  1. I think it'd be fair if those 3 pitchers made it and nobody else, seems pretty cut and dry.
  2. What does SRO stand for?
  3. Heck of a game by an offense that didn't look like it would produce much! Weird how we're doing so well against the Astros and the Yankees. Varland is a legit MLB starter and I wouldn't move him out of the rotation for Maeda. Kenta hasn't been able to stay healthy and we could use him in the bullpen. I would hope he understands that, as I know he's not a fan of moving out of the rotation.
  4. I share similar concerns with SWR, he is really starting to scuffle. I don't care about the age, should we expect him to spend the next two years at AAA until he's 24 and then will arbitrarily be ready for the majors? Looks like Rodriguez is off to a slow start being sub .700 OPS, hopefully he kicks things into gear soon.
  5. Good win, glad to see the offense finally erupt against a pretty good starter. Gotta be concerned about the Lopez's, though. Pablo not as much, but he hasn't looked quite as good as he did the first few weeks.
  6. I think it's better to get a fresh arm out there since Ryan has been giving up baserunners, I foresee him leaving a couple guys on if he starts the 6th.
  7. Are we playing the White Sox or something? That's some bad fielding.
  8. I agree, though I find it funny that many here were mad at Rocco for not using him in the 9th inning (which wasn't totally unreasonable because Pagan and Lopez were blowing saves) last year and instead utilized him as a firefighter in the 7th/8th innings. Now he's saved for the 9th, and it turns out the bullpen isn't good enough to get to the 9th. Yup, I agree with using him earlier in a jam. Better to use your closer to get you to the 9th rather than failing to get to the 9th with the lead blown.
  9. He was protected, but they DFA'd him a few months ago and nobody took him. That's pretty telling because if a team claims him they keep him, instead of having to carry him on the MLB roster for a full year.
  10. The MLBT article implied that Rocco was extended “prior to last year”, so that would be 2021. Doesn’t mean he’s super safe right now. I don’t think Baldelli is that great at his job, but this team has bigger issues like not having enough talented batters or relievers, and also having a severely under qualified batting coach who hasn’t been an improvement from the previous guy. The front office would just hire another manager who will execute their vision, and similar complaints and criticisms with our team would generally continue.
  11. Last I checked, bunting doesn't magically score you runs. You have to actually be able to knock guys in with hits with runners in scoring position, you can't bunt every run in.
  12. Man, this lineup just doesn't have it.
  13. Gallo is allergic to RBIs outside of HRs!
  14. Still too early to tell for most of these guys, though I think we can safely say that Jeffers is a success as a 2nd round pick.
  15. Nice rebound inning from Varland. He really does look like a legit MLB starter, does not look like a rookie.
  16. Looks like it might be another lost season for Alcala. Not the news our bullpen needed, but it's not as if he was making a positive impact so far this year.
  17. I don't think it's hindsight, there were some of us - including me - that thought adding zero FA relievers was a bad idea and we could at least use a mid-guy like Chafin to bolster our depth. The offense is the bigger issue, but if we are expecting the Twins to build a team that can do damage in the playoffs, they've got to field a better bullpen then this. And yes, I know FA relievers are volatile - but at some point they need to roll the dice. Joe Smith was our biggest FA addition over the past two years, and if you look at the FO's entire FA history... is there a single success? It's not that they're bad at building a bullpen, but they should have taken similar steps to solidifying it the same way they were liberal with adding starters and adding depth to the lineup.
  18. Turns out, when Joe Smith is the highest paid free agent reliever this team has signed in the past 2 years, your bullpen is going to be very shallow. It stinks to see that Jax is turning into a pumpkin, but it's time for plan B. Rocco can't use Stewart/Lopez/Duran for every inning... it's wild that Stewart is now easily the #3 guy when he hadn't pitched in the majors for 4 years.
  19. Garlick is back again, it's kinda telling that they're bringing him up again instead of Wallner. At least he mashes lefties.
  20. The top three are solid, but the rest are a mixed bag. Stewart looks like the #4/5 guy until he proves he isn't. The key will be figuring out which prospects (Winder/Sands/Henriquez/Balazovic) can make an impact in the bullpen now. So far, Alcala and Moran aren't doing it for me.
  21. Larnach is getting intentionally walked? The dude just got called up from AAA... well, it's up to Farmer now.
  22. 4 pitch walk to the #9 hitter with the bases loaded!
  23. Just checking in, dang, it's shocking the Twins are hanging in there. ...and yet another blown lead by Jax. Looks like they've got a decent chance of stealing this game, though we've gone through a good chunk of the bullpen...
