  1. Eeles path to the majors has several roadblocks to overcome with the Twins. I like the kid and I hope he gets a chance with his new team. Whether this is a good swap won't be known for awhile, but I think it's not a high risk deal. Who knows, it could be a great move.
  2. Falvey better hang on to that bag of pennies 'cause the US government mint just stopped making pennies yesterday. You never know, there might be some valuable wheat pennies or even an Indian head penny in there, especially considering who had the bag in the first place! There could be at least two relief pitchers in the bag.
  3. When are new minority owners going to be revealed to the public? If I'm not mistaken, it is soon. I don't know if there is much significance to it, but their identities may give us small glimpse into the Twins future investments in talent. If they aren't baseball people then I'm afraid their investment is only to gain collateral in an appreciating asset. Baseball people, on the other hand, might want to see better baseball. I might have missed it, but there must be rumors floating around...
  4. I just hope that whoever they hire, puts his foot down and says, "in order for me to take the job, I'm doing things my way without interference from the front office or ownership. Otherwise, find a yes man from within." I fear the last part.
  5. Obviously, there's always some luck involved. It's darned unlucky to break a forearm bone when getting hit by a pitch. We just need a dose of good luck to come the Twins way!
  6. Unless I'm mistaken, the nationwide interest in major league baseball is dropping like a rock, compared to football and basketball. The possibility of a work stoppage could very easily be the death of our sport. I would hope both sides see the danger posed by not reaching a new deal sooner rather than later.
  7. I don't know who the new limited partners are, but if they are baseball people and are given some control of running the show, it may not be a complete bust. I can't imagine any investor putting in a wad of cash, then just let the Pohlads keep doing what they're doing.
  8. I am sure that every single one of these guys that take the field for the Twins has the desire to play at the highest level possible. I, for one, enjoy watching to see what they can do. They may not play well enough to win as much as they would like, but I like watching them progress. This is not the end of the world. It's all about gaining experience and a chance to stay on a major league roster. It's enjoyable for me.
  9. We have fallen out of contention for '25. That doesn't mean we should write off '26 and beyond! Keep Ryan as part of a very solid pitching staff so the new ownership has a solid base to start with. That is, if a new owner is actually on the horizon. Keep the pitching and add offense.
  10. Consider this....Buxton has spent so much time on the IL that he really has a younger body than his years of service. In other words, he's a 31 year old with a 28 year old body. I'm going with that, considering how he's playing right now. :)
  11. I disagree with both of you. This is a wonderful opportunity for Byron, and we all should be very happy for him. His dedication to this team only underscores his desire to see the Twins have success. He deserves this as much as anyone does.
  12. The Twins don't do long relief. Unless you want to call the starter who comes in after the opener. Does Rocco ever let any reliever pitch more than one inning? Even if they throw less than 10 pitches. So frustrating 😫
  13. As long as this front office is in place, and Rocco continues to implement analytical decision-making, they have the manager they want. Plain and simple. Nothing changes until the team is sold.
  14. I must be in the minority here, but I will take Gladden alone before Chatterbury. I like his brutal honesty at times. He likes being the hard nosed guy..
  15. In 1965 the Twins actually made an album ( a 33 1/3 rpm vinyl record, for you youngsters) called "The last of the ninth". I think my brother still has it, although we probably played it a hundred times. Lots of walk off wins in their pennant winning season of '65.
  16. Byron has had a history of dealing with migraine headaches. I would be interested to know if a possible concussion has any negative effect in that regard. Here's hoping that both our stars aren't out too long.
  17. I'll be surprised if Lewis makes it out of rehab without the hammy barking again.
  18. He's the one guy I'd lock up for the next nine years. This year, the next six pre-FA years, and the two FA years. He will hit. EmRod probably won't hit, you don't know if he'll figure it out. Keaschall? If you bat him, he will hit. Jenkins? Agent won't let him be locked up. Keaschall is the man, and it starts now. It's too bad Eeles has been hurt. Wonder how he's doing? They just added him to the 40 man. Don't worry about locking him up for the next bunch of years at this point. He might be great, or he might not. It's a bit early to tell of he's a lock to be even above average. I hope you're right, and it is going to be exciting to watch him develop with the big club!
  19. How bad will it have to get before Rocco is let go.....only to be replaced by someone just like him, I suppose.
  20. Maybe if Correa and Buxton would show up and contribute, things could turn a bit.
  21. It seems doubtful to me that contract extensions would be on the table until ownership issues are more clearly defined. No sale this year probably means extensions are going to be put off as well. Revenue looks to significantly less than in the past.
  22. Why so hard on Dobnak? He's done well this spring and has a guaranteed contract. If you're gonna pay the man, play the man! How are some folks so convinced that he will fail? He's not going to asked to be the closer. He knows what his role will be....
  23. It's becoming obvious that Varland is headed to the pen. He looks to be the 2-3 inning guy that the Twins need, although he might be best in max effort, one inning outings. Either way, this is the right move with the number of starters he's up against.
