  1. Absolutely agreed! On the baseball side of things it could have been Pohlad:”why haven’t you signed anyone?” Falvey:”because you changed direction 2 months too late”
  2. Zoll supposedly led the fire-sale. I’m guessing his idea of leading with courage and yours might be different.
  3. Bingo! From Gleeman via @jharaldson ‘Tom Pohlad says he "will immediately begin a search for a president of business operations who, along with GM Jeremy Zoll, will report to me."‘
  4. We have math problems. If $110m is the current projected payroll breakeven point (other costs relatively fixed) how did they accrue $500m in debt over 5 years with higher revenue and payrolls between $130 and 150m? The would have accrued somewhere in the $150m range in debt (20m in debt per year and 5% numbers being strewn about last article) if they never paid maintenance or principle at all.
  5. So Larnach cumulatively has more OAA in RF than Wallner in a smaller sample size? Granted it was more positive 21 and 22, maybe he’s losing a step The charts above split LF and RF.
  6. Wallner ranks faster in speed and arm strength but in OAA Larnach fares better, especially RF where Larnach is cumulative plus 3 (in one extra season) and Wallner is -8. Larnach Wallner
  7. Where does Wallner’s fielding rank in the corner OF? 9ish I’d venture. Looking at how they brought in Bader last year, OF fielding is prioritized. Wagaman and his 85 wRC+ isn’t going to spend significant time at 1B, Clemens would likely be utility, with some time at 1B. Guessing he’s the new Castro. Looking at how they brought in Ty France last year, 1B fielding is not prioritized. i think Bell is the primary 1B Martin primary LF Larnach primary RF Wallner primary DH Clemens gets rotated through outfield, 2B and 1B almost every day.
  8. When told of the upcoming “biggest loser” competition among the best writers, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic was quoted “ **** that! I’ll report from the couch” and continued eating his Chinese food.
  9. At 70 DH plate appearances there were 78 hitters on the list last year. 110 is below median (Refsnyder)
  10. In 141 career games, 555 plate appearances as a DH he he as a 98 wRC+. He had 80 games as DH last year for 93wRC+. While the splits tool doesn’t allow both as a DH against Righties, the vast majority of those PAs had to be against Righties. Larnach also a -2 OAA. agreed with others I just don’t see it. Wallner on the other hand, only 37 games as DH but 128 wRC+. He struggled badly as DH last year 58 wRC+. That small of a sample could have been against lefties. Further his OAA is -11 Wallner is a better hitter, better hitter as DH and a worse fielder per baseball savant. Looks like their every day DH to me.
  11. https://brewerfanatic.com/news-rumors/milwaukee-brewers/who-is-thad-levine-and-why-is-it-a-big-deal-that-hes-joining-the-brewers-r4075/
  12. Reason number 9,286 why this off-season has been so completely and profoundly frustrating. The Twins HAVE to do something with Ryan by the trade deadline, either extend or trade. They won’t extend and every team in MLB knows it. Waiting loses leverage in trade, because the time and competitors for the trade, as well as loss of QO, reduces the return on trade. how aggravating
  13. You posted what I was thinking faster than I could. It’s reasonable to assume SWR, Ober and Wallner put up 2WAR or higher, but there’s 14 guys on this roster who’ve never exceeded 1 WAR, or like Bell who’s washed and hasn’t put up 1 WAR in a few years and never consistently. When your starting SS put up 0.3 WAR in 139 games last year, things are bleak.
  14. I think he meant Mickey Gasper, who was traded for even though he was DFA fodder, then was DFA’d for Brujan and then Brujan was traded for the DFA posting fee
  15. It’s Twinsfest weekend, pitchers and catchers report in a month. Time’s not out, but it’s too late to swing a radical franchise altering trade because there isn’t time to make additional moves. It’s marginal thinking time, not rebuilding the core time. this very flawed team is likely what we’ll see on opening day.
  16. Filtered to as a reliever before 8/1. the Twins were butchers in the infield last year.
  17. The two months not stocked are what they have now. If this bullpen exceeds expectations it will be the 29th bullpen in the MLB even after Rogers. This team was 23rd in runs scored last year. No Correa, no Bader, and the husk of Josh Bell and his .1 WAR backfills Ty France and his .7 WAR. its absolutely baffling why they didn’t go scorched earth.
  18. To add, Varland has pitched 100 innings as a reliever. It took more than 40 of those innings to become good. A reliever usually doesn’t throw much more than 60 innings in a season. they won’t hit on 4 out of 4 starter conversions, some will fail entirely. 2/3 of the season will be spent blowing leads out of the pen… hardly any of the starter conversions will have any value at all in 2026, it’s all to be traded away in 2027.
