  1. Dusty Baker would have had the Twins in the WS this year. Would they have won? Probably not but spending 2 billion on contracts is not needed to win. They have some big contracts too.
  2. The First part of your statement is incorrect. They know what they are doing. The last two sentences are correct however, they don't know how to run a sports team and think their moves have no consequences.
  3. I understand what you are saying but he was "coaching" while with the Twins. I wouldn't hate Cruz as the pick as I felt the Twins players did better hitting when he was here. Bomba Squad
  4. My fault I read it fast and thought you said with Varland, Festa and Matthews being first up from AAA
  5. Absolutely not. Varland is no more than a pen guy. I have been saying this since before the season started. He proved it this year. The pen is where they need the most help anyway.
  6. You could argue that Festa and Matthews were bright spots too. I don't get into the analytics but from afar they seemed good. Overall ERA may look scary but just like Sim, the increased workload played into that I believe.
  7. Twins have guys who can steal, they just don't send them. Martin is a right-handed bat he probably will be around a while.
  8. The Draft Tracker still has him as 54 years old. Seems a little old to be drafted.
  9. Someone may have already said this (I haven't gone through all comments), but every player (minus the one pitcher) is college hitter. I kind of like it. You know a little more about what you have with hitter in their 20s. Twins, I think, feel they can make pitchers improve easier than hitters.
  10. I don't think that would happen at all especially in those situations. If they have under 80 pitches and you attack him for leaving players in there (the way they were pitching) then you probably need to learn the game. I did make the same point in my original response that we don't know for sure how it would go. My only point is if Twins have/had 3 pen guys they can trust you can't take starter out on such few pitches after 5. I understand seeing a batter for the 3rd time sometimes goes south but they are professionals treat them like it. I am not calling for Rocco to be fired, just saying IMO these were L's because of his moves.
  11. Don't like Festa being lumped in there. SWR was not good his first few chances. Festa could go either way but seems to have what it takes (other than experience)
  12. Just a little data... 4/8 Ober 5IP 68 pitches left with a lead 4/14 Ober 6IP 84 pitches left with a lead 5/7 Tell me if you hear this one before Ober 5IP 84 pitches (issue 1) Alcala went out for a second inning (in 9th) in tie game. No longer can have a save Duran should have been out there Julien Replaced by Farmer in 5th and Larnach Replaced by Margot in 5th 5/17 SWR pulled after 5 2/3 IP 79 pitches. Okert gave up HR in 6th (only run SWR "gave up") 6-11 Varland (only good start) 5IP 0 ER 63 pitches. All losses.
  13. Obviously we don't know the outcome if he doesn't make certain decisions, however pinch hitting before the 7th is bad decision. I understand match ups but younger guys (LHH) don't get better if you don't let them face LHP. Also early on (and throughout his coaching career) I feel he had to fast of a hook when pitchers are doing well. I think last year alone Gray was taken out after 80 pitches and bullpen lost it.
  14. They may overpay to get a bat like Kep and we have Rodriguez waiting in the wings. (although 2025 is more likely for debut)
  15. I don't see them trading Paddock. Outside of 3 games (2 against Yankees) he has been pretty good, coming off of injury. Yes he only has 3 QS, however, I feel like that is more of a coaching thing than him pitching poorly. 7 of 12 starts have been 3 or less runs and only 3 have been over 4 runs. 7 games he hasn't even thrown 90 pitches and only 2 of those did he get blown out. I am not saying he won't be traded in the offseason (although I doubt he would), just for sure not now.
  16. Duran, SWR and Alcala were all received in trades so, like Ryan, they are not "home grown". That being said the organization has done well to get them to the next level. Thielbar was found in independent league.
  17. I don't see an issue with calling it a pipeline, However, we have to have continued success. The starting staff has Ober (from our "pipeline), beyond that I am not certain that we have anything. I do think we have some very good arms on the farm but will it translate. Varland has not been good as a starter in the Majors, and I believe he will/should take Thielbar's position eventually. I think if we can get continued success with (when brought up), Festa, Raya, Soto, Lewis etc, you can call it a "pipeline".
  18. Odd how that works. He stayed in there tonight and helped give the Twins a little more cushion. Don't care about the Ks he is more productive than Farmer.
