Smeltzer is interesting. Hope he does well in Rochester. Maybe he could be the long relief man for Twins
  2. Otwins
It was a fastball on the inside part of the plate after he did not look good against the curveballs
  3. Otwins
Marwin can back up in the OF and at shortstop. Sano starts. Cave to minors. Adrianza waived

What would it take to get Will Smith from San Fran? They need outfielders

I see Colina listed on the IL. What is his injury and how long is he out? Thanks

Not sure having Garver as Gibson's catcher is ideal. He has trouble blocking pitches in the dirt

Thanks for the updates. I went the other way and attended the major league game. Buxton had a very good game at the plate. Laying off breaking balls out of the strike zone and hit a long home run off Evoldi. It went out of the stadium over the 4th umbrella from the foul pole so more towards left center than right down the line. He also pulled a double into the left field corner. Parker looked very good again. That is the second time I saw him this week and both times made quick work of his inning. I was glad to see Tim Collins as he was very sharp on Tuesday. Today he was not as good. Just OK. Morin threw the ball well. Not sure what his chances are of helping this year but it is a long season. One other observation was when the Twins shift against the left handers they use to bring Sano over to the 2nd base side. Today they left Marwin on the left saide and shifted the shortstop over. He made two nice plays on sharply hit grounders. Showed good range. I am not saying we are better off without Sano but we have a lot more range when we shift.

What time are the minor league games tommorrow?

I bought one also. I have a little over 3-1 odds. 3.1 to be exact

Austudillo should make the team and play 3B when they need to move Marwin around. I agree they should be able to withstand this injury. They have added plenty of right handed power and sounds like he should be back by June.

Can Harper make the team off one spring training outing? WOW Thanks for posting

I still think (hope?) they will try and land Kimbrel. Why spend on Cruz and Gonzales and then not fix the biggest problem. I do agree they have improved the depth on the roster. I also like that a number of their signings are still below 30. If they prove to be a good fit then they can try and extend them. Bringing in the number 1 starter will have to wait until the trade deadline.

Bud Norris is still out there also. I do not think McGill makes the team even if no one else signs unless there is someone that starts the year on the DL

The twins signed Torreyes also when they signed Schoop. He is an excellent defensive shorstop. He is not much different from Adrianza and will only be a phone call away if you need a shorstop.

There was a quote from an Atlanta beat writer that stated the Twins have the highest offer to Kimbrel of 3 years $45 million. It was about 10 days ago and it got my hopes up but since then crickets. I am hoping Harper signs with the Phillies. If that happens I think we have a shot at Kimbrel. I doubt that Kimbrel signs before Harper.

I think that is what the opt out is for. I think the Padres have 5 years to contend or Machado will leave. I like this deal for both sides. That is rare. Padres will have so many players at the $500K level that they can afford Machado. They also have prospects to trade for pitching when the time is right.

Why not take care of #8 before the season starts. SIgn Craig Kimbrel. Why wait until the bullpen struggles and we fall behind Cleveland. My guess is Kimbrel ends up signing a three year deal around 50 million.

I hope that they are able to extend Berrios, Rosario, Buxton and Sano. Not all the extensions will work out but they will average out. My objective would be to extend the time this group of players are with the Twins so the next group can arrive and supplement this core. At that point we may actually have some quality surplus to trade and enough depth to be a legitimate playoff team.

Did I understand Duda's contract correctly that it is a minor league contract for $1.75 million and then an additional $1.5 if he is called up. It seems to me like they can stash him in AAA for less than $2 million. Is that accurate?

I really appreciate these articles. Heading to Fort Myers March 9th. I assume he will be on the minor league side. How do you know when he may be scheduled to pitch? Is it posted somewhere. I would like to see him throw.

This is exactly how I feel. I do not mind the Parker or Perez acquisitions but I thought there would be a closer and another starter acquired. I think exploring trading Rosario for a good pitcher makes sense. With Kiriloff and Larnach coming soon and Cave able to fill in this year I think this is the closest thing to a surplus that we have to trade from. It may take Rosario and some prospects but we have a surplus there also.

I thought we would sign a third baseman so if Sano is not producing it would not "tank" the season. I am all for giving him another shot but I am not willinging to write off another season because he cannot lay off the same out of the strike zone breaking ball. Schoop did play some third base in Baltimore but that just moves your issue to second base.

Seems like Hector Santiago 2.0 Hope this works out

This is the most exciting addition of the off season. Hopefully he paid attention when Joe Maddon was his manager.

I would extend Gibson. If not the Twins will need to sign four starters next off season. One young pitcher may step forward but three is still a lot to sign in free agency.
