  1. From that list of options at the end of the essay Canterino it's the only acceptable one for me and I think he can go both ways short and long.
  2. Fun speculation on Superbowl Monday, but I do not see this new rule influencing the team.
  3. It was a good move because Nick no longer had a place on the roster. I am wait and see on all the accumulated arms (although they are being dfa'd as fast as they are being added). The BP has potential, but let's get into the season before we celebrate. Meanwhile Nick might just bust out with a chance to play.
  4. Your final comment agrees with what I wanted to say. I don't want to be rated, I just don't think we immediately put him in the top five
  5. I really can't think about Buxton and the Hall of Fame. I just want to think about Buxton putting in a few good years in the twins. Outfield. If he does that I'll be happy.
  6. Fine with everybody's evaluation of him. I just would have him down the list to begin the season. Top 10 is fine. Even five or six of what the shiny new toy is always of higher value at the beginning
  7. He's a little slow, he swings at too many pitches, and he's poor defensively and yet we jump him to 3.5 before we even watch him play in our system. Wishful thinking.
  8. It reminds me of Gonsalves a few years ago - I had high hopes for both. But of course there are usually more reasons than what seems obvious. I hope he gets it together.
  9. Larnach and Gordon have the most to lose. I do not see them with a long term role on the team. Miranda also drops in expectations. Not sure his performance warrants more than this, but I hope he blazes away in the minors and rises again.
  10. Fascinating - so hard to read the FO thinking and planning. They certainly have a full BP now and we hope that Stoumont and Jackson live up to our expectations. It seems like we often value quantity over quality. But I am ready to see what this combination does. I know the DFA speculation. How far are Sands, Winder, Balazovic from DFA status?
  11. I see a real pattern in Falvey and Lavine - to hold the budget down we specialize in finding players with injuries, who have had a down year, are cut by other clubs and expect that we can fix what ails them. We have seen some spectacular failures in the pitchers we have gathered. I hope this batch has some who rise up with the addition of Twins magic.
  12. I keep thinking of the Twins SP selections in the Falvey years and yes - DeSclafini is the Ace if we just at Bundy, Price, Shoemaker and Happ to the rotation.
  13. I do not question their work and their opinions - I simply have a personal bias against putting people in the ratings until they show something in professional competition. It will not change the rankings and it does not demean the writer - I just like to share my thought and see if anyone else feels that way.
  14. So far I am unimpressed with the three in the top ten. I would hope they would merit their ranks, but they are just speculation so far. I will hope the next players are more proven and closer to being a viable help to the Twins in the next two seasons.
  15. Despite the Polanco trade, this has been a very dismal and uninspired off season. Who else can we claim and DFA?
  16. I am a radio guy. The pace of BB fits so well in that medium. I can cut wood, work in the garden, bike, hike and enjoy life while having the wonderful background sound of BB and if it gets exciting I can always pause and listen to two or three rehashes.
  17. This was an excellent list. Thanks for doing this work. Nice to see Jenkins and Lee on both lists.
  18. It appears that Severino is what they were hoping Sabato would be. But too many times I read about bat and then a comment that defense is not would it should be. I really like the combination - defense is what has held back Sheffield from the HOF so far. I would like to see a comparative list of best bats and best defense - who would be on both lists?
  19. I am actually disappointed in SWR and not ready to put him on the top list. I agree with Seth. He needs to be consistent for a full season before I get excited about him again.
  20. Too many things I do not know so I cannot judge if he is a one season wonder of building a strong BP resume. Let's hope it is the latter. The BP is still a mystery so I am anxious to get the preseason started.
  21. This is hard to judge - Hicks could have been an inexpensive CF back up or starter if needed, I expected a little more from a Polanco trade - a number 5 starter is not a great return. ; Regardless of the prospect status, this team needs to be going for the WS now and that should be priority.
  22. Not an exciting group. I agree with Cory Englelhardt on Canterino and Staumont. Balazovic and Winder were so high in my expectations two years ago, but they along with Sands have become mediocre fillers at this point. I don't see a hitter getting in, and that includes Gordon who seems to have really dropped from the year before - was that his career year? His problem is that we have Farmer and Castro and if Buxton does play like he says this year he is not needed.
  23. Thank you. Some new names and some that I am surprised didn't make the top 20.
  24. Please - Bubba is not the answer - with his name he needs to be on a southern team. I do not think Gordon is the answer either and I liked him, but Castro has taken the spot and it is time to see if Martin really has anything to offer.
  25. I think I have seen this prediction before - it is wait and see time.
