  1. Agreed. The Twins do have the one advantage of creating cap room in the deal. That was used to sign Santana and that has been a good move.
  2. MacLeod up to AAA. That has to mean he's going to have to be added to the 40 man roster this winter. Good LH starting pitchers are like gold, especially for the Twins, and he would definitely be snatched in the Rule 5 draft.
  3. Not sure how Raya doesn't get at least co-pitcher of the day. Great to see more great pitching from Raya, Bengard and Culpepper (he was probably just good).
  4. No. Zebby is ahead of Morris. I'm thinking Morris moves up to the Saints and sees how it goes there. He seems so similar to Zebby that it may take some time to adjust to the level, as Zebby is getting hit a little more in his start in AAA. Soto has some really nice numbers/outings in July/August. Exactly what we want, improvement.
  5. I don't think most of us think Topa is going to save us. We just think that Topa will do better than Dobnak or maybe Okert. I think most teams would gladly take our top four - Duran, Jax, Alcala, and Sands.
  6. Any yet the Mariners would cancel that trade in a second as Polanco is batting .212 with an OPS of .638.
  7. "Even if he doesn't, he can be a useful depth arm, just as Richards and Randy Dobnak are." Dobnak has appeared to be nothing more than an innings eater so far and not a useful depth arm.
  8. MacLeod has really been pitching well this season. Almost too good as he's a lefty and is Rule 5 draft eligible this year.
  9. Topa in place of Dobnak this week. Also, regular season, Varland is the next starter up. One of the LH relievers has to be medium leverage and think that will be Thielbar.
  10. I think he's figured things out since June 23rd in St. Paul - 30+ innings, 5 ER, 21 hits, 35 K's. I think we'll get to see how he's doing firsthand against Cleveland on Friday. I see him in the bullpen as well this year, but not until September when they are confident we don't need him as a starter.
  11. I'm not sure the Royals trading for guys makes them that much better. Signing Lugo last winter has really made a huge difference this year. They nailed that signing.
  12. Good article. Two corrections IMO. The third SS is Castro. Austin Martin will only appear in RF in an absolute emergency. That arm doesn't play there.
  13. I don't believe that will happen as that will cost Dobnak millions of dollars.
  14. I think it's Topa time for the Twins. Topa up and Dobnak DFA'd so he ends up back with the Saints.
  15. My favorite monthly award just because I have no clue who the names on this list are going to be, even though I pay attention almost daily to the teams. The names from last month to the current month are almost always different as well.
  16. They were just updated and we, the voters, must have dropped him from the top 20. Odd as he has been hot lately.
  17. Nice to see Varland pitching well. Just nice to see Prielipp on the mound. @Seth Stohs - Emmanuel Rodriguez went for rehab, what seems like weeks ago. Now he is MIA. Any news about his whereabouts and when he is returning.
  18. No, IMO. It would have to be at catcher and he is not good there defensively. Hitting is good but not consistent enough to an MLB DH or 1B (not sure that his defense is great there either).
  19. Patrick Winkel's month snuck up on me. Didn't realize he was hitting that well. Keep that up as Cardenas and Cossetti have fallen on hard times at AA since April. We need some hitting from good defensive catchers, which I think Winkel is (but I'm just going off memory and didn't look up any #'s).
  20. Wichita has so many starting pitchers that they have to do this to get them their innings. And the Wind Surge bullpen has blown so many saves this year that the way to win games is just use the starters in piggy backing games. I think it's worked twice this week. Lewis is just a better pitcher than Raya right now but Raya is still young.
  21. Okay, who had Wallner and Vazquez predicted to both be in the top 3 Twins hitters when July started?
  22. Morris just copies Zebby all year. Matthews has his worst game with the Saints in his last outing and Morris has his worst game last night. Of course, it's their worst games because almost every game is great.

  24. Wow, Sands has been that good for the entire month of July. Great!
  25. Technically correct. But in 2024, Severino has played 66 games at 1B, 8 games at 3B, and 16 games at DH. He isn't a utility infielder. The Twins probably don't even consider him a third baseman with this defensive distribution (even while Lewis was injured), which may be why Diego Castillo was called up before Severino.
