  1. That’s only part of the why. Payroll is 90% of the operating costs. The entire front office costs a relief pitcher. Field operations are probably the largest non-player expense and almost all of the game day staff are volunteers, the big chunk of that is water and electricity. The debt $300m-$500m is 2-3 years of operating costs? How does this team accumulate that much debt in 5 years?
  2. Ty France had to be packaged with Louis Varland to offload 2 months of his $1m contract for Alan Roden who shouldn’t make any 26 man roster and is out of options. That was not a good deal. He over performed and still sucked. Bader had his best season in years. These are absolutely examples of outcomes that could happen. Either end of it. Knowing this team, which is more likely to repeat?
  3. That and they’re a private equity firm who buys distressed assets and finances them with their private capital and sells them for a profit.
  4. Exactly - this team has more deficiencies than a single move can fill.
  5. I think several hitters could have better 2026 than 2025, and the offense still suck badly. This team is very talent deficient at fielding/hitting and bullpen.
  6. While I agree, this is already a bottom 3 team (if not dead last) in baseball. If they aren’t going to spend their way to mediocrity, they’ll never ever get there with this current group. the damage is done. 4 players have more value in trade, than in winning 55 wins or 50.
  7. I agree with Mike that prospects are a gamble, more likely hit on 1 with two than 1 with one. i also think that contention is 2028 or later, so the details matter less. They really need to replace whole roster. Just get value in volume in the high A, double a bracket.
  8. Agreed, I think part of this discussion between Falvey and Buxton was ‘26 budget and contention window. again, nothing really new.
  9. 1) Pear is a shape 2) working on defense and improving are different We’ll never know more about the allegations than what has been published. My personal feeling is I believe the woman, and Sano and the Twins both lost a ton of respect from me over what allegedly happened and how it was handled. 6) Attitude is important, but is not “everything”.
  10. Raya had a 6 era in triple A, Abel, Matthews and Festa have 5 eras, Bradley 4.85 era, Prielipp has pitched a total over 3 professional seasons of 112 innings. Lewis is 26 and has 4 mlb seasons, Wallner is 28 as is Jeffers Rodriguez, Culpepper and Jenkins do not a young team make
  11. The question is, will the needs increase by the end of the winter meetings? Or decrease? my bet is increase
  12. It would take a lot to pry away Rodriguez. The Twins have a lot of pitching, but if they were to trade away Lopez or Ryan, Lodolo might become more appealing. As things sit right now they have a couple Lodolo’s on the roster and really need cheap hitting, so this trade doesn’t make the most sense.
  13. I’m not upset about the young players, I’m upset about the years of dithering, followed by gutting the team and now dithering some more. This all could have been done incrementally… i don’t know yet on what the direction is almost a month into the offseason? I don’t buy it. do the deuce or stand up
  14. Kendrys Morales
  15. Just wait til we’re waffling on whether or not to take the bulging cans.
  16. From a service time perspective, a month (or whatever that threshold is) can be an extra year on the backside. if he really is that guy, and this really is the Pohlad Pocket Protectors… you get that extra year
  17. I’m a henchman for this Doctor Evil. It’s a union gig, good benefits, pension. Sure it requires moral flexibility, but the pay is steady.
  18. Important lesson for all of us.
  19. It has to be approved by the owners still, right? I wonder what pitfalls might still be ahead
