  1. He's been improving throughout this month. 8 for 22 with 8 walks this past week. I really want to see him get those walks and yet swing more with two strikes when it's close.
  2. You mean if he hadn't been injured for almost the entire year.
  3. We used to list a couple guys on each team who had cold weeks. I'll be the Negative Nellie: Saints - Anthony Prato, Alex Isola and Chris Williams combined to go 1 for 20 (20 at bats between them isn't much time on the field so maybe not a good sign). Varland and Rozek with ERA's over 40.00 from yesterdays game wasn't good. Wind Surge - Guys can struggle when they hit AA. Cardenas and Cossetti combined to go 1 for 27. Schobel and Ortega were only a little better, hitting around .150. Kernels - Jose Salas and Misael Urbina continue their hitting struggles, combining to go 0 for 24. They are not going to be around forever. Rubel Cespedes with a rare rough week, going 2 for 12. Mussels - Isaac Pena was 2 for 17. Byron Chourio, who started out the year hot, continues to struggle, going 5 for 23 without an extra base hit (batting .188 over the last 30 days).
  4. FYI - This quote is old. They are now 21-58.
  5. Martin Cott, 1968, third overall pick of the Astros. He was a catcher and made it to Cavaco's level, A ball. The very next pick..................Thurman Munson.
  6. Wow, the Saints can hit, even against a top ranked pitched. Rare great game for Adams at Wichita. They have so many quality starting pitchers there but they keep sticking with Adams in the rotation. Teams apparently have figured out Cardenas and Cossetti at AA. After really good April's, it's been all downhill. Cardenas OPS - .795 in April, .564 in May, and .300 (not a typo) in June. Cossetti - ..775, .729, and .225.
  7. I wouldn't get too excited. Guys coming off of an injury will often get one day off among the 6 games in a week or two weeks. Hopefully Varland's working on stuff as he's given up 3 runs in the 1st inning, two homers.
  8. Sabato (and Severino's) window to the Twins has closed. Santana is at 1B this year. With Lewis, Correa and Lee lined up for the other three spots, Miranda, Julien and Kirilloff are looking at 1B for 2025. Nice to see Sabato doing better. He will not be added to the 40 man over the winter. Keirsey, Raya, Olivar and Helman would all go on there before him IMO (and I don't think Keirsey and Helman will get added because of their age). The article says all teams love raw power. I'm not sure that's correct. Most of the talk about our sluggers (Wallner, Severino, Sabato) revolves around the strikeout rate being too high. They all get stuck at AAA.
  9. I don't see it unless the Twins are moving other players out of his way with trades. Unless we are moving Lewis to the OF (doubtful at this point), Miranda needs a spot. With Lee coming by 2025, Julien needs a spot (I think he is figuring things out and will return to 2023 form). If Kirilloff is still around, where does he play. All three of these guys (not including Severino) project towards 1B/DH with only Kirilloff able to play in the OF. The Twins play everyone and love flexibility on the bench. Severino isn't good on defense and doesn't play a lot of positions. We'll see. Things happen. I just don't see his path to the Twins.
  10. Keirsey returns for the Saints and plays DH. Picks up right where he left off with his hitting. That is a very nice lineup. The Twins hitters are currently doing well (including Margot and Farmer) so I just don't see Lee, Julien and/or Wallner moving up in the short-term. Speaking of Julien, he's 11 for his last 34 if I'm counting correctly. Very nice pitching - best outing ever by Charlee Soto. Boushley did great and Langenberg did good. Anyone notice on Nowlin - was he great for 4 innings and then couldn't find the strike zone? See he had 4 shutout innings and couldn't get out of the 5th. Quality bullpen guys - Grace, Yanez and Velez. Wonder if we can move any of them up the ladder.
  11. Agreed. And where is Ober in the top three WPA above.........................nowhere to be found. Obviously not a good stat to follow.
  12. If Emma Rodriguez was healthy, he would also be on track for AAA at mid-season. If Helman could stay healthy, I'm a fan of his (I know he's older than the rest of these guys mentioned). Nice group of guys trying to push out some MLB guys and get their chance (or 2nd chance).
  13. Michael Helman, on the 7 day IL. The problem is that if Helman wants to get to MLB, he really needs to work more on in the outfield, at least as far as the current Twins roster goes.
  14. Spencer Bengard is looking like our next Bailey Ober. A 15th round pick, he is having a sensational season. It's early and only low A ball but a very nice start for him.
  15. Rooker for Raya and Schobel - NO WAY! Rooker for Schobel - No.
  16. A couple oddities in the Wichita game - Morris only went four innings after giving up just one run (guess he threw 80 pitches so not as odd as I thought). Sabato pulled very early in the game as well.
  17. No. There's 1.5 million reasons nobody will claim him and $1.5 million reasons Jackson will accept the assignment to St. Paul.
  18. Unless a trade costs almost nothing, I would rather add Varland and Festa to the bullpen in September.
  19. I actually don't remember and didn't look it up to see if MacLeod is part of this group or if injuries made his organizational start late. He has had some ups and downs but more ups lately. He missed so much time so I'm also keeping my eye on him as a late bloomer. And Nowlin isn't from 2022 but I am really excited about him lately. He has had some great games with very few walks (his bugaboo).
  20. I agree. And if we are waiting another month, might as well wait just a little longer and maintain his rookie status for 2025. Go for ROY and earn an extra first round draft pick. As others are saying, there isn't any need to rush him at this point.
  21. I really think Julien will start hitting better, much like Wallner. Then, Julien will get called up and Castro will return to LF and everywhere else. The Twins want Lee to master AAA, from both the left and right sides.
  22. Kirilloff should have told the Twins about his back. But so should Joe Ryan have told the Twins about his injury last year. So many athletes try this and do nothing but look terrible, both with their injured play and telling the team weeks later.
