  1. Your take on Bux is too low. I kinda get your logic, but if you look at his WAR over the past 5 years, it's been pretty solid. 11th in MVP voting last year. Yes he's 32, but would you trade him for any of the prospects on this list?
  2. I enjoy that bullpen pitch count. Looks like the spreadsheet is missing 70 Adams pitches from Tuesday. Separately, I've been kind of watching the players we traded away. A spreadsheet on that would be interesting.
  3. "the Twins enjoyed a several-month stretch of high-caliber play last season". As others have pointed out on various site, this is not really accurate. Take away 12-1 (?) vs. the White Sox, and we were a 70 win team.
  4. He should have sent Kepler IMO. Agree, he's been bad for years. I went to a game at Yankee Stadium a couple years back where he sent a guy with no outs who was thrown out. I question whether he is able to take into consideration the multiple scenarios.
  5. I've been looking forward to this guy getting a chance for awhile. I like Martin, but he has not adjusted defensively to the OF. Margot obviously terrible. Castro to me, while solid and valuable, is not an everyday player. Only negative about this is that Keirsey bats lefty, which we have an abundance of. I hope he gets some ABs.
  6. Thielbar medium leverage? C'mon, he's cooked. Proved it again last night.
  7. Watkins continues to be a poor 3B coach. How on earth does he not send Kepler on that play? Too often he sends guys who get thrown out? Twins need to move on from him.
  8. I will give Rocco credit for this year, with the Correa and Bux injuries, as well as starting pitching guys. And bullpen for that matter. Obviously the roster is a bit constrained due to budget as well. He used to drive me crazy with his pinch hitting for guys early in the game. He's had a pretty good record overall. If he has more success in the post season, he could move up in the rankings.
  9. I recall him as described. Good article. Thx. Interesting to look at his OPS, which is on the low side. Too me that has become the go to stat line.
  10. Lewis is too young and athletic to be DHing a lot. He could be an all star at 3B if he puts in the work. I think Miranda has improved, but not sure he'll ever be above average.
  11. I'm putting Alcala's bad outing on management. Too much work for him.
  12. Miranda did play quite a bit of 2B in the minors...he's not great at either 1B or 3B. Why not give him another look there on occasion?
  13. Even with Kirilloff slumping and Santana supposedly heating up, Kirilloff's OPS is still higher. I agree that the Twins are unlikely to do it, but Santana and Margot (yes he had a good game yesterday, but still terrible on the whole) need to both be gone. No upside with either of them.
  14. I'm willing to give him a full, hopefully healthy, season in the majors before I'd worry. He's obviously never had that continuity due to the injuries. His minor league stats (.906 OPS) were outstanding. His overall MLB stats are a little weak given his defensive liabilities. But I think he still has upside.
  15. I'll just start with Margot needs to be DFA'd. I'd rather give DaShawn Keirsey (OPS .962) a shot as the extra outfielder. I don't see how he could be worse. I 100% agree with not pinch hitting for a lefty hitter in the 5th inning against an incoming lefty. There are more right handed relievers, so chances are that move will hurt later in the game.
  16. As you say, we had a surplus of infielders. Julien may (or may not) end up actually being an upgrade from Arreaz. Plus we have others coming. Solid trade.
  17. The jury is still very much out on Simeon Woods Richardson. But yes, the others obviously have looked good. Ober particularly, post his first start of the year.
  18. 100% stay in house. Kiriloff has too much upside. He had a decent year, and continues to show flashes of being elite.
  19. I still think Kiriloff has upside. I'm fine with running him back. Wallner to me should be a starter until proven otherwise. I'd like to flip out Kepler, selling high, and give Larchnach another try. The biggest need is a CF, one who can hit, maybe for less power, but gets on base and strikes out less. Regarding Rocco, I kind of agree. He over manages too much IMO.
  20. Watching the game, it looked like a tough play. Even the announcers said it was home cooking to give Kiriloff an error to help Gray's ERA. They were surprised that he was given an error. I agree.
  21. Pulling Varland might have been the best move Rocco has ever made. Varland did not look good in the series. I completely disagree with pulling our lefty bats in the 4th inning. They are our better hitters, and you knew Toronto would put in righty relievers.
  22. Nope. Ober was better than Ryan. Even after Ryan came back from the injury.
  23. If Lopez and Gray can go on 3 days rest, I'd start them on Saturday and Sunday, then Ober and Ryan/Maeda. Come back with Lopez next Friday if needed, which would be the normal 4 days rest. Definitely Ober over Ryan in general however. Ryan just has not been as consistent.
