  1. RP throw one inning. Based on tonight and a few other games - that first inning does not look good.
  2. The Twins continue to inspire! It will take a few drinks to overcome my excitement, but then they have fixed so many of their pickups!
  3. Based on Twins history, what else can they write about? Uninspiring, but something.
  4. I will be surprised. We seem to hesitate at each opportunity and hesitation means others make moves while we stagnate. Let's hope they surprise me.
  5. I see a lot of Sabato love lately, but is it truly justified? He is closing in on 27 and this is the first year he has approached the stats a number one choice should have. His stats are not much different that McCusker who is 1/2 year older. Why do we expect more from Sabato? In fact, Gasper had better stats and Bride is closing in on him. I am okay with promoting from the minors but only if we commit to a steady diet of starts for at least two weeks. Otherwise I think the best thing is for Keaschall to come back and either Wallner or Larnach to move to 1B and DH with Gonzales or Rodriguez moving into the OF.
  6. We wait and see if it is sold, we wait and see who buys and if they have connections to MN, we wait to see who they will hire and we wait and hope - that is all fans can do.
  7. As someone who really does not like the baseball All-star game I am curious - do you care? I find it boring. Most All-star pitchers find an excuse not to be there which leads to the Misiorowski controversy. We choose all-stars and many times they play less than the extra picks. By the time we eliminate all the players who opt out we still have 34 players on each roster. This includes 20 position players and 12 pitchers, plus any "legends" selections. 68 players! The site Heavy reported - "Wheeler isn’t alone. He joins a growing list of stars opting out of the All-Star Game this year: Julio Rodríguez, José Ramírez, Alex Bregman, Jeremy Peña, and even Jacob deGrom are among those sitting out." Even the replacement for the opt outs is opting out - MLB.Com - "Paredes, who made the All-Star team last year with the Rays shortly before being traded to the Cubs, was added to the American League All-Star team Wednesday as a replacement for Guardians third baseman José Ramírez, who was voted as the AL starter at third and chose to instead focus on recovery and the second half of the season." It is no longer Ted Williams winning the game with a HR - he would be out by that time. "The American League All-Stars were trailing the National League, 5-4, with two outs and two men on base in the bottom of the ninth inning when Red Sox star Ted Williams stepped to the plate in the ninth Midsummer Classic." "Williams finished the game 2-for-4 with a home run, double, walk and four RBI." Sorry but I have tuned out since the days of two all-star games in a year. There has to be something better. Agree or disagree?
  8. Like all baseball drafts I have no idea so I will wait for Seth to sort things out through the minor league reports.
  9. Typical of the year pitch good hit bad, or hit Good and hit bad. It's the reason we're struggling to be 500. But then there's Colorado if we don't make it to 500 then I'm not sure we can at any other point.
  10. Great game - besides Buxton really showing off his all-star status, Castro had another excellent game and I really do not want to lose him. And Anthony Misiewicz pitched like the DFA pickups usually do.
  11. You have some good points but remember the starts that some of our minor league prospects made in the majors. It's not unusual to take one or two call-ups before prospering. I wait to see what Petty does
  12. This looks like another DFA to me. That ERA for an AAA reliever is not promising.
  13. Thanks - if I were drafting I would take a chance with both Winkel and Cossetti. I would grab Ohl too.
  14. I would love to see the ranking of these rule V players. That is a really interesting consideration. That is 15 players at risk. Which are likely to be taken? Rule V drafts don't see a lot of players move, but there are some interesting ones here -like Klein who has been having a good year. I imagine Ohl has to be protected and there are others that are really intriguing. Thanks for listing them here. Looks like a good TD article.
  15. At any time how many top 20/30 prospects on any teams list make it to the majors? It is a difficult route through the minors, but that does not mean Eeles should not be recognized for what he is doing and the fact that he has value. These are trade chips if not players who can fill emergency needs.
  16. So much discussion about HR power, but this team needs men on base, they need hits and HR is not the only way to score. I like him and would see him as Castro's replacement if we lose Castro. And I really do not want to lose Castro.
  17. I usually don't go on the speculation posts, but I saw this post and thought it was one of the humorous posts because it is too far from any of my realities. Let's find a way to remove Vasquez and his zero bat and see if we can actually find the next catcher in the minors (no - not Gaspar). So far Cartaya and Camargo have not lived up to any promise and potential. So next up. Keep trying until we have some real quality, but don't get us in catcher purgatory.
  18. I would really like to see him succeed. Homegrown stars aren't that frequent. But I have been frustrated by slumps Like this. It makes me concerned about his future. I would not consider him One of the best hitters in the league, but on this team we really need him to be one of our best hitters.
  19. Fun to see the writer take a chance and call out Jax - so far no one has taken on the challenge.
  20. Love this report - Home State Pride! Now if only Wallner could join the group. I had to check on Roger Maris - he had 4 2HR games in his 61 season, but no 3 HRs. Winfield, Hrbek, Maris and Molitor have the most HRs total for Minnesotans according to BR. Did Hrbek ever have a 3 HR game? I don't remember. In fact that raises another question that would be a good follow up - have any Twins had 3 HR games? Harmon Killebrew - 1963, Tony Oliva - 1973 and Nelson Cruz in 2019 are the only ones I could find. And traded trivia - David Ortiz never had a 3 HR game but Aaron Hicks did!
  21. With the stifling offense of the Twins we can hope for an upgrade from prospects and trades that send Wallner, Larnach out for more prospects. Keirsey and Martin are not answers. I would keep Bader, but his pricetag is going up and I don't see the Twins signing him. Walker is an expected addition, I am less impressed with Em than most writers and readers so it would be good to see another OF step up.
  22. I really enjoyed this format. Great to see such succinct looks at the individual players through their game statistics. Thanks.
  23. Bader is really a great pick up and probably doing so well the Twins won't want to offer him his next contract! I would imagine there will be a lot of interest from other teams and the price will rise.
