  1. I've heard Lee say in interviews that he's batting to hit the first pitch that is hittable. This approach has to change because MLB pitchers are fooling him into thinking most pitches are strikes. He will be good in the long run IMO.
  2. So, I'm hearing that Christian Vasquez and his $10 million next year ain't moving anywhere, for better or worse. Curious, do we think the Twins knew all this was coming when they signed Correa? Also, there may be a lot of minimum salary guys available in February who are pretty good. This is when and where I expect the Twins to shop.
  3. I thought this would be a very hard pick. But if we are including Bengard, that makes it really easy. Great choice.
  4. I would have had Keirsey as the hitter of the year, certainly not ranked #5. His numbers are similar to others except he's the best base stealer, he played at a higher level at AAA, and he plays good defense.
  5. Reminder in regards to the starters - all of them probably had their ERA inflated because the bullpen allowed one of the highest %'s of runners on base to score in MLB history. And that doesn't get reflected on the relievers ERA. Plus, as some mentioned, the bad defense after Buxton and Correa went down really affected our young pitchers as that is when most of them were called up to stay.
  6. What's your basis for firing one or all of our minor league managers? Brian Dinkleman had his team in the playoffs for the last ten years. He started with Zebby Matthews and Andrew Morris this year and they ended up with super seasons, one all the way from A ball to the Twins and the other to AAA. I wouldn't mind seeing him promoted as he and his staff really seem to teach and advance guys up to the next level. Overall, I think the minor league coaches did great on the pitching side this year. Our top hitters all had significant time on the IL. When healthy, they also performed well. Even though they and we all love winning, player development is more important in the minors.
  7. At least one will start the year with the Twins and I would guess it's Festa. I think the Twins will add Raya and MacLeod to your list of starters with the Saints. That will be a great crop of pitchers!
  8. Kiersey's on the 40 man roster so isn't Rule 5 eligible. Holland (he was on the bench half the time when healthy), Cespedes and Rosario won't be selected by any team. I'm doubting Olivar will be selected and he won't be protected. I'm predicting two are protected and many will disagree with one of them - Raya and Christian MacLeod. LH starters are hard to find and MacLeod is very similar to where Headrick was when he was added to the 40 man roster.
  9. Helman recalled. I'm guessing Correa back to the IL as he was probably playing on one healthy foot (and doing quite well).
  10. True but everyone is still referring to the Rangers going 4-16 from August 16 through September 8.
  11. Yes, make the playoffs. Anything can happen with Lopez, Ober, Jax and Duran. I remember the 1987 World Series.
  12. Rosario, De Andrade, and Ross are the three that excite me. I especially want to see De Andrade hit, hopefully better than Noah Miller.
  13. I'm not normally anti-Rocco, but if his calm and trust in players still results in our hitters getting tight in the stretch run, that isn't good. If the Twins don't make the playoffs, I will flip and say Rocco has to go just to make a change. Otherwise, it seems we could see this again next year.
  14. No, 28 is just not young in baseball terms. In fact, he is "so old" that he may be going back and forth between the Saints and the Twins, that they may DFA him and then re-add him when the Twins need him again (may be wrong on this but Keirsey needs to prove he can hit MLB pitching when he gets the small chance). Will he survive the winter on the 40 man roster. I say yes, as the Twins don't have many that have to be added.
  15. "impressive with the time missed and for being a Day 13 draft pick" - Day 13!! That is something. Some typos are just funny :)
  16. Wow, what a great month of September to end the season for Raya. Guess that's why the experts have him rated so highly.
  17. I don't ever see a rule requiring 6 innings from a starter. That would create more injuries. Everyone is so pitch count conscious now. Can you imagine suddenly forcing a starter to throw 250 pitches when he's having a bad day?
  18. Plutko and Harris go to the ever mysterious "development list" because they REALLY need developing in mid-September. So we don't lose anyone.
  19. Interesting transactions today - both Raya and Lewis moved to AAA for at least one shot there this year. I do predict Lewis will be in AAA at the start of next year. If Raya is up as well, think of the rotation - Matthews, Lewis, Raya, Morris, Varland, and probably a veteran (I've got Festa and SWR in the majors).
  20. He's left-handed and we have no confidence in Funderburk (hasn't been very good in St. Paul coming back from injury) and Okert right now, as well as Dobnak. He's an innings eater if we get way behind. Look out bullpen tonight. If one of the bottom guys pitches a lot in a blowout game, they are probably the one going down to St. Paul.
  21. Oh, I agree. I just think he's ahead of Culpepper and will start at AAA. People expect his rebound after last year. Culpepper is flying under the radar right now.
  22. Culpepper had a couple great games to the end on injury-plagued season. He's my prediction for big mover next year, helping out the Twins by September.
