  1. Twins should follow their own plan, not that of another team.
  2. Baddoo article in the Detroit Free Press: https://www.freep.com/story/sports/mlb/tigers/2020/12/18/detroit-tiges-rule-5-draft-akil-baddoo/3948818001/
  3. Lotta legitimate swagger just left the building. I suppose he has the prospects to replace him, and that's smart baseball, but he is a gamer, and I will miss him. That outfield arm was good too.
  4. Boo. I guess covid-19 will forever change the sports landscape here, everywhere, but this greedy MLB move was planned long before, due to the egg on their face for the shameful wages minor leaguers make. Raise their pay, or just fold em? Hmmm. Oh well, I guess realistically the minors were bound to change anyway. Sad to see a long and fruitful relationship end this way.
  5. Good trade. The Twins wouldn't have won the division (I know, small peanuts) without him. So solid and steady is Maeda.
  6. And so Graterol goes from being one of my favorite prospects to World Series winner. I think he will have a long successful career there. The Fox cameras sure loved him tonight. Maeda's performance this year helps ease the sting.
  7. At the same money they've been paying him? Yes please. I can't imagine him falling off a cliff so steep that it wouldn't be worth it. Cut him off at your own risk - the guy is out of the ordinary, and a great team leader.
  8. Let's hope Maeda was his hero! Maybe he got an autograph or something.
  9. Luis Arraez has never has a batting average below .309 as a member of the Twins organization, going back to 2014.
  10. All this, plus a stable of very good prospects who unfortunately are having a somewhat lost season.
  11. I haven't been paying close attention to other teams this season, but I saw Cabrera clubbed a couple 3 run homers vs. the Twins the other day, and am watching a good KC-Detroit game tonight, and he's 3 for 5 with 3 RBIs, so I thought maybe he had righted the ship and was good again. A trip to Baseball Reference showed me the truth: His cumulative power stats from 2017 to the present: 40 HRs, 153 RBIs, comparable to his MVP seasons. He had over 500 ABs in 2 of those seasons. The Tigers must pay him 94 million the next 3 years. Ouch. And we complained about Mauer.
  12. You can't get more human that shedding tears after being drafted in front of all your family and friends. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8p-A5jDpHYk
  13. Smart move - his health has been shaky for a good while. Enjoy those kids and grandkids Ron, and long and healthy life to ya.
  14. I love the grunt with each pitch. Falvey wins this deal, even though Graterol was my fave. Maeda is just what the doctor ordered.
  15. Agree. They do have the best run differential in the AL at 41, so they haven't all been that close. Only the Dodgers have a better one, alough their's is on a whole different level at +79!
  16. I am happy that this abbreviated season is taking place so that the Twins taking the option on Cruz actually bore some fruit. He really is like a hockey team captain to this club, makes everybody better.
  17. Byron Buxton is looking like he is turning the corner to the stardom we have awaited/expected.
  18. I didn't expect 10-2. With Donaldson, Hill, Bailey iffy, and no Pineda, kudos to the braintrust and the field staff. They're doing this with most guys offensively not even hot or sparking. Out-pitching Cleveland speaks volumes of the all around depth of the 2020 Twins.
  19. A good slider seems to be one of the harder pitches to barrel up for most guys.
  20. They were able to complete soccer seasons in Spain, England, Italy, etc. without any major outbreaks, and there is a LOT more close physical contact in soccer than baseball. My conclusion: MLB is proving inept and providing and enforcing a protocol that keeps players from getting/spreading COVID.
  21. I'd rather see Nick Gordon as the heir apparent if something happens to Arraez. Dozier had a good run, holds the record for most HRs by an AL second baseman, and got a ring. He can retire a happy man.
  22. I saw an article today that Rich Hill is ready to go. I had almost forgotten about him. Nice ace in the hole.
  23. For me, Target is top 5 for sure. SF, SD, PIT, BOS round out my faves, and I am lucky enough to have seen games in all of them.
  24. I saw that as well. Below slot too. Overall, some pretty interesting new prospects for 2020.
