Week in Review: Winning Ugly in Oakland
pierre75275 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The wins were hard to come by bc our pitching wasn't as good as it has been. I don't think looking at this weekend and thinking we can't beat Seattle bc we could barely beat Oakland is justified. If the starting pitching is what it has been I think we will be fine in Seattle . With the exception of Buxton, the offense I believe has been more efficient and balanced lately. It's been nice to see the runs come in, in other ways not just the home run way ... Hopefully, the ugly wins give confidence and lead to a prolonged time of the team playing better.- 37 replies

I wonder how much time Brooks Lee has left in AA. I also wonder if the plan is to bring him to AAA this yr, and the bigs next yr to give him a shot at ROY and a draft pick. I know thats putting the cart in front of the horse but I still wonder if the FO has an eye on that scenario

Which Twins Left-Handed Outfielder Should Go?
pierre75275 replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Honestly, I don't think that Kepler or Gallo are a big part of the problem. I would love to see what TL and MW could do with extended looks, but MW has 86 strikeouts in only 250 atbats in AAA. I doubt that improves at the big league level. And I am not entirely convinced TL is going to produce more than Kepler when you combine offense and defense but he has certainly earned the right to try at the major league level. This offense doesn't get fixed unless Buxton and Correa start hitting. If they don't hit in the second half, it won't matter who gets traded in and out unless they sell the farm for a marquis player and I don't think they should do that. -
I know this is a big ask, but is it possible to get an updated list of what the top consensus 100 players are left on the board before the twins make their first pick today? Or some kind of rolling updated list after the Twins pick in every round? If it's not possible I understand and it's fine, I just think it would be cool to see before the twins pick a list of players that were expected to be off the board already that they might still have a shot at.

This games looks a whole lot different if Buxton isn't robbed of a 3 run HR again. By Mullins again. This game was won by the O's defense more than the lack of the Twins offense 🤷 Always tomorrow.

Did the Twins Lose the Jose Berrios Trade
pierre75275 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I think it's still too early to say one way or the other. Last year was a year Berrios would like to forget, and maybe this year is SWR turn to forget. And while Martin was not good the beginning of the year the last 6 weeks he was better, and then injured. I'm not saying Jordy Blaze is the answer to everything but so far his numbers are much better than last year. One year can make a huge difference.- 62 replies

Jorge Lopez thew only 8 pitches while giving up 2 hits and getting 3 outs? Is that right? Don't see that very often. I feel a little sorry for Buxton. He has been absolutely tattooing the ball and continues to have opposing players make highlight reel plays on him. I like to see the offense score runs, not only via the HR. Lately, it appears that is happening. The more it does, the more I will believe good things are coming.

For sure. If Duran pulls through there is no argument, if he doesn't you have clowns like me second guessing. I was surprised tho when Duran was brought out to face all the lefties for a somewhat uncommon 2 inning save when he had pitched the game b4 even tho it was only 8 pitches

Twins hit a lot of rockets in the series that didn't land in the grass, especially Buxton. With all the left-handers coming up for the O's in the 8th surprised the Moran didn't get a chance to at least get some outs before Duran was brought in, it stinks because now he isn't available Monday for sure, altho sometimes when you bring the stud of the bullpen in it just doesn't work out. Missing Brock Stewart hurt today.

So glad they won today. Ober was fantastic. Unfortunately, the offense did nothing to convince it turned corner, however, Hays catch if Buxtons drive saved the Os 2 runs at least. Only 8 pitches by Duran and 11 by Jax, so I would think all hands on deck if a sweep becomes possible.

Glad they won, but it's only one win. If there are several more like this, then maybe the offense is fixed. It's funny, early in the year, I always thought this team had the ability to get hot and run off 10-15 wins in a row, but after watching them the last month, I'm not so sure that's the case.

The point I was making is there would be a dropoff from whoever would be the starter in place of Lopez, as well as added stress on the bullpen, unless they found a better workhorse. In addition, this lineup strikes out a tremendous amount and when we do get guys on base, we can't score. Unless someone hits it over the fence. If guys are on base, and Arraez came up then yes, that would be different. But this team is not an on base juggernaut, so if someone is base, it's pry Arraez. Unfortunately this team lacks the ability to manufacture runs and Arraez can't do it by himself. So between the worse pitching and how terrible our offense is at scoring runs, I feel that the benefit of Arraez on offense vs whoever would replace Lopez plus how terrible our offense is, that the over all team benefit or win total wouldn't be much more than it is now Also, the problem is with guys like Kepler, Gallo, Vasquez, Correa and Buxton not producing. Arraez doesn't take atbats from any of those unless it's Gallo. Arraez would take at bats from Castro, Julien, and Kiriloff who I don't think are the problem on offense. If you want to make the argument that if we had Arraez then Buxton would be on the DL and that would make the team better, I wouldn't argue that. Welcome to TD!

That's true. However, with this team, if the bases were loaded, and we had Arraez, he would most likely be one of the guys on base!

Just because they get swept, won't make their season over. Their anemic offense might make their season over. That being said, I really don't anticipate a better showing than what this team showed what they were capable of in ATL, with similar results

If the Twins had Arraez instead of Pablo Lopez, who takes the starts that Lopez currently has gotten? Varland? Don't get me wrong, I love the watching him pitch, but he was demoted for a reason. Woods-richerdson? Given his troubles thus far in AAA, pry not. BH? He has been okay, so maybe... I'm not so sure the Twins are better off with Arreaz vs. Lopez. I love watching Arraez play baseball but the Twins offense is so bad at this point they are unwatchable and I am not convinced Arraez hitting two singles a game (as awesome and fun as it is to watch) really moves the needle that much.

Series Preview: Minnesota Twins v. Atlanta Braves
pierre75275 commented on Sherry Cerny's article in Twins
I predict the starting pitching to be excellent, the offense to be non existent and the bullpen to not be good enough to hold the Atlanta offense at bay. I would be surprised if the twins win one game in this series.- 15 comments

What Will The Twins Do in Center Field?
pierre75275 replied to Cody Schoenmann's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Nice, well thought out article. If Buxton is simply not an option, I would love to see Celistino (sp?) step up offensively. He may have another gear there, and is second time seeing AAA pitching he put up some nice numbers, maybe that could happen at the major leagues with a second prolonged look 🤷 -
I like the pitch challenge. I can't imagine how long the games would be if this was implemented in MLB and Angel Hernandez is behind the plate.
