  1. Even the worst day at the ballpark is better than my best day at work
  2. Why are the starting pitchers warming up in outfield?
  3. Or potentially hostile takeover (of sorts)? Wait for the Pohlads to dither away more money, get desperate while resting on their laurels and then having to sell the rest of the team below market because they continued leaning into their incompetence?
  4. 100% option 3: Dither this is the most likely scenario, and worst case, as it has been what Falvey and Pohlad have done for years.
  5. Take comfort in the familiar embrace of an ownership group who has open contempt for their customers.
  6. When you sell the LLC, all of the debts go with it. There is absolutely benefit to leveraging a profitable asset to fund a temporarily under-performing one. Especially when you plan on selling the profitable one
  7. I believe that he’s happy. I believe that making him happy is not what’s best for my fandom or what’s best for the Minnesota Twins and am now certain that the fire sale and complete tear down of the roster continues, followed by a decade of pathetic cellar dwelling and continued mismanagement. There will need to be a radical shift in how the team is managed in actual roster transactions very quickly, in order for my season package to be renewed.
  8. Last I checked humans had a longer gestational period than 3 months. More like November day! November day! November Day!
  9. We all care so much, can’t even get his name right… lol
  10. Gasper has 2 games in his major league career at C and since 2018 over ml and minor league has 123 games at C. he’s not a Catcher
  11. I’m not sure I agree, the hitters traded away may not have been the right pieces to the puzzle, but the returns received were not major league players. also I was responding to the poster who said “all they have to do is replace the bullpen”. the way I see it, they need to field a major league roster again. It’s not “just the bullpen” they need to find 3 to 5 very good relievers, a SS, starting pitcher, a left fielder, a 4th outfielder, a second baseman and a first baseman to compete. they do not have all of those pieces internally, they may have a few of them. they will not fill all those gaps this offseason. More likely the tear down continues. Preparing for 2026 is a farce. It seems like a possibility to me that we could watch a Pittsburgh style perpetual rebuild for the next decade. these games since the deadline have absolutely been more enjoyable to watch. Scrappy underdog is far more enjoyable than underachieving veterans. But the shine will fade on the scrappy underdog mentality like it did in the 90s. At least Buxton is better than Coomer. I believe either the potential new owner signed off on all this, or the Pohlads don’t have a buyer and are cleaning off the books for the long haul. Both bode ominous
  12. Yikes! Speedy recovery Vazquez!
  13. Considering the timing, Jax may have already been traded when(if) he asked.
  14. Taking on debt to lump sum pay an escrow account? What’s the point of the escrow in that situation? agreed, if they did escrow his guaranteed contract, some of that would be freed up to pay down debt, but some of that would be owed the Astros in the trade deal. My assumption is since the players get weekly game checks and don’t get paid year round, they would flow the cash off of operating revenue, but with the size of the contract, this makes sense.
  15. When you sell a house, you have pay off the mortgage first before putting the capital gains against another asset. If you bought a snowmobile with a second mortgage against your house, and then sell your house, you have to payoff the house and the snowmobile before buying a new house. What’s confusing me about the debt, is a statement that shedding payroll reduces it in a significant way. Cutting expenses can free up cash to reduce future debt, but debt incurred is debt incurred. It’s like scrapping inventory, you took on debt to buy the inventory, but didn’t sell it. If you scrap the inventory, you still have the debt.
  16. Yup, the return of LHH OF who need a reset is certainly a sign that Wallner is getting traded in the offseason. the fire sale is over, but the gutting has just started.
  17. See that, a couple little brush strokes there… and it’s a happy little GIDP
