  1. I think that's what it is when it comes to Buxton. Sure, they want him to do well bc the team aspect, but you gotta think that a huge part of the people going wild were happy for him and are cheering for him to get the monkey off of his back
  2. No Hopefully his recent upswing doesn't have us signing him to an extension this week
  3. Didn't say he was. However, he is 35 and could quickly become one due to age and regression.
  4. hard to improve a roster overflowing with veteran depth pieces whose worst performers are also making the most money You said it yourself. Why add to it? PG is 35 and slumping, and is in danger of becoming exactly that. His current OPS is 843 and dropping. AK is younger has only 550 at bats at the major league level with 18 HR. That's not poor slugging. Also this yr, finally healthy, in 200 at bats his OPS is 835 and rising. If AK was part of a trade for PG, this trade would go down as one of the worst trades since the Twins traded Garza for delmon young, or Ramos for Matt Capps. Paul G could help the team but AK is a type of player you build around for long term success.
  5. Don't look now, but Pagan and Kepler have both been very good of late. Yes, both players have had good stretches until they implode, particularly Pagan, but it's fair to note enjoy the hot stretches while we can Boy it is sure fun to watch EJ and AK play isn't it?? They give me a reason to watch the games.
  6. Where's Wallner? Ahh what could have been
  7. I wonder if these teams will no hit each other in the same game, since both offenses are so futile.
  8. The wins were hard to come by bc our pitching wasn't as good as it has been. I don't think looking at this weekend and thinking we can't beat Seattle bc we could barely beat Oakland is justified. If the starting pitching is what it has been I think we will be fine in Seattle . With the exception of Buxton, the offense I believe has been more efficient and balanced lately. It's been nice to see the runs come in, in other ways not just the home run way ... Hopefully, the ugly wins give confidence and lead to a prolonged time of the team playing better.
  9. I wonder how much time Brooks Lee has left in AA. I also wonder if the plan is to bring him to AAA this yr, and the bigs next yr to give him a shot at ROY and a draft pick. I know thats putting the cart in front of the horse but I still wonder if the FO has an eye on that scenario
  10. The Twins offense against the A's pitching has me thinking this game only ends if we send out Willie Castro to pitch until it's win lose or draw
  11. Honestly, I don't think that Kepler or Gallo are a big part of the problem. I would love to see what TL and MW could do with extended looks, but MW has 86 strikeouts in only 250 atbats in AAA. I doubt that improves at the big league level. And I am not entirely convinced TL is going to produce more than Kepler when you combine offense and defense but he has certainly earned the right to try at the major league level. This offense doesn't get fixed unless Buxton and Correa start hitting. If they don't hit in the second half, it won't matter who gets traded in and out unless they sell the farm for a marquis player and I don't think they should do that.
  12. I know this is a big ask, but is it possible to get an updated list of what the top consensus 100 players are left on the board before the twins make their first pick today? Or some kind of rolling updated list after the Twins pick in every round? If it's not possible I understand and it's fine, I just think it would be cool to see before the twins pick a list of players that were expected to be off the board already that they might still have a shot at.
  13. Is there somewhere that is updating live after the picks are made? I don't have ESPN
  14. This games looks a whole lot different if Buxton isn't robbed of a 3 run HR again. By Mullins again. This game was won by the O's defense more than the lack of the Twins offense 🤷 Always tomorrow.
  15. I think it's still too early to say one way or the other. Last year was a year Berrios would like to forget, and maybe this year is SWR turn to forget. And while Martin was not good the beginning of the year the last 6 weeks he was better, and then injured. I'm not saying Jordy Blaze is the answer to everything but so far his numbers are much better than last year. One year can make a huge difference.
  16. Jorge Lopez thew only 8 pitches while giving up 2 hits and getting 3 outs? Is that right? Don't see that very often. I feel a little sorry for Buxton. He has been absolutely tattooing the ball and continues to have opposing players make highlight reel plays on him. I like to see the offense score runs, not only via the HR. Lately, it appears that is happening. The more it does, the more I will believe good things are coming.
  17. For sure. If Duran pulls through there is no argument, if he doesn't you have clowns like me second guessing. I was surprised tho when Duran was brought out to face all the lefties for a somewhat uncommon 2 inning save when he had pitched the game b4 even tho it was only 8 pitches
  18. Assuming Crews, Langford and Skenes are not available, I hope they take Teel. This appears to be one of those times when the best available matches to one of the greatest organizational needs. This admittedly coming from someone who only looks at stats and doesn't watch college games.
  19. Twins hit a lot of rockets in the series that didn't land in the grass, especially Buxton. With all the left-handers coming up for the O's in the 8th surprised the Moran didn't get a chance to at least get some outs before Duran was brought in, it stinks because now he isn't available Monday for sure, altho sometimes when you bring the stud of the bullpen in it just doesn't work out. Missing Brock Stewart hurt today.
  20. So glad they won today. Ober was fantastic. Unfortunately, the offense did nothing to convince it turned corner, however, Hays catch if Buxtons drive saved the Os 2 runs at least. Only 8 pitches by Duran and 11 by Jax, so I would think all hands on deck if a sweep becomes possible.
  21. Glad they won, but it's only one win. If there are several more like this, then maybe the offense is fixed. It's funny, early in the year, I always thought this team had the ability to get hot and run off 10-15 wins in a row, but after watching them the last month, I'm not so sure that's the case.
  22. The point I was making is there would be a dropoff from whoever would be the starter in place of Lopez, as well as added stress on the bullpen, unless they found a better workhorse. In addition, this lineup strikes out a tremendous amount and when we do get guys on base, we can't score. Unless someone hits it over the fence. If guys are on base, and Arraez came up then yes, that would be different. But this team is not an on base juggernaut, so if someone is base, it's pry Arraez. Unfortunately this team lacks the ability to manufacture runs and Arraez can't do it by himself. So between the worse pitching and how terrible our offense is at scoring runs, I feel that the benefit of Arraez on offense vs whoever would replace Lopez plus how terrible our offense is, that the over all team benefit or win total wouldn't be much more than it is now Also, the problem is with guys like Kepler, Gallo, Vasquez, Correa and Buxton not producing. Arraez doesn't take atbats from any of those unless it's Gallo. Arraez would take at bats from Castro, Julien, and Kiriloff who I don't think are the problem on offense. If you want to make the argument that if we had Arraez then Buxton would be on the DL and that would make the team better, I wouldn't argue that. Welcome to TD!
  23. That's true. However, with this team, if the bases were loaded, and we had Arraez, he would most likely be one of the guys on base!
  24. Just because they get swept, won't make their season over. Their anemic offense might make their season over. That being said, I really don't anticipate a better showing than what this team showed what they were capable of in ATL, with similar results
