No. I just have a difficult time putting in RPs just like I have difficulty with DH. I do not resent their election, but I would not be promoting them. Of course recent articles on MLB.com and ESPN make me wonder if we know how to value modern pitchers of any kind for HOF inclusion.

What a story to brighten up a gloomy foggy day. Yes - there are many of us who think fanning is only good for cooling off on a hot day and who do not care how fast or how far a ball is hit - I believe a HR is 1 run, no matter the velocity and distance. Give me a Julien and Arraez any day. Let me have a Correa and Lewis who can give us some of both. I have been reading about Eddie Mathews in recent posts on facebook - one of my favorite players. 512 HRs, 271/386/509 career. 14.7% strikeouts. He is a HOF and not many can match that, but those are figures to strive for - not HR or nothing.

Are the Tigers Really Coming?
mikelink45 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I like how they are trying to improve - let's see what Hinch can do. I am also mildly surprised by KC's moves. Those two teams are more interesting right now than Chicago and Cleveland.- 31 replies

So happy for Mauer and the Twins - a great honor that makes me think about all the complaints that Joe managed to ignore in putting together such a great career. Imagine if he had not been hurt! Wow Sano replaces Ohtani! I know that is not the case, but it reads well. Gallo belongs on a last place team. Especially in the other league.

With Joe Mauer now in the HOF – we have the following roster Twins HOFers– CF – Kirby Puckett RF – Tony Oliva 2B – Rod Carew 1B or 3B – Harmon Killebrew C – Joe Mauer Pitcher – Jim Kaat Pitcher – Bert Blyleven Who would be the Twins that are closest to HOF class to fill out the starting lineup and rotation? We need a LF, SS, !B or 3B, a DH, three starting pitchers and a few RP. You could also fill out the lineup with Molitor at DH, Winfield in the OF, Jim Thome at DH, and Morris on the staff- I hesitate because most of the careers put them on other teams, but they would certainly provide a lot of quality. If we include our Senators beginnings, then we have more HOF players for the roster. The Roster adds the true Ace – Walter Johnson, with Kaat and Blyleven and Morris Three OF – Heine Manush, Sam Rice, and Goose Goslin, with Tony Oliva, Dave Winfield, and Kirby Puckett. It is the start of an outstanding team – who do you add and do you care about the Senators?

Twins Top Prospect Battles: Who Has the Best Tools?
mikelink45 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Woods Richardson hitting a wall in AAA reminds me of Balazovic. Do we know enough about him to expect him to rebound better? Right now I do not seem him winning the underrated debate - I have had the opinion that he was overrated.- 18 replies

Four Relievers the Twins Need to Work in 2024
mikelink45 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
At one time I had great expectations for Balozovic. But I have had my expectations shattered by others in the past and right now he has had too many poor outings for me to have any faith in him. I would love to be wrong, but this is all about our expectations in the off season. Of course now. Josh hader and Stephenson are signed from the free agent list. So we will see the twins try to mix and match and hope that it works.- 28 replies

Four Relievers the Twins Need to Work in 2024
mikelink45 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The contract says Alcala, but he has not proven anything. I suspect that the FO wants at least one of their new acquisitions to make it and I am sure we can find another waiver wire hopeful along the way. Building this pen has not had any real strategy that I can see. Thielbar has really come through and his resume is a crazy story. Stewart has 1/2 year and we cannot count on that holding up, but we can hope. Jax had a period last year where I thought he lost it. Still not at the top of my reliability chart. Balazovic, Winder and Sands just have not shown anything yet, but I think the FO shows the most respect and expectations for Sands - not sure why.- 28 replies

We are in an era where we depend on the BP everyday. Let him pitch multiple relief innings and stay with what is working.

I am not sure if I can agree with the conclusions - Take Scott Boras out of the equation and we get earlier signings. He has always played the waiting game. Take the multi-millions and the extended years and things change. It could be that Bally is giving teams a chance to rethink what they are spending and how. Call it the Pujols affect or Hampton if you want to go back in time like the essay. Sports spending is ridiculous and beyond the grasp of simple fans like me. Of course pre-free agency baseball disappeared after the WS and game again in February and in the meantime players like Bob Allison sold cars or pumped gas or did something to bring in dollars in the off season. Since we fill the off season with speculation let me add that Snell is the perfect short start replacement for Sonny Gray. Look for him in a Twins uniform.

Pitch framing is becoming a recurring nightmare amongst many of us old timers. Give me the electronic strike zone and continue to improve the game. In a sport where we obsess over garbage can banging, foreign substances, PEDs, gambling...we continue to try to steal strikes! It makes no sense. Is Jeffers good, He was last year and he was his rookie year. In four years his line is 233/329/424. Two good years, two poor years. Let's see some consistency before we anoint him.

Is Ryan Jeffers Underrated?
mikelink45 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
No he is not underrated. One season with less than 350 ABs does not suddenly propel a catcher to the top list. Let's see what he does in the future. He looked good his rookie year and then went backwards. Right now the important thing is to be rated the number one catcher on the Twins. -
2024 Minnesota Twins Top 15 Prospects

Twins Sitting Pretty in Early 2024 Betting Lines
mikelink45 replied to Nash Walker's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Sports books are meant to get you to bet - they are not good predictors. The Twins will win their division - so they are fourth, meaning a non-division leader will rank ahead of them. -
He will make the Twins HOF. But he is not the generational SS talent that is there or even close at this point. Right now Lewis has a HOF start - not a track to HOF, but a showy beginning with great stories and stories do help. After all isn't MVP really a story season? Or ROY? I would love to see another HOF career in MN. But the team HOF is still a great accomplishment and if we do not trade him and he plays another 3 - 5 years Polanco will be honored too.
-
Maybe we can bring back Johann Santana too. No we will not pay the price. As much as I would love to have him come back - imagine - batting average champ AL - NL - AL! Let's hope there is some real Twins news soon.

I like to have Julien, Lewis and Correa in the top three spots, no matter what moves are made. Kiriloff, Buxton, Polanco, Kepler, Jeffers, Wallner are all fine for 4 - 8 depending on who is left. Miranda show fit in there, but will he be on the team? Castro is 9 if he is starting, the second leadoff position. It does not matter a lot, but I like speed in the top positions.

I expect this to change before the season. It is too early to say that Stewart will repeat his success or that Griffin has rediscovered his role. BPs are so erratic I cannot project success or failure, but I am not inspired by the final lists in this essay.

When We Could See Top Twins Prospects Debut in 2024
mikelink45 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Martin, Canterino and one of the pitchers is all I see for this year. Lee needs an injury opening, Severino is dependent on Kiriloff's health. This is a really interesting list, but if all of them make we will have had a bad year with injuries. It also depends on trades so it is fun, but unwise to think any of them are a lock.- 118 replies

This essay really captures the excitement in Twins land with a real FA signing. Soon we will be praising the FO for patience and the fact that they were the only ones to see this future Joe Nathan. Genius is hard for us commoners to appreciate. Now we know the one big thing that will fix the Twins - A TD essay that anticipated this move. Where do I get the jersey?
-
I think he has already expressed his thoughts and this seems like an essay written because we have nothing else to talk about.
