  1. They may overpay to get a bat like Kep and we have Rodriguez waiting in the wings. (although 2025 is more likely for debut)
  2. I don't see them trading Paddock. Outside of 3 games (2 against Yankees) he has been pretty good, coming off of injury. Yes he only has 3 QS, however, I feel like that is more of a coaching thing than him pitching poorly. 7 of 12 starts have been 3 or less runs and only 3 have been over 4 runs. 7 games he hasn't even thrown 90 pitches and only 2 of those did he get blown out. I am not saying he won't be traded in the offseason (although I doubt he would), just for sure not now.
  3. Duran, SWR and Alcala were all received in trades so, like Ryan, they are not "home grown". That being said the organization has done well to get them to the next level. Thielbar was found in independent league.
  4. I don't see an issue with calling it a pipeline, However, we have to have continued success. The starting staff has Ober (from our "pipeline), beyond that I am not certain that we have anything. I do think we have some very good arms on the farm but will it translate. Varland has not been good as a starter in the Majors, and I believe he will/should take Thielbar's position eventually. I think if we can get continued success with (when brought up), Festa, Raya, Soto, Lewis etc, you can call it a "pipeline".
  5. Odd how that works. He stayed in there tonight and helped give the Twins a little more cushion. Don't care about the Ks he is more productive than Farmer.
  6. Absolutely not. Dont care how good Julien is doing at the plate 1. it was the 5th inning and 2. Farmer isnt hitting any better. I would prefer to keep the guy who has 7 HR, in the game until 8th or 9th if they need to pinch hit.
  7. I agree. If that throw was at the base Witt beats it. Not to mention it was right on Witt. Correa just had to catch it and his glove was on him.
  8. I don't believe he has but he is 36 (35 last year after injuries). I am sure there are others that don't throw hard, he is just the first that came to mind. For 6 years he was a top pitcher in the league winning CY once and could have easily one it a second time.
  9. That would be nice however as a FA do they want a short term deal? Bellinger (28) maybe more likely than Montgomery (31) but I don't know.
  10. I don't believe Kuechel had high velocity. If he can get up to 92-94 and have good control those other pitches will help him keep hitters off balance.
  11. I'm all for it if he can perform, but .237 at St Paul doesn't scream that he is ready. That being said guys like Farmer or Santana aren't necessarily locks to make the roster, IMO. They are getting paid a reasonable amount that wouldn't really be tough to DFA if Severino, Miranda, Martin and Lee have a great spring.
  12. I understand what you are saying but when was the last time he was out an extended amount because he slammed into the wall?
  13. Doesn't look hard no, just remember most of the games we lost, when Gray pitched, they didn't score runs or Rocco took him out at 80 pitches because he wasn't sharp (even though he was not giving up runs).
  14. I agree slightly. If he couldn't play the OF he should have been shut down before season started. I don't think he is able to be a DH every day. He took one bad AB into the next. You could argue that it was because of the injury, but that makes my point. If healthy we need him out there in CF at least 60-70% of the time. With Bux and Willi on the base paths, that would be a lot of fun. Coaches need to cut the players loose to steal more bases, especially if there are guys hitting .200. It puts more pressure on defenses, which could create more hits for those guys.
  15. I agree, as a starter Louie wasn't great IMO, wasn't bad either. But in pen he was very good. Lopez, Ryan, Ober and Paddock is a good start for rotation. Go get one more good arm and they are set.
  16. Problem with Dobnak, he was a good story but throws soft and doesn't miss bats
  17. Can they sign Tsyoshi Nishioka too?
  18. Hey Tom, great video. It's nice to have this laid out for us fans. What do you think the chances of Jeffers trade? I am not saying it should or shouldn't happen. That being said here are the moves I would make... Lopez Gray 2 yr 36 mil with 1 yr option. Ryan Paddock Ober (Would love to add Montgomery but won't happen) 1b: Kirilloff/Severino 2b: Julien 3B: Lewis SS: Correa LF: Waller/Castro CF: Buxton/Martin RF:Kepler C: Vasquez/Carimargo
  19. Headrick was a rookie so I will give hime a pass. Going into last year I had the same feelings about Sands but he ended up (after IL stint) with 3.74 ERA. Before the injury I believe it was under 2. Strikeouts could come up /9 a little but fairly good numbers. Winder is the only one I am not high on for now. Seems like he is a long reliever type that will give up a lot of runs (over 4 era)
  20. I was curious to see if/how draft picks were improving. Here is the basic stats for just the last 2 drafts as of Aug 26th
