    I do think the Twins need another starter now; regardless of how well regarded our youngsters are. Additionally, with the bullpen depleted of two of our best, Varland could start the season as an 8th or 9th inning option if the Twins were to secure depth at starting pitching.

    I was at the Twins vs. Braves a couple of days ago and Martin started at 2nd base. He made two beautiful plays and looked good hitting even though the Twins only got a few hits. He is certainly athletic and looks like a solid ballplayer. He's my choice in CF if Buxton goes down. Here's hoping Byron a great season and no need for more than a back up CF!

    If Miranda continues to hit and shows well in St. Paul, he could be part of a trade package. Of course, if Santana or Kirilloff go down with injury then that is a different story.

    I still believe DeScalfini begins the season on the DL and Varland with the Big Club.

    I don't get the hate/dislike either. I think Kirilloff has a reasonable chance of having a very big season for the Twins.

    I think Larnach and Miranda are definite trade candidates as is Farmer, assuming health with our existing guys.

    I'm also pleased both players are on the team. I do feel that Farmer could be part of a mid season trade based on potential need. Nevertheless, he should be a valuable piece to the puzzle.

    I wonder if Sano bought into the Minnesota out of shape philosophy at the same time. Sano is responsible for what happened in Minnesota and no one else. He was tremendously overweight and ignored the Twins on getting in shape. Sent him down to the minors to get in shape and still didn't figure it out. He wasted his talent.

    By undeveloped hitter, my translation is he can't hit. It's pretty unlikely that a weak hitter in A ball turns into a serviceable major leaguer other than as a defensive replacement.

    That is a good call out regarding the 5 spot. There are very few teams that have proven 5th starters that don't have question marks. I am hopeful, that if needed, the Twins trade for a quality starter by the trade deadline. There is a surplus of talent on the farm that can create immediate value for the team should the need arise.

    I agree with your comments. Time and performance will give us our answer. Ober and Ryan may well be improved and Paddack ought to be a solid starter. The low grades seem to be based on the lack of movement in top pitching. Let's see how the Twins do and what the next steps are at the trade deadline.

    I completely agree. Let's also not forget that while Polanco was a great Twin, injuries and age are taking their toll. I think Julien sticks at 2nd base this year unless he regresses, or Lee is simply unstoppable. If all this plays out, then the trade deadline will prove very interesting with Farmer potentially on the block.

    Miranda was so bad last season, it is hard to forget.

    I feel badly for Martin too; although I do like this move. I suspect if he plays well at St. Paul, he might be part of a future trade for a staring pitcher around the trade deadline.

    you've got to give to get and Miller was blocked with the Twins. Good trade. Low risk.

    I am done with the argument as well. St. Louis overpaid for their starting pitching. If needed, the Twins will make a move at the trade deadline. And Maeda was a typical 5 last year. We've got two guys who seemingly can replace him.

    I agree, 2024 has the potential to be a very good team. Coming from the corporate world, "right sizing" sounds terrible; however, I choose to stay optimistic that the Twins will do what they should at the trade deadline; assuming they are doing well and have needs. And yes, I had hoped for a one year "prove it" contract for Montgomery.

    I don't think it's a no brainer; however, it is quite odd that no team has gone for the minimum to sign Bauer. Almost seems like he is black listed by the league. And if the guy is signed and is poisonous to the clubhouse, that could be disruptive even if outrighted. My pie in the sky is the Twins get Montgomery for one season. 1 800 unlikely!

    I think this was a terrible article. They weren't lies. The Twins were mistaken with some of their statements, but do not appear to have purposefully said untruths. I do think the team can improve simply with our youngsters gaining experience and having Correa and Buxton healthier than last season. I also think the Twins are not done making moves. Sometimes it is good to see what you have before making moves for the sake of making them. None of us have crystal balls into what the Twins are thinking.

    I could actually see the Twins signing Montgomery to a one year deal. They might need to make a subsequent deal to create space with their self imposed salary cap. Bellinger has been so inconsistent that I wouldn't go near him.
