  1. Not true. See numerous discussions on this in TD.
  2. Martin.......... just him bunting would be better than Gallo.
  3. Interesting that Miranda and Gordon are the best and their hitting was terrible this year. Castro is a free swinger but has a lower SO rate. And, yes, I can think of 29 times I would have preferred that Correa struck out. Even though Wallner and Julien have high SO rates, I really like that they work the count and at least they often make the pitches throw at least 5 or 6 pitches to get them. I see Emma Rodriguez doing the same thing. Is this a philosophy that the Twins are trying to teach in the minors - very selective on pitches to hit with the downside being more SO's looking?
  4. Julien starting at 1B is a great sign that Rocco doesn't want Joey Gallo. Even without Kirilloff, that would be two people ahead of Gallo at every position. This has got to be the end of his time here.
  5. Kirilloff isn't going anywhere. He will at 1B for the Twins next year.
  6. Very easy - Moran with a forearm strain. IL-60 and Martin's is in. Or if Buxton is totally shut down. A lengthy discussion of this on TD ended with the commissioner basically rubber stamps these post-September moves from within the organization.
  7. These highlights of Martin in CF seem to show he is really good out there. Now, hopefully he never forgets how many outs there are. Still not counting him out as an add to the 40 man and being on the playoff runner mostly as a pinch runner.
  8. The Twins will have to do it without their best guys in the end. Correa and anyone kind of injured will get plenty of rest. We will see a lot of Keuchel and the back end of the Twins bullpen once we have clinched, probably even rotating guys to and from St. Paul to eat up innings.
  9. A manager's job is to win as many games as possible under the rules of the game. If Cleveland wins the next two by one run because of the bullpen and then miraculously catches up to the Twins, you will see a lot of comments that Francona made a brilliant move on Labor Day. In the NFL, players will stop at the 1 yard line so the other teams have no chance of winning. Would any manager dare to tell the runners not to run home so the opposing team can't pitch a non-pitcher, thus forcing the Guardians to keep using up their pitchers in this case? MLB definitely needs to change the rules because what's next, the Guardians pitchers are lobbing balls in at 58 mph to save their arms..................
  10. For rookies, it's 4 by Alexi Ramirez for the White Sox in 2008.
  11. Rocco said on the radio pregame show that Buxton is not with the Saints on their road trip to Louisville and they will see what next week brings.
  12. Ben Ross gets the call, to Wichita, as Helman is done rehabbing and back with the Saints.
  13. I agree that Larnach will be on the trade block this off-season. Though, I think Kepler should be on the trade block. His trade value will never be higher than it is now and it's just my opinion that he is more likely to return to 2020-2022 and early 2023 form than to duplicate what he has done in the last half of 2023. I would love an outfield of Martin, Lewis and Wallner with Castro off the bench (this assumes Buxton can't play CF) with Lee at 3B and Julien at 2B. Very young but I also think we will have the OF depth in St. Paul to help out if someone fails. Look out in 2025 as we could have Emma Rodriguez and possibly Jenkins banging on the door of the Twins OF. Of course, if the Twins don't value our Saints quite as much now, that could be why they go with Kepler for one more year (and I do think that is what the Twins plan to do at this point).
  14. If we're going deeper than Lopez, Gray, Maeda, Ober, Ryan, Duran, Jax, Thielbar, and Pagan in the first round, it's mop up time anyway.
  15. Not so fast - Lee 4 for 5 today with a triple and homer. Although I do think Jenkins will supplant Lee in the middle of next year................... because Lee is playing for the Twins and is no longer a prospect.
  16. Solano has been really good and yet we have multiple people every week on TD saying that we should DFA him when other people come back from injury. Solano also has never hit the IL this year and plays multiple positions on defense.
  17. Their pitching went from bottom of the league through most of July to off the charts better than anyone in the league since then. Great job coaches as it is more than just the Raya, Nowlin and Grace callups from High A doing this.
  18. SSS but Jenkins is doing incredible in low A with a .438 batting average and 1.111 slugging.
  19. Seems like a person kind of knows which people are in the monthly minor league awards for the rest. As for the relief pitchers, I just don't remember each of their great short relief outings for the month so most of these guys on this list surprise me each month.
  20. Isola has zero chance of being a backup catcher. He rarely plays catcher right now in the minors. Emergency catcher only if he makes MLB.
  21. Fajardo with 17 stolen bases in August. Wow, that is amazing. I wonder if he again gets selected by another team in this winter's Rule 5 draft. Playing in AA all year, does that qualify him for the AAA Rule 5 draft? My reading says the Twins just need to add him to the AAA roster to avoid that, if I'm understanding correctly.
  22. I see why the national rating agencies love E-Rod. His hits are often for extra bases and he has a good eye at the plate. My impression is that he has a little Julien in him and takes too many strikes. Much better to have this than to try correct a problem of swinging at everything. I would have picked Harry, Jenkins (wow, is this guy really 18 years old!) and E-Rod for hitter of the day.
