  1. If you just look at the hitters and the starting pitchers they are essentially performing like Cedar Rapids last year. But the bullpen for Wichita has been blowing five run leads consistently (about 5 times or more already this season). Don't know much about the Wichita manager but Brian Dinkelman in Cedar Rapids seems to get the most of his team every year.
  2. At least with Audacy, there is a delay. Don't go looking at box scores, etc. , if you don't want to accidentally know the Twins hit a HR before you hear it "live".
  3. Some decent reports from the farm, especially Doncon's hitting. But the Cory Lewis announcement that he's moving to the 60 day IL probably more than sours any good news of the day. How long before Brooks Lee and Walker Jenkins join him on the 60 day. With Prielipp and Canterino also on the 60 day IL, this is 25% of our top 20 prospects not participating so far this year. No wonder our MiLB records haven't been great.
  4. Wallner with 3 straight games with a homer. Bowen could end up being the gem in the Polanco trade and not Gonzalez. Anyway, nice start for him today. For anyone on here who goes to Wichita Wind Surge games, I hope you have a good heart. 8-0 lead going to the bottom of 8 and it ends at 8-7 with the tying run on third. All too common for them this year. Oddly, it was really a bullpen game and the first two pitchers (Wittgren and Rozek) were fantastic.
  5. I agree with you on Severino. If he doesn't start hitting, his 40 man spot is in danger. Wallner, after a horrific start, has just hit homers in three straight games. He won't lose his 40 man spot.
  6. Varland and Matthews were sensational. Nice to see Wallner hit homers in consecutive games.
  7. This is always the monthly award where I don't have a clue who is going to get it. I don't realize that someone has strung together a bunch of good relief outings (though I should as we had plenty of bad ones in the minors in April!). Thanks for posting this article.
  8. But what does he actually want to be called? I've listened to a couple radio broadcasts of the Wichita games. I hear him called....................... Emma. I'm thinking they are using the common name they hear when interacting with the players.
  9. Martin is doing well in very SSS. Kiersey is having a great season (problem - he's not on the 40 man roster). Helman is hitting homers but not for average, like in the past. He can play everywhere except catcher. Prato is another decent player. High OBP right now. BA is only average. Wallner and Severino are both playing terrible right now and clogging up the 40 man roster. I wonder if the Twins might DFA Severino at some point if he keeps playing like this.
  10. That isn't allowed. Otherwise, every team would be pulling this trick to get another pitcher up for a few days and then send him back down like Boushley was.
  11. I agree with your choice of Cespedes. E-Rod getting dinged a little cost him some production at the end of the month. Cespedes was consistent every week.
  12. I'm just much higher on Miller in High A. In low A, Doncon has 2 HR's with a .263 BA and has made 3 errors. He won't be a SS if he ever makes it to MLB, and plays 3B now twice as much as he does SS.
  13. To make matters worse, we traded the best fielding SS in the minors to Dodgers to get him and he's suddenly hit 5 HR's with a batting average of .250 through May 1.
  14. Interesting - I think the Twins announced that Zebby Matthews was their minor league pitcher of the month. He didn't even make the top 4 here.
  15. The games I have watched, Margot's defense isn't even average. He doesn't catch balls that an average OF would catch.
  16. I know nothing about Laras but see he had an 8.13 ERA in 2023. 43/8 K to walk ratio though that year.
  17. De Andrade is young. Low A last year and High A Cedar Rapids this year. I have seen Ross, Schobel and even Shuffield at SS for Wichita so far this year IIRC. Keaschall will most likely join this group by July. None of these guys is a future Twin at SS IMO. De Andrade is the one has the defensive tools to stay at SS.
  18. Sure seems like our starters pitch decent on most of our teams and the bullpens are terrible. I know the starters are the better pitchers in all the organizations. But our hitters aren't killing the other teams "bad" bullpen pitchers like they are doing to our bullpens. Odd.
  19. I believe the Twins think they can pass Henriquez through to St. Paul when they DFA him. Didn't he get DFA'd over the winter and nobody took him?
  20. Just dreaming of Julien and E-Rod at the top of the lineup in 2025. If you don't throw strikes, you will walk two guys with Lewis, Correa etc. coming up, and the pitcher being pretty frazzled, as well as the pitch count climbing. Can't just throw it down the middle either as that's what they are waiting for and it ends up over the fence.
  21. Wallner is going to break out and start his hot streak in May. Maybe Will Holland is this years Anthony Prato. Prato started out 2023 in AA Wichita, hitting for a .171 BA and .553 OPS. He; then hit .302 with the AAA Saints, with an OPS of .991 the rest of the year. Holland's stats in 2023 in Wichita were .197 and .606. This year with the Saints, he has a BA of .364 and an OPS of .967.
  22. I think it was @Seth Stohs who mentioned that Jackson's guaranteed pay may be large enough for another team not to claim him. Thus, we would have him at AAA to return when injuries occur.
  23. Is Julien okay? Read that he had an issue in the 9th inning. You made a nice summation of the possible transactions this week. Assuming Julien isn't a possibility to hit the IL.
  24. Who has the better chance of making the majors - Nowlin or Pierson Ohl? Ohl has walked 35 in 240 innings. SO's - Ohl 231, Nowlin 236. Hits - Ohl 238, Nowlin 178. IIRC - Ohl throws in the low 90's, Nowlin in the upper 90's. Nowlin has to reduce his walks but Ohl has to increase his velocity or else the MLB hitters would just foul off everything until they got a mistake pitch. I think it's easier to increase control than add velo so I would say Nowlin has the better chance. Many disagree. Interesting to watch that variation at Wichita I'm sure.
  25. Nice starts by Nowlin, Culpepper, Bowen and Varland. After the 44 pitches by Raya and some saying the Twins don't let any of their starters throw many pitches, I've started watching that. Results - Varland 83, Dobnak 89 (63 for strikes!), Nowlin 76, Culpepper 78, Bowen 84, and Pasqualotto 86 (60 for strikes). Maddux Houghton really has good numbers in his repeat of low A (.423 BA, 1.203 OPS, 4 SB). Probably not enough to beat the still on fire Cespedes (.375 BA, 1.116 OPS) for hitter of the month as he didn't play much early.
