  1. .966 OPS in his last 28 days. He might be ready for a new challenge after spending every summer since 2019 in Cedar Rapids.
  2. This is a Box Score artifact where if 2 batters strand the same runners they get double counted. If you look deeper into the box score the team stranded 10 runners.
  3. The Angels are in a nosedive and they have some expensive, decent relievers on the roster. Raisel Iglesias has a contract that could turn ugly but Ryan Tepera and Aaron Loup are just modestly overpaid.
  4. He has been a good bench player. He's mediocre at the plate and in the field but a mediocre big leaguer is a pretty useful player. His baserunning is useful late and close as a pinch runner.
  5. I guarantee they will need more than the 5 starters currently in the rotation to finish the season
  6. Nick Saban didn't have any trouble leaving the Dolphins to coach in the NCAA. Same with Bobby Petrino moving from the Falcons to Arkansas. Professional athletes could move between leagues in different countries (ex. Japan) except the leagues themselves have agreements with each other not to sign players under contract in the other league.
  7. He can't leave for another MLB pitching coach position (a promotion is different but requires team approval) but I'm pretty sure he can take a job outside of MLB at any time.
  8. I don't understand how a college baseball team with attendance of 400,000 can pay $750,000 for their pitching coach. FWIW - I don't see a college job as being much less stressful than MLB. Recruiting is essentially year-round including recruiting your own players to stay for the upcoming season. I also don't think this is unprofessional in the slightest. If someone offered me a $300,000 raise to leave for a similar job elsewhere it wouldn't take me long to say yes.
  9. They could really use a catcher by round 5
  10. Except that they directly contradict (some would say invalidate) xFIP.
  11. It's nearly impossible to do everything well, there are tradeoffs. If you want to frame the low strike you will not be as good at blocking or throwing out baserunners.
  12. Ezra Sutton is a legitimate Hall of Fame candidate from that pioneer era. Ezra Sutton – Society for American Baseball Research (sabr.org)
  13. Nick Gordon and to a lesser extent Gio Urshela, with Arraez getting more starts at 3B. Versus lefties you want Miranda and Urshela in the lineup. I don't fault the Twins for hoarding depth considering how many injured players they have had so far.
  14. I think you mean strike one. You can't have catcher's interference unless the batter swings.
  15. Yes. Soto was brought up to sit on the bench. If Kirilloff is promoted he will play every day.
  16. Arraez reminds me more of a different player from the 1980's - Wade Boggs. Boggs was also a high average, low power player without speed.
  17. Can't these articles wait until the offseason? Enjoy watching a first place team. Worry about next season later.
