs to come in as a defensive replacement after Buxton gets his two at-bats.
  12. I still think there is a spot in the lineup everyday for either Miranda or Larnach. Kirilloff will fill either 1B or LF on a daily basis. That leaves the other spot open. I don't know how much longer Miranda needs to beat up on AAA before they give him a shot in the infield. Play the kid at first base.
  13. Not competition - platoon. They're complementary hitters.
  14. If Sanchez, Jeffers and Sano are all in the same lineup then 1) Obviously a lefthanded pitcher. Urshela and Garlick are also probably in the lineup. 2) I want Gary Sanchez playing 1B instead of Sano.
  15. I think they will carry a RH hitting outfielder - Rooker or Garlick or possibly a waiver wire acquisition. They will carry Nick Gordon at least until the roster sizes shrink again. He can pinch run and come in on defense. They won't carry 3 catchers because there is no reason to use Sanchez as the DH. Jeffers and Sanchez will share the catching spot. Urshela and Arraez should platoon at 3B. I would be tempted to put Kirilloff in LF and use Miranda as my starting 1B.
  16. Sanchez should rarely DH. Sano should be in that spot nearly every day. If Sano sits vs a tough RHP then Sanchez is probably not useful as the DH.
  17. Against lefthanded pitchers, yes. I think Arraez and Urshela make a great platoon at 3B. Josh Donaldson is projected to have an 800 OPS. Arraez hit .307/.364/.392 vs RHP last season and Urshela hit .293/.312/.466 against LHP.
  18. I believe he would receive the minor league minimum for players on the 40 man roster which is something between $100,000 and $150,000.
  19. Checking splits - Urshela and Arraez make a pretty good platoon.
  20. If we're going to insist that Arraez is in the lineup I'd rather see Arraez play 1B and Sano at DH. Sano is an awful defensive player. They should avoid playing him in the field whenever possible. Arraez should be at least mediocre at first base.
  21. I am going to guess this is also velocity related, just like his declining fastball.
  22. He's definitely an upgrade on Lewis Thorpe. (BTW - When I heard the Twins signed Correa I first thought of Kevin Correia, not Carlos). The prospects will still definitely get a chance to pitch this season but now they'll get a chance to make their first starts in St. Paul and earn their way up instead of getting a scholarship. Jax and Thorpe can both go to St. Paul and learn how to pitch out of the bullpen to see if either can contribute to a big league team in the future.
  23. Urshela, Kepler and Jeffers/Sanchez are all basically 100 OPS+ hitters. Only one of them is fast. The bench players (Cave, Garlick, Rooker, Gordon) are also pretty fast so it makes sense to bat them 9th if they're in the lineup. Buxton / Polanco / Correa are your top 3 Kirilloff / Sano / Arraez are your 4-6 batters.
