  1. For 2026, clearly I don’t expect the Twins to spend money, I do expect them to cut more payroll. I do not expect a competitive Twins team in 2026. if a team wants to actually compete for a World Series, they have to spend on a roster.
  2. To piggy back on 1 and 4, what do you look for in hiring coaching staffs? especially bench coach? Do you self scout in the process? Do you look to build on your perceived strength? Do you hire complementary skills?
  3. We’re seeing change right before our very eyes! Instead of Falvine, we now have “The Dereks”
  4. I’m ok with Fielders who can’t pitch. I hate watching the looping 50 mph batting practice. while I’m glad the Twins moved on, I think Rocco wanted to run more. Part of this is an FO and organization that doesn’t acquire and develop fundamentally sound baseball players. I don’t see that changing anytime soon.
  5. The roster is currently 90ish mil, 40mil split between 4-5 guys gets you what? 10 mil doesn’t buy diddly squat in the SS and C free agent market. Joey Gallo made 10 mil. Why destroy the team at the trade deadline just to put it right back the way it was?
  6. How far back is relevant to the 2026 Twins? Pablo was a very good pitcher who took a big step forward as a Twin, Ryan was a good but not great prospect who became a stud, the depth on the current team is in starting pitching, with Ober and SWR as solid starters the Twins developed. The team traded away 4 stud relievers at the deadline, all of which took big steps forward as Twins. Meanwhile outside of Buxton pretty much every hitter has consistently regressed to the point where they are DFA fodder, with a pair of LHH prospects on the near horizon but very little ready to supplant 5-6 hitters that are currently DFA fodder. No 1b, no SS, no catcher 2 in a 50/50 tandem, huge question at 3B and 2B, one or both of corner OF needing to be replaced, and St Paul looking devoid of hitting and fielding talent.
  7. Good catching prospects almost ready for the majors cost a fortune. You take that every time. the Twins have shown capability to develop pitchers. Not so much hitters.
  8. No, but the 2023 - 2025 teams were better with him on it than not. Gagne, Zoilo, Cardenas, Smalley then Correa.
  9. Do you expect payroll to increase in 2026? The ‘25 Twins were a 92 loss team, and started the season with a much better team than what they ended with. if payroll stays the same or drops for ‘26, 70 and 92 feels pretty optimistic, unless they turn pitching into hitters, and the young pitchers step-up
  10. I love your optimism that the suck might come on toast. Honestly, I’m optimistic it’ll come on moldy bread, and will likely just suck, no bread with it.
  11. Agreed, with a slight wrinkle. I think the likely return on the offseason trading away of pitching would be prospects to arrive in 2028.
  12. 27? Very generous. welcome to Twins fandom, where the tried but true “cheap Pohlad” jokes not just survive, but thrive. dust off your pocket protector, 70s era graphing calculator with half the labels worn off, and rationing office supplies bit
  13. If he is on this team in the spring, it’s because he wants to. He would be among the easiest to trade players on the team, maybe in baseball. its commitment. He’s had plenty of reasons to bail already, including getting his playing time manipulated for arbitration/free agency purposes. Yet here he is, on what was an owner friendly deal before he broke out in ways only he knew he could do. its awesome, I hope he retires a Twin. i totally understand if he doesn’t, but if he does, it should have the C on his jersey. and yeah, I would, been a fan of the team since the early 80s. Highest highs, lowest lows. Lows deeper than most teams ever go through. Fandom is an odd thing
  14. LNP would be a fantastic manager, only so I can dust off “Get Money! Get Paid!” edit: Ninja’d
  15. I’ll bet he would retire from the Venezuelan league to manage the Twins
  16. He was signed as a street free agent for 2025. The Twins could have Topa, AND Polanco in 2025 and still would have the same outcome. You can have your cake and eat it too
  17. Wow, that was minutiae! Thanks Matt, great job simplifying it for us laypeople. Very good read
  18. I think we need Levi (ticus) to run it by the Numbers but i can’t think of a bad pun for Deuteronomy edit: i was turtled, can’t even call it Ninja’d cuz I was that slow
