How Should the Twins Arrange the Top of the Order?
mikelink45 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I love the speculation - but I do not think Arraez will be the DH - I think Sano and Sanchez and maybe Miranda are in that slot. I just do not see Rocco going to the lighter bat even though I too like him. Stolen Bases will never be overrated for me. I love them and the energy they give, but that is not the real issue here. I do agree with those of you who do not want Arraez in front of Buxton. And I do not see Arraez as a number 4 or 5 hitter.- 51 replies

How Should the Twins Arrange the Top of the Order?
mikelink45 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I think you have nailed it, but in the past Rocco was reluctant to put Buxton first and then we saw way too much of Kepler. Let's hope those days are over. You have Kiriloff slotted fourth (you did not say it, but implied it) so then I tried to think of what follows. I hope we do not have Sanchez and Sano back to back like they did in ST. Ouch. Without Garver how do you split them up? Would Urshela go fifth or are we committed to Sano there? Urshela between Sano and Sanchez? Kepler and Jeffers at 8 and 9?- 51 replies

Twins 2022 Position Analysis: Shortstop
mikelink45 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Let's hope Correa will want two years of our paychecks - the SS cupboard looks really bare. None of us know what is going to happen with Lewis and the Yankees were so desperate for a SS when they had Urshela that they accepted Donaldson's entire contract to get Kiner-Falefa. Let's nope next year we aren't looking back at that trade with any regret. Give Correa a lot of Minnesota nice, but more importantly have a winning club - he is not used to being on a losing team.- 10 replies

Observation from MLB Pipeline's Top 30 Twins Prospects
mikelink45 replied to Matthew Lenz's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Just not sure how to react to this. What does it mean to be 20th, 29th, 30th? Just a nice ranking or someone who will make it? Prospect rankings are getting more common, but their interpretation is getting more difficult.- 14 replies

Just How Good Is Carlos Correa?
mikelink45 replied to Nash Walker's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I love having great players in the field and lineup - we have enjoyed some great ones and Correa should give us a great year of good memories, but the caution is - Mike Trout - the player who is touted as the greatest player in the game today. How many playoffs has his team gotten to in his career? Unlike basketball one great player does not mean a team is going to win. If he were a pitcher that made more difference, but then there is the Carlton year where he won 27 on a team that won a total of 62 games. We win this year if Josh Winder is rookie of the year and Correa makes him and the other pitchers better because he gives them security on ground balls. -

Josh Winder Shouldn't Make the Opening Day Rotation
mikelink45 replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I disagree - give Winder a chance. Yes prospects fail, they also exceed expectations. I would love to see them use him if he is doing well in ST.- 48 replies

Martin, Lewis Among Players Sent to Minor-League Camp
mikelink45 replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Going to the Minnesota Twins transactions - Some things are taking shape. The Saints now have a potential rotation of Strotman, Sands, Henriquez, Balazovic - looks really good. Witchita will have Vallimont and Enlow. Can you provide me with your thoughts about these rotations and who else will be in the mix at each location? I was surprised by the release of Ralph Garza, JR. He was quickly snatched by the Red Sox. How is the RP looking? With such a short ST it is really hard to see who is catching fire. I look forward to your roster projections.- 28 replies

I am on a wait and see evaluation mode - remember that Dobnak started well and so did Smeltzer. I want Ober to succeed and think he can, but until we see him make another 10 starts in the majors it is all conjecture - the same is true of Ryan. The Sophomore jinx did not just get made up, it is hard to gain consistent success as the other teams scout and evaluate. I like Ober's intelligence and Ryan's attitude so my hopes are still high that both continue their rise.

Roster Repercussions from Randy Dobnak’s Injury

Go young or trade for young and established. Something has to change and I would like Balazovic, Winder and Duran all with the major league team this year.- 23 replies

Twins 2022 Position Analysis: Third Base
mikelink45 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I see the mid-season trade potential, but there are teams that are really weak at 3B so we could flip him like we did Kiner-Falefa. I would sure like to see what Miranda can do, but he is a prospect and not a guarantee. It is another conundrum for the FO.- 13 replies

Still tough to keep up. But I know it will sort out soon. It is one of the issues of the short ST. Not enough time to get to see players before they are cut.- 5 replies

Jeffers might be the biggest concern. If Sanchez is behind the plate this article has to be rewritten.

Falvey Shows Flexibility in Twins Decisions
mikelink45 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Because I am concerned about more than 2022 and not sure that we can deliver the results that we want with Correa in the lineup. It depends on pitching, but with the opt out, 2023 could start us with another SS quest. I hope not, but yes I want more than one year of Correa.- 33 replies

Ranking the Twins Top-5 Fastball Prospects
mikelink45 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
I am curious how Ryan can be rated number one in fastball. Yes he has a deceptive delivery and succeeds with it, but his Fastball does not have the velocity of others on the list.- 10 replies

Falvey Shows Flexibility in Twins Decisions
mikelink45 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Correa and Gray leave 2023 - let's hope Lewis and all our minor league arms are ready to carry the team. It is an interesting win now strategy and a hell of a deal for Correa - the highest salary and the ability to just walk away when he wants. Glad to have him, but the reality is that he and Boras did great.- 33 replies

Twins 2022 Position Analysis: First Base
mikelink45 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Who is number 3 - if Sano tanks again, if Kiriloff is injured again Whos on First? I know it is somewhat a plug and play position, but it's nice to have someone who really knows the position. -

Offseason Status Update: Here Comes Correa
mikelink45 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The trade market depends on too many things for me to predict it. We have been in on Montas for a long time - Trade Rumors March 14 reported our interest. But in a bidding war it is hard to project. I also see listed in comments the idea of trading Martin and Lewis for Montas. With Correa for one year (probably) we cannot trade Lewis. At least I do not think we can or should. Looking ahead if Correa does as expected we still need Lewis for the position. I was interested in Story signing for six years for $35 more than Correa for three years (and everyone assumes he is only here one). I am trying to figure out who really came out better.- 35 replies

REPORT: Twins Sign Veteran RP Joe Smith
mikelink45 replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I appreciate the article, but have no opinion. Last year his overall performance was 4 - 4 with a 4.99 era and a whip of 1.38. His pre covid track record looks good, but that was 2019 and he is now 37. It will be interesting.
