The Twins Have All Eggs in Ryan Jeffers’ Basket
HerbieFan replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I'm fine with Jeffers. Key will be which back-up, FA catcher they bring in.- 23 replies

To deviate from the "process" or "plan" would be to admit they made a mistake. I don't think Falvey is real keen on admitting he was wrong.

Carlos Correa Makes His Decision Clear
HerbieFan replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Probably not the one he's looking for, but still likely more than the club would be willing to pay him...or for longer than he's willing to pay him? -
Could Bailey Ober Move to the Bullpen?
HerbieFan replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I think it depends on what you think of Winder and Varland. I'd guess one of the three is the #5 starter, one is in the 'pen and one is at AAA as a starter.- 20 replies

Hildenberger...Curtiss...Vazquez...Viscaya...Moran. The bar isn't real high for Sisk to better than the previous five winners.- 18 replies

Level of concern for Lopez is rising. Hasn't looked real good under the "tutelage" of the Twins....shocking.

In another article, Nick says "Hope Sinks"....let's be honest. Hope left the station a while ago. But, today is a nice reminder that Joe Ryan will slot in very nicely as the #4 starter next year. Maybe as he gains more experience he'll learn how to get really good lineups out. At the very least, Mahle-Gray-Maeda-Ryan has the potential to be a very nice top 4 in the rotation in 2023.

The Moments that Sank the 2022 Minnesota Twins
HerbieFan replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Injuries happen...in all sports. HOWEVER, it completely baffles me how an organization that stresses "rest and recovery" above all else, including common sense at times, can be completely incapable of keeping players healthy...and even worse at getting players healthy again after they've been hurt. It's so far beyond frustrating you can't even see frustrating from where we stand!- 34 replies

Week in Review: Crash and Burn
HerbieFan replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
No great mystery here....the "burst of momentum" comes against bad teams, and the "screeching halt" comes against good teams. That is all. -
I'm not an eternally optimistic or pessimistic Twins fan. What I am is a realistic Twins fan. Here are my 5: 1) Arraez wins batting title 2) Duran and Miranda both finish top 6 in ROY voting 3) Twins finish below .500 and in 3rd place 4) Mahle misses the rest of 2022 5) Buxton joins Mahle and misses the rest of 2022

Other than Verlander making the lineup look like the JV, was this not the most predictable near-no hitter ever?? Who takes the blame for this mess? Rocco or the "training" staff. How can an organization that prioritizes the dreaded "rest and relaxation" above all else, have SO many players injured/unable to get healthy?! Beyond frustrating.

The Twins Have a Long Man... Or Not
HerbieFan replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I gave up a long time ago trying to figure out what on Earth Rocco is doing with his bullpen. It seems like for most of their relievers it's less about "roles" and more about which 3 hitters in the opponents order they think a specific reliever can actually get out. As for Pagan, it's clear they're so enamored with his whiff rate that they don't realize he hasn't been good since 2019.- 31 replies

Remember the names Twins fans. When (IF??) they are calling a Twins game, I'd expect they are given the proper "welcome"

I really like what they did. What frustrates me a little is that everyone not named Falvey thought the bullpen was going to be a problem. I would have preferred they actually spend for a solid reliever instead of blowing 19 saves and then having to give up prospects to correct the problem. I like that they've set themselves up to have a solid starting rotation next year as well...Gray, Mahle, Maeda, Ryan, Winder, etc.

Twins Trade for Set-up Man Michael Fulmer
HerbieFan replied to John Bonnes's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
So.....if Falvine had traded for Cotton and signed Pagan on a minor league deal, would Pagan have been DFA'd? Hmmmmmmm......... -
Twins Trade for Set-up Man Michael Fulmer
HerbieFan replied to John Bonnes's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I like, borderline love, what they did today. But today's MLB is just weird...you trade for a guy who gave up 2 runs to you last night and DFA a guy who retired 8 straight hitters and a guy who fanned 8 in 5 innings FOR you? -
Twins Acquire Tyler Mahle from Reds
HerbieFan replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
TD has Steer at #6 but with him being blocked by other players and needing to be added to the 40-man, he was a no-brainer as part of a package. I was excited to see what Encarnacion-Strand would become but you have to give to get. My preferred target was Castillo. Then Mahle/Montas, with Mahle even b/c of Montas' shoulder issue. Now...about an extension for Mahle. Mahle, Gray, Maeda, Ryan is a pretty good start to 2023 rotation as well. -
Have the Twins Seen the End of Miguel Sano?
HerbieFan replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Ummmmm. Yes. Two words...Jose Miranda. I'd rather see Miranda in the lineup 100 times out of 100 at this point. We've seen what Sano is....except when Garvin Alston was around. Is he still in Miami? Maybe the Marlins would trade a couple dozen baseballs for the chance to "get him right". After 8 seasons, I've seen more than enough.- 37 replies

Dear Mr. Falvey. Your analytics-driven method for building a competitive pitching staff is failing. Your analytics-driven method for building a championship level pitching staff is completely non-existent. I'm 54 and not getting younger...please go get this solid offense some pitching help!!!!!

Minnesota Twins Activate Slugger Miguel Sano
HerbieFan replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
This was the obvious move. Celestino could use some time in StPaul to see if he can grow as a hitter. With Sanchez catching 80% of the time, Sano can DH. It also buys the FO some time to see if he can continue what he started at AAA at the plate. If he goes back to April 2022 Sano, they can always DFA him later.- 60 replies

As always, personnel decisions will likely revolve around who replaces Buxton in CF when he's not out there. If they're comfortable with Gordon in that role, it's likely Celestino heading to StPaul.

Trade Target Tracker: RHP Tyler Mahle
HerbieFan replied to Nash Walker's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Adding a Mahle would be a move for 2023 and beyond. I have to be honest...I feel like there are just so many issues with the current pitching staff that adding one guy isn't the solution. I'm only interested in guys that can help this year, 2023, and maybe beyond that.
