  1. Agreed. Besides the Yankees and Dodgers the Red Sox, Cubs, Braves and Phillies should be interested. Too many bidders with deep pockets. The only consolation is there will be multiple SS options for those teams - Dansby Swanson, Trea Turner and Xander Boegaerts along with Correa.
  2. I think Lewis gets a shot at 3B before they decide to move him to the OF. He'd be very good at the hot corner.
  3. I don't think they can promote Simeon Woods-Richardson until he gives up a run. They can't mess with a streak, that's one of the unwritten rules of baseball.
  4. Sano has zero trade value. Over Sano's last 802 plate appearances going back to 2000 he's hitting .209/.297/.445 and has played poor defense at first base. He's also just put up the worst month of his entire career. Nobody wants an expensive DH who can't hit. Good news is Miranda really only needs to hit above .200 to be clearly preferable to Sano.
  5. Bullpen pitchers are easy come, easy go. I never sweat when they lose a relief pitcher on waivers. There's always a different relief pitcher to try. I also don't have a problem developing future relievers in the minor league rotation. They get more innings that way.
  6. 3 catchers is dumb. Either play Gary Sanchez and send down Godoy or put Sanchez on the IL and keep Godoy.
  7. If they can trade a lefty reliever for a starting pitcher and then trade a minor league reliever for a major league reliever they will effectively have traded a minor league reliever for a starting pitcher. That's an impressive trade chain.
  8. I'm thinking the opposite. Trade them for a veteran reliever off a bad team's roster instead. I like Sean Doolittle for the Nationals and Justin Wilson of the Reds. The Twins could use an upgrade at LHRP.
  9. Lefthanded pitching is a weakness of this roster. The Twins only have Couloumbe, Thielbar and Moran for lefthanded pitching. If one of them is pitching poorly they can't rely on the other to pick up all the slack. We may see Devin Smeltzer soon. After Smeltzer there's basically nobody else in the organization for lefthanded pitching.
  10. This season he has a teammate with just as much talent. If they both get going at the same time this team will win a ton of games.
  11. We should expect roughly 1/3 of the starting pitcher prospects to make their impact in the bullpen. I think the organization was probably keeping players in a starting role for too long because they had so few pitching prospects. That's not necessarily a bad thing - pitchers will generally develop faster with more innings in the minors.
  12. An article written at least 8 years too early
  13. Royce Lewis is doing well but so is Jake Cave against the same teams. The 6 and 7 game series against the same AAA teams will require more patience before jumping to conclusions. The Saints have played two teams so far. The only reason to promote anyone in the minors before they've had 150 plate appearances at that level is due to injury.
  14. I wish he played mediocre defense. I'm ready to make Arraez the first baseman.
  15. I've never had a problem with the selection of beverages but the prices are crazy high.
  16. And we know a large percentage of those ticketing fees are going back to the Twins so it's a bait-and-switch on the pricing - just like concert tickets and airline tickets. When the fees are 150% of the ticket price people are going to stop their purchase halfway through. The lack of TV viewing options is also going to kill their ticket sales in the long run. Put out the product on TV and people will want to attend in person. The TV broadcast gives a chance to promote ticket sales at least 50 times a game. I don't have a TV viewing option so this article is the first I've heard of any of these promotions, for example. If people can't watch the games on television they find other ways to fill their time and they won't come in person.
  17. This is going to be a fun quote to dig out 5 years from now for somebody.
  18. Look at the box score. Gary Sanchez had the only hit today. Seems like an odd player to make the scapegoat.
  19. I think this is the case. Nobody is grabbing Rodriguez on waivers so he's a safe add/drop.
  20. What's terrible about that contract for Justin Upton? He was getting paid $28M this season. I'd say that was an awesome contract situation for him. Is he better than adding Kyle Garlick to the roster? Probably not.
  21. Arraez isn't a bad option to play 1B. He's certainly a better defender than Sano. A utility player with a bat like Arraez should be able to find a spot in the lineup nearly every day rotating through 3B, 1B, 2B and DH. The Twins have seen a lot of lefty starters so far.
  22. Relief pitching is more important now but individual relievers are pitching even less. Rogers would throw around 60 innings this season if he stays healthy. He was great in 2019 but so was Pagan
