No game today and Iowa lost so I am back in the box scores to see ex-Twins. And starting with the Angels Miguel Sano 1 - 3 with 2 Ks. Cano lost the game for the Orioles with 1 run in 2/3 inning but his era is 1.80 Gallo 0 for 3 with a strikeout Kiner-Falefa 1 - 4 with 3 Ks - was he actually ever a Twin? And who started for the Yankees - Gil 4.1 innings, 2 runs We traded him for Jake Cave Steer 0 - 4 and Encarnacion-Strand 1 - 4 2Ks Lopez pitches 1 inning and 0 runs Rooker 0 - 2 with 2 Ks Urshela 1 - 4 1 K Randy Grossman 0 - 5 1K Polanco 1 - 4 1 K Luke Raley 0 - 4 1K Arraez 4 - 5 0 Ks - he is spoiling my narrative. One triple Gordon 2 - 5 his second HR. - Our current leader is Royce Lewis with one on the IL Rortvedt 1 - 3 LaMonte Wade 1 - 3 1 K Who is doing better the players on the Twins or the players we no longer have?

Like the FlyingFinn I find Wichita my favorite team. What a lineup! Looking at the prospects list it is so sad to see the two pitchers both seriously injured and Walker's injury scares me. If it is hamstring related it really worries me.

Your 2024 Minnesota Twins' Option List
mikelink45 replied to Greggory Masterson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Lots of good information here. Thinking of options and player movement I enjoyed going through the MLB games yesterday and seeing Polanco get a big HR Seattle so I checked out the former Twins and what they did today. Steer getting a HR for the Reds with Pagan getting the win. I am still glad to rid of Pagan! Encarnacion-Strand did not get a hit but he is the cleanup hitter in Cincinnati. Rooker getting a HR for the A's, Maeda having his second stinking start for Detroit, Arraez got a hit, but it hitting only 194 so far. Wells having a poor state for the Orioles while Coulombe continues to have a 0 ERA. Joey Gallo (so glad he is gone) hit a HR for Washington. Ben Rortvedt was 1 - 3 for Tampa, a double and 2 rbi's! LaMonte Wade was 1 - 3 for SF Pressly had a bad outing for Houston. So the ex-Twins SP pitchers did not have a good day overall, but RP were 2 - 3 good with the best of them having the bad outing. The hitters went wild. So glad to see Rortvedt getting a chance. Three HRs from former Twins today. I enjoyed going through the box scores. As a kid I loved doing this, of course we did not have 30 teams back then.- 9 replies

All spring I wondered why our regulars were pulled after two ABs for scrubs. Maybe they could have had a few more meaningful ABs to get their timing before the regular season.

I wanted Keirsey and prefer him over Margot. I hope Margot proves me wrong, but I also hope Keirsey continues to prove his value.

No, it is not sustainable. We need the returnees. Even with all the arms we have the usage is too high. The SP need to do what we had last year and go deeper. We cannot keep using them at this rate - it is surprising but when I look at the usage chart after the Guardian game Funderburk leads all the RP by a large margin followed by Duarte and Sands. At least that saves the high quality arms, but those three are not the ones we can lean on continually.

Really enjoyable look at the two prospects. Next tell us about the other two pitchers you mentioned that will be in the rotation with him.

Twins Minor League Report (4/3): Keirsey Crushes
mikelink45 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Miranda playing 3B is just part of the Twins strategy to create versatile players in my view. Farmer and Castro have too few ABs to think they are going to have an off season. I did like seeing Keirsey do well. As I pointed out in another post if we need OF replacements I prefer players who have a minor league career in the OF to a player like Martin who can fill in there but has no real experience. And that brings up another question. Martin has 3 ABs. Will we damage him by letting him sit?- 9 replies

I feel like Larnach needs a Rooker opportunity. A team like the A's or Nationals can give him the playing time he needs to prove himself. Neither of these players look like prominent role players with Lee and Martin both well ahead of them. The one hesitation I have here is the OF - without Kepler who is out there? I do like Kiriloff and Wallner flanking Buxton with Castro behind them - sorry Margot I have not seen enough of you to become a fan yet. Otherwise I do not know who in the minors will be pushing for an OF spot unless Jenkins comes up as quick as Wyatt Langford did or Rodriguez are ready. If they are there is no place to put Larnach.

Brewers 3, Twins 2: Rally Runs Short for Minnesota

Could Varland have gone further? I don't know - just asking. Do we have to have Lewis to get this lineup going? If so we are in bad shape.- 95 replies

To add to the ages in the previous post - Varland is 26. I am hoping we can get Festa - 24 into the rotation this year too. I know that Soto - 18 and Raya 21 won't be up this year, but I hope they develop quickly. Prielipp is already 23 and we have read about him a lot, but his health is a concern and so is Canterino - I will be surprised to see either have a good MLB career. And Zebby Mathews seems to have good success, but I seldom see him in the SP projections. Posts are correct, we do not have a young rotation, we have a rotation of limited experience.

Twins Minor League Week in Review and Roster Rundown
mikelink45 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
I love this type of review because I cannot keep track of all the prospects and you help me know where to focus. Many new arms are unknown for me. But somehow the bats we drafted (including Walker) in that last selection process really stand out - Winokur and Keaschall seem really good. But how did Keaschall get put in a higher level than both Walker and Winokur? With Texas playing their number one pick from last year I wonder how the Twins think of Walker and how fast he will rise.- 16 replies

Let's use the IL and get a real outfielder on the roster -
Time to reprint the last three essays on TD about Ober. Games like this will happen but the third game of the season against KC and it still feels bad.

I know this is off the wall and not part of the main discussions, but I always look at the BP use chart and it made me wonder a couple things about Sands. Number one, what game will he be called on this season and how many days of major league service does he have versus number of games pitched? He has two years and -0.2 WAR, And BR says he has 26 games - I don't remember that many.
