  1. This is an ultimatum to Rocco Baldelli. Win or you're fired.
  2. Looks like they're counting on Royce Lewis to carry them across the finish line.
  3. Those are the odds for every MLB team, including the Braves. What odds would you give me to bet on the Twins? 200-1? If the Twins just sneak into the playoffs they will not be the favorite but sometimes the underdog wins, especially in baseball. I'm fine with rooting for an underdog this October. Beats the hell out of watching football.
  4. You could say the same about needing a RH batting outfielder which is why it was so weird they signed Gallo.
  5. I think there's a chance Gray accepts the QO. He was talking about retirement but 1 year $20M may be tempting.
  6. That full list includes Severino, Camargo, Chris Williams, Bechtold, Prato, Martin, Laweryson, Funderburk, Kiersey, Salas, Hidalgo and Regi Grace. That's the group they're selling hard.
  7. I like the rentals with big salaries: Canha, Raley, Stratton, Hernandez, Grichuk, Suter, Cron, Hand, Shreve, Fulmer
  8. He will have ups and downs. We're seeing one of the "ups".
  9. They make a lot of movies about the underdog who gives up halfway through the season, don't they?
  10. Probably because many of the veterans (Sonny Gray, Kenta Maeda) are a lot better than the younger players (Varland, Woods-Richardson) who would take their place. I'm fine with clearing out dead wood (Gallo) but that's not "selling".
  11. If there's one thing sports fans really rally around it is a bunch of quitters. That's why Oakland is leading the league in attendance.
  12. Yeah, trying is probably a bad idea. Better to quit when you're ahead. Quitting is best way to build a fanbase.
  13. Renfroe for Gallo plus a prospect would be a coup. Renfroe for Kepler would help both teams.
  14. If the Twins add a RH hitting OF bat he should take playing time away from Kepler anyway. If Wallner fails in a platoon RF role they can try Larnach or Kirilloff or Gordon or more Willi Castro.
  15. There are only 2 seasons between 2021 and now. I don't see where they burned an option in 2021, he has very few games in AAA that season.
  16. This I don't agree with at all. The Twins have a LOT of options to replace Max Kepler. He's hot right now but there's no upside beyond how he has played in July and plenty of downside that he'll revert to his production for the previous 2 years. Move him and put Wallner in RF.
  17. I think they have already started down that path with Woods-Richardson.
  18. But Polanco getting hurt is pretty much a guarantee so Julien was always pretty high on the depth chart. That's one reason they haven't moved him to a position where he won't get removed in the 8th inning for a defensive substitution. They needed him as the #2 second baseman on the depth chart because their #1 is old and fragile.
  19. I know people are skeptical they can move Gallo but is there a better LH outfield bat on the market? All they will want in return is a decent reliever.
  20. That didn't stop them from giving Gallo $11M and a season's worth of playing time.
