  1. It’s more nuanced than cost. Yes, cost is a part of it. the movie industry has been catering to children’s taste and cultivating child cinema fans through adolescence and into adulthood since the early days of “talkies”. Theatres today with all the streaming options and such, still develop their audience and grow their business. Have you been to Knothole Sunday’s where kids run the bases this season? There are more Ronaldo Jerseys on kids backs than there are Twins Jerseys in the whole ballpark.
  2. Agreed Lou. Accessibility is an MLB problem, not just the Twins, but accessibility in general, especially with kids, would benefit the sport and Twins Fandom over the long run. Kids should always be significantly cheaper than adults. A buck or two or 5 type of price for kids under 16. The 6:40 weekday start is very good having some games on free TV would be very good, the streaming option being affordable is a very good step. Baseball for beginners type of broadcast/simulcast There used to be scorecards given away by the ushers back in the day, with the stubby pencil. I taught my now wife to keep score, and that helped her understand the game. unfortunately all this stuff has a cost, that the Pohlads are too short sighted, or too obtuse, to see through. Their investment into the team, into the ballpark, into building a market is how they grew their investment from $44m to $1.7b, and yet they cut in the ways that help them grow their business. this stuff is super obvious, and any business owner worth a darn would already be doing it.
  3. Good question! I can only imagine that it was too late when the FO found out and couldn’t call someone up in time. The bullpen is on fumes and someone is going to get hurt.
  4. It’s growing on me. I’m a Twins fan first and a Brewers fan second, less an MLB fan. I’m a Packers fan, but no longer really an NFL fan. I’ll watch a Bucks or T-Wolves game, but not regularly, I can’t stand NHL… but I’m picking up the random MLS and World Cup games without having a dog in the fight, more and more.
  5. Have you been to a Twins game on a Sunday lately? Half of the fans are kids, 75% of them wearing Ronaldo Jerseys. 2 Sundays ago there were more white Fly Emirates jerseys than Twins jerseys in the stands.
  6. Current Pablo, past Tony O, announcer John Gordon, Manager TK
  7. There’s a 40% chance Pablo plays 11 more years? I’d take the under on that bet
  8. Static off-season is my biggest fear. Gotta buy or sell. I’d rather watch buy, I would begrudgingly accept sell, the most likely is the dithering and we watch this crap another season while getting nothing for the assets they have left who have trade value.
  9. I think that decision is already made, and they ran out of time at the deadline
  10. They already have 62 wins. I don’t think it’s delusional to think they can go 1:19 rest of season. 3:17 is pretty optimistic, but 1:19 seems about right
  11. Along with not being able to pinch hit for Wallner and learning that Wallner can indeed hit lefties better than a mediocre rhh, I hope the Pohlads and Falvey have learned the cost of their indecision. the FO didn’t have to blow it up this year. They could have taken an incremental approach prior to 2024 to build the prospect capital and develop minor leaguers before the team became too stale.
  12. We’ve seen the Pohlads do this before. Everyone with the laugh emoji doesn’t remember the late 90s/early aughts. 25 players at 800,000 plus Buxton at 15m and Correa’s 10m dead money isn’t out of the realm of possibility at $45m. the team John constructed, the one we are currently watching, is going to win at most 72 games this season, and next year is an easy 100 to 110 loss team. That would alienate the fanbase even more than it already is. they aren’t loading up for a post season push heading into a lockout after the fire sale. If you’re alienating the fans already, why wouldn’t the Pohlads just finish the tear down? I hope I’m wrong and the new minority owners change the direction of the team, but I just don’t see it. :(
  13. IKR! 12 years and quite a life choice I made
  14. Oh no, never https://www.fox9.com/sports/twins-fan-allegedly-banned-1-year-from-target-field-defund-pohlads-sign
