    I was in Cedar Rapids the last 2 nights. Varland and Gross really pop the catcher's mitt. On a side note, the woman I ended up sitting next to and talking baseball with was Matt Wallner's grandma.

    Dang insagt1, I was watching Denmark's game in Euro 2020 where Christian Eriksen had cardiac arrest: so similar. Moments like that underlie the bigger picture: these are games, what's important in life is something else. Hope Brito has a similar recovery.

    Tough to call trading your best hitter by a mile, and your best pitcher by a mile a win. However, given Cruz is in his 40s, and Berrios looked kind of set on leaving after next year, tough to dislike the return on those trades. Still hope to keep Buxton, got a decent core, Kepler, Polanco, the catchers, Donaldson. They are a few pitchers away from at least .500 ball. Won't miss Happ or Robles. Glad it wasn't a fire sale. So I think the front office did a nice job of gaining assets at the expense of the best but short term players on the team, while keeping a core to rebuild around. B

    On the bright side, our scouts have a great eye for talent: Wade, Baddoo, Hendricks, Graterol, etc.

    Guardians sounds weird at first, but it is better than goofy names like Heat, Avalanche, and yes, Wild. Team names should be easily made plural with the addition of an s. An improvement to be sure.

    I guess I love the DH after all, because we got to enjoy 2 of the classiest guys in baseball because of it in the Target Field era, Jim Thome and Nelson Cruz. Gonna miss Cruz: loved the night someone gave everybody robes, and his became the regal cape in the dugout after runs scored. Also loved the routine he had with Sano. Losing Rosario in the offseason, now Cruz, the Twins have zero swagger about them, except maybe Donaldson.

    Saw an article by a Mets writer comparing getting Berrios to Stroman. They said Berrios had a career ERA of 4.11, which seemed high to me. Looking at his career, 4.11 is true, even though his ERA was above 4 only once. It was his rookie season of 8.02 (ouch!) that affects it. It you subtract that season, the rest of his career, the last 5 years, his career ERA is 3.79, which is about exactly what one would expect.

    MLB draft is kind of like opening a new soda because the last one went flat. We get excited because they managed to manipulate the bonuses and eventually sign Will Holland and Willie Jo Gary, which seemed big at the time, but it has gone stale. P****TT! Fresh bubbles.

    Man, some sad batting averages in Fort Myers: Urbina: 194 Sabato: 188 Holland: 171 Garry Jr: 171 OTOH Julien looks amazing: .315 BA, .985 OPS, 16 steals. was he not a guy who dropped and the Twins took a flier on him and managed to sign him?

    Just looked at his numbers after tonight's game: not pretty. .192 BA .724 OPS 4BB vs. 34K He does have the 4 HR and 14 RBI. 11 of his 14 hits are for extra bases, including 3 triples. 2 SB. Still regret losing him, and Ashbury is correct in that we ain't getting him back. That measley OPS is 3rd on the team! Lots cheaper and more productive than Miggy.

    Gotta work in a Twins Saints DH this summer. Best baseball situation in the Cites since the Saints-Millers days: much better actually.
