  1. Wow, those numbers aren't very good. Currently, with these numbers, we wouldn't be any better with Polanco in replace of Julien, Gallo in place of Santana, Gordon in place of Margot, Maeda in place of Varland, Pagan in place of most of our bullpen. Taylor in place or Margot would be better though. Thanks for posting this.
  2. Looking for good news with the Twins playing poorly but there isn't a whole lot in the minors either. Festa and Alcala both pitched great. Whorff and Matthews did as well. Gabby Gonzalez broke out of a slump and had 3 hits. Cespedes continues his great start. De Andrade getting back and getting a hit is a positive on the injury side.
  3. "Does anyone else understand why Randy Popkin is still the Twins hitting coach?" No. Because I thought it was David Popkins. Who knew!
  4. The Farmer, Margot and Santana moves are really looking bad right now. Take that money and put it to one starting pitcher or someone like Hoskins and/or Taylor would have been far better at this point.
  5. Thus far, no Duran, Topa or Thielbar (1 game), and the bullpen has a 2.17 ERA. My current grading for the front office as far as the bullpen additions and depth goes would be an A+. Now, as for the hitters on the bench and the moves made in the offseason, I give the front office an F.
  6. Yes, Wallner is a viable bat. But look at his minor league career, at his first 50 AB's each year. Except for one year, he is a slow starter. Would we be okay if he doesn't hit great in his first 50 AB's (he's far from great right now). He heats up with the weather. Because of his poor ST numbers, I even pondered if the Twins should start him out with the Saints and most on TD thought I was nuts. I do think he needs to go to the Saints but bring him back up when he heats up (and works on his weak area as others have stated).
  7. E-Rod and Cespedes are the hitters with great starts with Keashall and Chourio playing well. Prato has an OBP of .500 wtih 12 walks already. Injured list has a bunch of guys I would like to see - Jenkins, Lee, Helman, Canterino, Headrick, Cory Lewis, and Prielipp. The Twins getting healthy will make the Saints better as well.
  8. SWR was great on Saturday and is firmly cemented as our #6. But I wouldn't call him up to replace Varland based on one game. He has a 7.56 ERA with the Saints this year. He needs to work on consistency and we will need him soon enough in the rotation.
  9. Culpepper with a nice first start. Can we just send him, Morris, and Matthews to Wichita and do all piggy-back games rather than ever using the Wind Surge bullpen. Yikes, we have a bad bullpen in Wichita.
  10. Castro, Farmer, and Margot have been huge disappointments so far this year. At a minimum, they have to play good defense. They are all turning outs into hits (because the Detroit scorekeeper is so biased towards giving Tigers players hits on anything).
  11. E-Rod was 3 for 5 with 5 BB's vs. Frisco as well, a team that is 6-2. Springfield is 8-0. So those teams are 7-1 against other opposition. SSS but it was a little more than just Springfield.
  12. Another homer and two more walks for Emma tonight. I am so impressed with his start to the season at AA.
  13. I didn't really like the package we got for Polanco but Julien is better than Polanco right now. Julien's defense has improved and Polanco's range has decreased. Polanco's stats so far (SSS I know) - batting .176 with 1 homer, 6 BB's and 20 K's. I'm not sure Mariners fans are happy with the trade.
  14. Andrew Morris is looking good. It could be a good battle to see who gets promoted first - him, Zebby Matthews or CJ Culpepper. E-Rod won it for the Kernels in the championship last year. He beat the Yankees in spring training 2023 with a homer. He sure seems to have a flare for the dramatic and clutch situations don't seem to faze him. Kind sounds like Royce Lewis, and the Twins could sure use more clutch players. Sorry to see De Andrade go down.
  15. Anyone know if his fielding is good or not? Errors don't tell everything in the minors but I see he's made plenty of them at 3B. Less errors at 1B and 2B.
  16. Can we have this posted in the Twins locker room! May as well post this in the locker room while we are at it. Matthews hitting 97 mph. Kernels fans had better go see him pitch soon. He's going to be in Wichita before you know it.
  17. Where is the Cedar Rapids article? Not sure how Ryan Jensen gets pitcher of the day for his one inning of work. Zebby Matthews pitches 5 shutout innings with 8 K's and 0 BB's. The middle of that Kernels order had a great night with Olivar and De Andrade combining for 5 hits. But Rubel Cespedes stole the show - 4 for 5 with 7 rbi's including a 2B and HR. What's a guy got to do to get hitter of the day? He's never been talked about as a prospect with a chance to make MLB and repeated low A last year (.233 average with 13 HR's but 101 K's).
  18. Gabriel Gonzalez continues to smack the ball. Yea! But three errors in one game for an OF. I hope he isn't that bad out there.
  19. The positives - Martin had a great night. Correa and Kirilloff are playing well. Alcala isn't injured and pitched. Bullpen is looking good without a lot of guys that we planned on. That's about it. Need a lot more hitters to do something.
