  1. They weren't like that in the minors and many of them start off solid in the bigs. His philosophy of home run or bust kills these kids. Top teams in the league make contact. We're the worst at it. That's only partially a player issue.
  2. Need to keep this up now! Keep AK up near the top lineup, get buck back into cf and don't believe a damn thing out of Rocco's mouth when it comes to injuries. Really hoping Larnach and Miranda will find it in triple a and still add some value to the offense before the end of the year. Need to be consistent now.
  3. Man, it feels like he's a true #2 when he's healthy but if this is more arm issues or fatigue or whatever you want to call it, it feels like there's something not right structurally. Too bad but... I think Ober and Varland can give us what Mahle gives us. Too bad we gave up so much for him. Really hoping Gray signs for 4 years after this year but the Yankees broadcasters said something along the lines of he wants out and to a bigger market...
  4. Just hopping on now... See the Mahle out after 4 talk. Was he struggling or is it a flashback to last year Rocco?
  5. I'll say it again... Rocco will cover his behind this year when it comes to injuries by downplaying them to the detriment of the team. Kepler - "nothing major, he'll be fine" after playing with a short bench for 4 days, he's on the IL. Gallo - "just some discomfort. We don't anticipate him being out." again, short bench for 4 days then to the IL Kenta after leaving his first start shaking his arm "there's nothing wrong with Kenta. Just some fatigue..." after getting our butts kicked yesterday because of the fatigue, just watch. He'll be on the IL too (instead of ober or varland pitching yesterday for a chance to sweep). Keep watching this trend all summer. It will be his new "thing". Having players injured sucks... We know that from last year... But pretending they're not sucks even more because we play short-handed with them unavailable on the bench.
  6. For all of us wishing we had a better option than Kep in right field... We don't at this point. There's almost zero chance we just let him go. It would have to be a trade. Rocco isn't going to just cut him. Julien looks like he's trying to hard. A down and back up would do him well to reset. Buck doesn't look right. The strikeouts are out of control, but that's normal for this team with this manager. Solano reminds me a bit of Eduardo Escobar, not so much in the power department but in his ability to get hits. It's unlike the other players on this team. I just really hope we find a way to have an offense. Our pitching is too good to waste... Side note; any idea why Rocco gets pagan up in the tenth last night? There appears to be no situation in which he was coming in??
  7. Best inning of twins bball I've ever watched and I've been watching since the 80s!! Side note - called the Kepler IL, the Gallo IL and said Maeda would go too... Said we'd see a trend this year of Rocco saying everything was fine only to see guys go to the IL late. He'll continue to do this to try to "fix" the injury issue from last year...
  8. Really like Larnach - can see Cuddy in him. Would've been interesting to see him stay healthy last year. If he can stay disciplined at the plate I could see .280 20hr maybe pushing 100 rbi. Good to see him and Miranda give us good plate appearances. Now if we can get AK healthy and he hits like he did before the injury and Lewis comes back strong we become a much different offensive team.
  9. This absolutely hits it on the head. Bundy and Archer weren't terrible. They just weren't trusted. On their good days they should've been. What I don't think our statistically stuck management realized was sometimes making a change to what is perceived to be weakness (ie third time through) even though it's been done that way for over 100 years, causes a weakness to another... Ie our relief corp being decimated late in the year from being over used. Hopefully, even though they won't admit their mistakes from last year, management has learned from them. The side story is... If they haven't will any pitchers want to come here...
  10. Probably not the comment you want to read but a pitcher in the twins organization that already has shoulder issues and can't be allowed to throw over 4 innings is not what I want to hear when talking about our "top" pitching prospect. It feels like he'll end up going the Duran route. I hope I'm wrong.
  11. I totally agree! CES and Steer are going to be legit MLB players and very possibly all star caliber players for years to come. I was really looking forward to encarnacion-strand in a twins uni. We absolutely did not get the reds to overpay there.
  12. I think if Gray stays healthy and is allowed to go deeper into games he will be that guy. He knows how to pitch and he can throw.
  13. I like Correa there. Polo would be fine too. Nick Gordon when he's in.
  14. If it's not Alcantara the twins don't need "him" whoever him is. We don't need anything other than a true #1. We've got a solid group of 2s and 3s and some intrigue in the pipeline. What puts us over the edge is an ace. Give up Larnach, Martin, Kep and Polo for him. A trade for anything less than an ace doesn't do it for me.
  15. At what point to we stop saying "the contract is astronomical" and just realize that's the world we live in. Our 60k salaries are now worth 30k. A 5 million dollar contract is now worth 30 mil and the only way to get someone to sign is to pay them for years they will be obsolete... Not to mention, only the rich can truly afford to go to more than a few games a year in person.
  16. I think last year our front office got played in the trades they made. I think Steer and CES are going to be above average major league players and we barely got major league talent in return. That makes a rebuild tough when you ship off high level prospects for rentals or worse. That being said... A line up of Arraez, Polanco, Buck, Gallo, Miranda, Waller, larnach, kiriloff, Vazquez... If they're all healthy... Actually sounds like a winning line up with Gordon and Jeffers and maybe Julien or Lee, celestino on the bench. Larnach and Kiriloff have hit at every level but mlb. Wallner has shown no fear moving up. This lineup could hit with the right approach. Starters of Gray Maeda Mahle Ryan and Ober might not win a playoff series but very well could win a playoff game which would be a start. No true number one but three maybe four number twos or threes. Trade or sign two more high level relief pitchers and let's go! This is a team that has very little room for error and I feel needs to change their hitting approach some but if healthy, they should compete to win this division. One more year, then we lose a lot of pitching and things get scary.
