Breaking Down the Twins Signing Carlos Correa
mikelink45 replied to Jamie Cameron's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I love it - and it is not just fans - Gleeman and the Geek have made the Twins are not going to sign Correa statement weekly like the rest of us. It is shocking, but it is also possibly just one year with the opt outs so we have to win this year to maximize the return. Does this mean we could include Royce Lewis in a trade? Something else has to happen - at least one really good pitcher has to come here and I have no idea what the A's will require. At least now the interest is high again and anticipation will be higher! -
I am in shock - a really good shock. This is amazing. What a move. Can he pitch too?

Ranking the Twins Top-5 Speed Tool Prospects
mikelink45 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Where do they rank with Byron Buxton? I love speed and SB, as well as Hit and Run. Baseball has diminished as they have been reduced. I think a speed team puts a lot of pressure on the opponent both on base and in the field. I hope some of these make it through the minors and let us see speed in MN.- 16 replies

Twins 2022 Position Analysis: Catcher
mikelink45 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
That video clip was shocking - even when you know how bad Sanchez was regarded by his pitchers. Errors on just plain catching the ball - pitches, popups, throws in and then there is his arm. Thank you for not sugar coating this outrageous issue. Let's hope you can have a redo at the end of ST with some better news.- 34 replies

I will light my cigar this afternoon. The Twins have become so confusing - the Vikings are signing players and dumping players, but when they dump one, the sign one to fill the gap. The Wild had issues so they traded to get the season back on track. The Wolves, smartly did not trade, and they were right. But the Twins have instead decided that an infield of 2B - Arraez, Polanco, Miranda, Gordon will be acceptable if we don't have a SS or starting pitching. We gave up extra players to dump salary and let the Yankees dump players that would not have made their roster this year because we gave that player a contract that we all celebrated and he performed as well as ever and then he was the albatross that needed to be gone. Please continue to help us - we all need counseling.

What to Expect From New Twins Catcher José Godoy
mikelink45 replied to Matt Braun's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
After Garver was traded he was our second catcher, not third and most of us do not want Sanchez catching. On the NY station I listened to last night they were laughing that the Yankees reduced their K rate by getting rid of Sanchez and then they laughed and said K rate on both offense and defense. -
Gary Sanchez is Not a Miguel Sano Clone
mikelink45 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
As much as I like TD it is getting harder and harder to read these stories that are trying to put the best spin on everything. So I have become a curmudgeon this spring and will look for something that really excites me. I do wish Donaldson good luck and a productive year, same with Berrios and the Blue Jays who I hope win it all, and Garver in Texas with all the new FAs. -
What to Expect From New Twins Catcher José Godoy
mikelink45 replied to Matt Braun's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Thanks to the FO we are debating waiver wire pickups that have already been dropped by two teams and ST just started. Plus we debate Urshela at SS/3B and the Yankees are laughing. There were more RP signed today so now we can go back to talking about Thorpe because what else can we do? The Red Sox are now interested in Story, but the important things is that we called him. Every team needs catchers in the minors - so we trade two and pick up a filler. I need some real news. I listened to a NY radio talk show this evening and they are gloating about getting rid of Sanchez even though they cannot pronounce Rortvedt and weren't that excited about getting him. Sorry for the rambling. -
One Last Shot for Lewis Thorpe
mikelink45 replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Are they hoping for another Liam Hendriks? Maybe Aussies develop late and bloom into great RP. Since we have not exactly filled the pen with new and exciting arms it is worth a try. But I prefer using Duran there for this year. -
Can Change-of-Scenery Help Sanchez?
mikelink45 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
" "That's 24-year-old catcher Ben Rortvedt. He was rated the best defensive catcher in the Twins' system last season, he's an exceptional framer and some scouts believe he may eventually have 20-HR power. And yes, as you could probably see from outer space, he is exceedingly yoked." His powerful, lefty swing could fit in perfectly at Yankee Stadium as he develops, or, like his first MLB homer, he can always crank one 417 feet the other way." mlb.com- 52 replies

2022 PECOTA Standings: The 2022 Twins can be Great
mikelink45 replied to Jamie Cameron's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Kris Bryant is gone, Greinke is a Royal again and we have Sanchez and Urshela. Why the optimism? Is it because we haven't played anyone. Quit the dreaming. Lets play some games and see what we have. I am so confused by the Twins this spring that I do not want to see any projections - what day did they make them? Did we have Donaldson, Kiner Falefa, Gray? We don't even know who is on the team. We don't know who pitches, catches, bats, plays 3B, SS, LF, DH, 1B. It is all conjecture. I am going crazy.- 37 replies

Trevor Story’s Splits Shouldn’t Scare You

I am a Story Skeptic, but what else do we have? He is still better than Urshela. But in answer to the article - yes we should be concerned about his splits. -
Can Change-of-Scenery Help Sanchez?
mikelink45 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
If Sanchez hits and plays defense like he has the past few years I would definitely take Rortvedt. Rortvedt was supposed to be our back up, not starter, but that is valuable. Sanchez should not get closer to the catcher position than in the batters box. At the end of the season when the playoffs were possible the Yankees shifter to Higasioka - he was the choice of Gerrit Cole.- 52 replies

4 Things to Keep an Eye on at Twins Spring Training
mikelink45 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The Yankees also listed SS as a position of need so the fact that Urshela was the last man standing in 2021 does not indicate that they wanted to have him there this year - hence the trade.- 18 replies

I hope so. I want him to succeed and he is far better than Bundy, but I feel like everyone we get is automatically moved up a tier in our minds. Let's wait for the season.

Can Change-of-Scenery Help Sanchez?
mikelink45 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
While we debate this less that star quality player Toronto trades for Chapman from A's and Atlanta signs Olson from the A's and Schwarber signs with Phillies. And cubs sign Suzuki. Why does the moves other teams make seem more exciting than the ones we do?- 52 replies

Can Change-of-Scenery Help Sanchez?
mikelink45 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The Yankees just signed Rizzo - the penalty does not matter to their bottom line. They have always been willing to pay. Donaldson is not done, with Rizzo, Kiner, Torres, and Donaldson they have an excellent IF. I know everyone wanted to get rid of Donaldson and his contract, but it was not his contract that held us back, it is the Twins budget. Donaldson still performed well and did what was expected. They saw what they wanted with Rortvedt, and he pairs with Higashioki which means NY values quality behind the plate. Stanton, LeMahieu, Hicks, Judge and Gallo round out the lineups. We do not match them.- 52 replies
