  1. Dang, Greinke is cooked. Glad to see our bats taking advantage!
  2. Clutch hits?! What is this madness!
  3. Headrick getting his first high leverage outing… thankfully not Pagan.
  4. Dang, Willi Castro is having a great game, 3 times on base and 2 steals. This dude's been way more valuable than anybody thought he could be.
  5. Kinda surprised that the amount of discussion on relievers, when they gave up a total of 2 runs in this series! We're at the point where the hitters are so bad that it demands perfection from all of our pitchers. Expecting to win back-to-back 1-0 games is foolish, and even guys like Duran can't always be lights out. Score some darn runs!!
  6. Crazy how Cano looks unhittable now. He did always have great numbers in the minors…
  7. Cool, Baumann is pitching. He was in the same graduating class at Mahtomedi as I was. Great to see him doing well in the majors!
  8. I liked Contreras last year, but he just looked so bad with the Twins last year (.121/.148 .441 OPS, 33% strikeout ratio). Plus he's already 28, and his .780 OPS at AAA isn't very impressive with all of the other crazy numbers coming out of the AAA level.
  9. Knowing this team, it probably would have been Johnny Cueto (since there was reported interest in signing him). Or some other bad veteran on a one year deal, else it'd be Sanchez or Headrick starting games.
  10. It seemed like Julien was the logical Arraez replacement, as a minor league OBP machine who also who might not have a defensive home at any position - and so far he's been solid at the plate, but dismal defensively at 2B.
  11. Come now, it's time! We have a desperate need for an outfielder who can hit, and Wallner has nothing to prove anymore. He's 25 years old and has had about 485 PAs at AAA, it's time to give him a long stretch against MLB pitching to see if he has what it takes. Why is it taking so long to move Kepler off RF?! It seems everyone is crushing AAA pitching - so I can't really say I buy that Chris Williams or Andrew Stevenson are going to come up and hit - but we have a legit prospect knocking down the door at a position we need help at, but the front office just refuses to admit a mistake and call him up.
  12. Taylor is not a decent hitter, he hasn't been above average per OPS since 2017, is sub .300 OBP in the past 4 years - even now, in what is a above average season for him (compared to the past 5 years), he has a pitiful .258 OBP. He's a mediocre hitter who is a plus defender in the outfield. Lewis sitting frequently is probably a plan from the whole collaboration, not just Rocco. Just like Buxton. You can fire Rocco and pretend like that will be the main factor to improving the team, but this front office will just replace him with someone who fits their vision. Resting players incessantly and over-platooning isn't going to come to a total halt without him.
  13. I'm aware it can be addictive, but there are so many other things to gamble away their money on that will not threaten their career... to be clear, I'm not defending the league here, I don't approve of their mass adoption of gambling.
  14. Agreed, I'd put the Pressly and Wade trades over the Arraez and Rogers/Pagan trade. We at least got a quality starting pitcher in Lopez and didn't lose that much value in the Rogers trade, while Pressly has been one of the best relievers in baseball and we got two prospects who have looked like AAAA players, and we dumped Wade for absolutely nothing.
  15. My question is, why are these players stupid enough to gamble on games when it is widely known that the minimum penalty is a full season suspension? Calvin Ridley should have been an example to all last year, yet there's already been 5 guys suspended so far. Why?!
  16. It seems to me he's no longer hiding his frustration with the team anymore: Not to mention how he's been ejected a couple times the past week. I know folks like to hate on Rocco for being bland and overbearingly politically correct in his post-game pressers, but I think behind the scenes he has been signing a different tune. I have to wonder if deep down he is thinking "why the heck did we hire a High A coach to be our major league batting coach"?
  17. Wow, that's a disgusting chart. The hitters really mailed it in today. Sounds like Rocco tore into them behind closed doors, seeing as how the media wasn't allowed in the locker room after the game. I'd guess he's at his wit's end.
  18. Exactly, I think he winds up as a #2 or 3 starter. While there have been plenty of pitchers who have consistently underperformed their FIP, I feel confident about Lopez's ERA regressing to the mean. I am willing to predict he gets super hot in August or September and ends up with an ERA under 3.8, if not lower.
  19. 4 errors and 5 HRs from the Braves, what a odd game from them. Eddie is still who he used to be, with the 2 errors in the outfield.
  20. Why is Kepler hitting ahead of Royce?!
  21. It's a common trend to see the negative crowd jump speak out more loudly in a game thread where we lost, it's not as if they just jumped off the deep end because of this game. Also, we lost 5/6 right before that 4/5 stretch. This is clearly a middling team that isn't good enough to be a contender, but not bad enough to sink down deeper into this terrible division.
  22. I wouldn't write off Prelander Berroa yet - he has had solid numbers and might make it as a MLB reliever, though he will need to learn to stop giving out walks. The Giants traded him to Seattle and he was protected before the Rule 5 draft, so he is likely to crack the majors at some point.
