  1. #1, #2, and #3 prospects all injured. That has to be something no other team can match. Wichita is in Groundhog's Day. Decent starting pitching by Adams, sizeable lead midway through the game, and the bullpen blows it bigtime. Though he doesn't wish to be right, @Dman continues to be right about their pen.
  2. Bowman has actually been really good so far. I'm thinking SWR for Henriquez and then Duran for Funderburk next week. But when Topa comes back, so many guys don't have options (including Bowman), so who would be the odd man out...........................
  3. Festa's first three games - 8.1 innings with 8 hits and 9 BB's but no homers. Last two games - 7.1 innings, 6 hits, 3 BB's and 1 HR. I love the 1 homer in 15 innings. Innings at least moving in the right direction, as well as his walks per inning.
  4. I agree, unless the Twins are really thinking about his overall innings count for the year and think they are going to need him to pitch in MLB. That's the only reason I can see this. Festa was pitching six innings in several starts in 2022. No known injuries with the Twins in his minor league career to my knowledge.
  5. Cespedes and E-Rod battling it out for minor league hitter of the month. Keirsey playing well. Fajardo seems to have switched from high average, low HR player to the reverse. I'm sure he's trying to add power to his game because he probably needs it to make to MLB. What do we know about Jarret Whorff? He has had a great month of April but doesn't seem to go very deep into games (not as restricted as Raya of course).
  6. You would think a team would start weighting the amount of time played in their drafting. A kid starts pitching at age 15 and is an equal rating (or maybe slightly below) as someone who started at age 10, both stars. The team would take the kid with less pitches made in his arm.
  7. No. Jeffers coming in at DH would remove Kirilloff. Jeffers could come in to play but the pitcher would need to be inserted in someone else's place.
  8. Post game show on the Twins radio just said that Brooks Lee has a herniated disk. Ouch!
  9. If Cory Lewis just need a little extra time to ramp up, I would have thought he would be pitching three weeks into the season.
  10. Combine them and get Chi-Chi Rodriguez!
  11. No, though he would fit in right now. .173 batting average, .612 OPS. Seattle fans aren't exactly thrilled with the trade either.
  12. You don't keep Farmer if he isn't your backup SS. I believe if Brooks Lee was healthy, Farmer would be #4 on the Twins depth chart at SS. You don't trade for Margot if he's not your backup CF. Margot is now #4 on the depth chart in CF, behind Buxton, Castro and Martin. And oh, if Brooks Lee was healthy, he would have had a chance to play starting in game #2 at 3B and SS after that.
  13. I'm very happy with E-Rod's start in AA. I actually thought he would struggle at first. Keep him at AA until mid-season to tweak a couple things you mentioned. But do NOT do an Austin Martin on him and try to make him someone he isn't.
  14. Love the headline. Thought the same thing when I looked at the scores last night. "542 foot blast with an exit velo of 236 mph. " Are you sure they didn't click on kilometers? Someone could get killed by that kind of hit. Raya has pitched so good this year. To only be allowed 44 pitches in his 4th game IIRC really means the Twins are concerned about something with him. He's at a high level for his age but his innings/pitch count is like no other for us.
  15. You had me going there. I had to go check the roster and transactions to see if something happened today. Nope, E-Rod is still in AA.
  16. Buxton is healthy and playing great in CF when he's out there. Stewart is pitching great and I think he should be the closer until Duran gets back. Jax will do just fine in the 7th and 8th innings. Oh, and Duran is throwing bullpen sessions.
  17. No Cory Lewis yet and Raya on a very short leash has hurt the starting pitching. The bullpen has blown some huge leads and has an ERA over 9.00. Also, Cedar Rapids started slow last year and then started winning a lot come about May, if I remember correctly.
  18. Always like to here when pitchers work through bad weather because they will certainly see some of that if they make it to the Twins some day. You think he can stick at SS to MLB? Never seen him play so I'm just going off snippets I've read that he likely won't stick there. If Doncon can stick at SS, it increases my rating for him a lot.
  19. Wow, those numbers aren't very good. Currently, with these numbers, we wouldn't be any better with Polanco in replace of Julien, Gallo in place of Santana, Gordon in place of Margot, Maeda in place of Varland, Pagan in place of most of our bullpen. Taylor in place or Margot would be better though. Thanks for posting this.
  20. Looking for good news with the Twins playing poorly but there isn't a whole lot in the minors either. Festa and Alcala both pitched great. Whorff and Matthews did as well. Gabby Gonzalez broke out of a slump and had 3 hits. Cespedes continues his great start. De Andrade getting back and getting a hit is a positive on the injury side.
  21. "Does anyone else understand why Randy Popkin is still the Twins hitting coach?" No. Because I thought it was David Popkins. Who knew!
  22. The Farmer, Margot and Santana moves are really looking bad right now. Take that money and put it to one starting pitcher or someone like Hoskins and/or Taylor would have been far better at this point.
  23. Thus far, no Duran, Topa or Thielbar (1 game), and the bullpen has a 2.17 ERA. My current grading for the front office as far as the bullpen additions and depth goes would be an A+. Now, as for the hitters on the bench and the moves made in the offseason, I give the front office an F.
