  1. Twins are playing well and winning. No change needed right now. But Margot, Farmer, and Martin need to play well or it's Wallner time. Martin has the options but the Twins really like having his speed and utility in what used to be the Castro position.
  2. After injuring his thumb, he immediately slides head first (actually thumb first) into second base for a double. Looked like he injured it much worse than the first time on the video. Just not a smart play in my opinion. Practice your feet first slides. If you make an extra out because of it, oh well. I think he will be out awhile just because they don't want him injuring it a third time and don't want him to change his swing because of the thumb hurting.
  3. They have much more talent now than in April. Helman and Lee were injured, Wallner and Julien were with the Twins. Get Keirsey back and call up Emma Rodriguez when he gets healthy and you could have a great team in St. Paul. And, as others have said, there is a difference between facing the best pitching versus the worst pitching team in the league.
  4. Kind of ironic that they called up Payton Eeles to take his place, an undrafted free agent signee. Eeles deserved the call up.
  5. Wallner suddenly is on one his hot streaks. Sometimes these things last for a while, too. Nowlin - I think that's 3 out of 4 decent games and this one was just dominant. Who says the Twins don't let their minor league pitchers throw some innings as he went 8! The lack of walks with this just makes his ceiling so high. Consistency is what he needs now.
  6. Adding Julien and Lee just makes that lineup so much deeper. No, but see above. If Julien and Lee have 2B covered in the future, Keaschall needs to add some utility to his game. To me it says that the Twins love his bat and they are trying to give him more options to be called up in 2025 and 2026.
  7. Ah, maybe not the Pirates for long. He has been DFA'd.
  8. Anyone could have taken Helman in the Rule 5 draft this year. Age and recent injuries probably prevented that. He has played a lot of SS this year due to Lee's injury but he is really a super utility like Willi Castro. My impression is that his defense is pretty good. At AAA, when healthy all year, he should hit about .300 with 20 HR's and 20 SB's. Just seems like a guys that should be in MLB but never gets a chance. I actually don't think the Twins would get much in trade for him and I don't think he will be called up unless Castro is injured or there are a slew of injuries.
  9. I would say the starting rotation has been about what I expected overall. Lopez, Varland and Ober worse than expected. Ryan, Paddack, SWR, and overall starters health better than expected.
  10. No, but all the minor league teams/coaches have a different mission than the Twins (whose mission is to win). They are to develop players, specifically ones that could make it to MLB. Those players play 5 or 6 games per week, bat in the top 4 in the batting order and don't get platooned in the minors.
  11. Nope. Keirsey is still injured. Hasn't played a game all month and could down for weeks.
  12. Langenberg got moved up to High A Cedar Rapids today. With Lewis coming back, Whorff gets shifted back to Cedar Rapids as well. Both should be good and much needed for the Kernels as they have been struggling a little since Matthews and Morris got moved up.
  13. I also thought Kirilloff was supposed to be a great defensive first baseman. The Twins really were planning for him to take over 1B. Signing Santana was probably a sign that they have changed their mind on that. The organizational draft backup was Sabato. He has been mostly terrible in the minors though he is doing okay in repeating AA this year, in a very small sample size due to injury. The Twins are a big mystery as to who will play 1B, even in 2025.
  14. Except that Emma Rodriguez is also on the IL again as he reinjured a bad thumb that already had him on the IL a few days earlier. Those can take time to heal or you play at less than your best. I don't think we see him on the Twins this year.
  15. Sure is a lot of complaining about the strike zone almost every game. Everybody should be calling for the robo umps.
  16. With that slide last night, he may be out for awhile again. A thumb injury usually means you aren't 100% for quite some time. I actually don't see him being called up this year as these injuries keep slowing his progress.
  17. Ah, Emma Rodriguez, don't dive head first into a base when returning from a hand injury. Go feet first.
  18. I listened on the radio. Should Margot have caught that ball in the 1st inning? Would Kepler have caught it?
  19. And wa-la, Zebby Matthews is off the development list and Nowlin goes on it. I swear that list is just a way to inflate your roster limit.
  20. With Wichita's bullpen faltering and blowing so many saves this year, why not promote Velez and/or Yanez?
  21. There is actually a good reason now. Keirsey is on the IL and possibly could be there for weeks.
  22. For now, Okert is the best we have. He's terrible (except for the last game) when coming in with runners on. Much prefer him and Thielbar to come in with an out or two and face only lh's. With Thielbar's late start I'm still giving him time to return to form (but I think this is his last year as his bad streaks seem to last longer now), but to figure that out in low leverage situations first.
  23. Replacing Taylor with Margot seems to have been done to decrease the K's and has also resulted in less homers. But Taylor's season isn't any better, batting .198 with 1 HR in 126 AB's. Interesting also that a bad Julien has actually been better than Polanco, who is hitting .195 with 5 HR's and is injured again.
